Parkinson's UK local groups offer friendship, support, and numerous activities for people affected by Parkinson's.
In Winchester, the group is a core part of the local Parkinson's community. As a committee volunteer you'll help connect people to the group, whilst making sure existing members stay up to date with the activities provided. You could have a hand in arranging activities too, whether it's seated yoga, or a chance for friends and family of those living with Parkinson's to meet - and all activities are open to you too.
You'll build existing connections, and meet new people in your local area, all whilst making a difference to those living with Parkinson's in Winchester.
The group meets each month, but many of our volunteers undertake parts of their roles from home - at a time that suits them. This is a flexible role, and you could be doing any or all of the tasks on the role description - speak to your staff contact for more detail.

The Administrator Coordinator is a key member of the team, ensuring the smooth running of the branch and supporting day to day operations. This role is at the heart of the branch, overseeing the group inbox, organising meetings, and liaising with volunteers and external stakeholders.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
We aim to provide financial, practical, and emotional support when it’s needed most. To do this we need excellent administrators to keep things running efficiently behind the scenes.
What would you be doing?
- Every SSAFA Branch has different needs, however, below are the main activities of a Branch Administration Coordinator.
- Overseeing enquiries: Overseeing the administration of the branch shared inbox and post, ensuring queries are answered.
- Getting people together: Organising internal meetings, both virtually and face to face
- Planning and organising: Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to arrange events such as the Branch Annual General Meeting
- Note taking and recording: Maintaining accurate records of meetings and decisions.
- Communicating: Supporting the Branch Chair with internal communications, keeping other volunteers up to date and informed
- Tracking and ordering: Keeping a record of branch assets, ordering stationery, and ensuring maintenance of equipment
- Supporting health and safety: Supporting the Branch Chair with administration of personal, office and event risk assessments where required
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.
We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Preston Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.
Time commitment

Time2Share@WECIL’s Befriending Service links volunteers 1:1 with a Disabled child / young person. Links are based on shared interests and activities which the volunteer and young person can enjoy doing together either in the child/family home or out in the community.
What experience do I need?
You do not need any previous experience with disabled children or young people, but we ask that volunteers are friendly, caring, reliable and able to make a commitment to visit a young person regularly.
What will I be doing?
You will volunteer within Time2Share@WECIL’s befriending service for disabled children/young people (aged 5-18 yrs) and their families. This involves spending time regularly with a disabled child or young person in their home or supporting the young person to take part in social and leisure activities in their local community. You will not be asked to administer medication or deliver personal care in this role.
Who am I responsible for?
You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person you are linked with. All links are risk-assessed and carefully monitored by your co-ordinator.
Who am I responsible to?
The parent / carer. You must ensure that the parent / carer’s reasonable instructions and guidance regarding the welfare of their child are adhered to and that clear communication is maintained. Feedback must be given to the parent/carer following a visit.
How often will I be needed?
Time2Share@WECIL typically ask for volunteers to commit to 2-4 hours a week and the days / times are agreed between the volunteer and the family. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months to ensure the child and their family are able to benefit fully from the relationship.

A bit about this role
As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:
- Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
- Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
- Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
- Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

Project overview:
Mind in Kingston is a local charity that supports people with mental health issues, and campaigns to raise awareness about mental health in Kingston and surrounding areas. We are affiliated to National Mind but operate independently in the Borough of Kingston upon Thames and surrounding areas.
The Information, Advice, Signposting & Referral Service is designed to provide enquirers with empathic advice, information and/or signposting.
Volunteers are extremely valued within our team and a vital part of our service delivery. We encourage and welcome people with lived experience of mental health issues to apply to volunteer with us; this could be personal experience relating to yourself, a family member or a friend; or in a professional capacity working with people with mental health issues.
We care about everyone’s wellbeing and as an integral member of our team, volunteers receive support to ensure they are trained and skilled up in their roles that they may take further in their career aspirations. They receive regular supervision and development opportunities as well as be part of our volunteer awards programme to recognise and celebrate their achievement and contribution to our community. As team members, volunteers have the opportunity to engage with the board of trustees, staff and other volunteers both professionally and socially.
Main purpose of the role:
· To provide confidential telephone advice and information about local services to service users.
· To provide empathic listening.
· To signpost service users to appropriate services.
· To promote emotional and physical wellbeing to service users.
· To collect data for monitoring purposes.
Tasks will include:
· Phone or email service users to provide advice, information and signposting.
· To research and learn about local services for information.
· To record each interaction with a service user on an enquiry sheet and file these in line with data protection regulations
· To fill in the message book and inform colleagues about messages relevant to them.
· To immediately raise safeguarding concerns and complete safeguarding if necessary.
· To maintain regular contact with your supervisor
· To attend meetings and supervision on a regular basis.
What you will receive in return:
· Training in providing remote support and telephone skills including mental health awareness, and boundaries.
· Training in adult safeguarding and local procedures.
· Training for any other skills as identified by yourself and your supervisor.
· Regular check-in with your supervisor, and monthly clinical and managerial supervision.

· References upon completing your volunteering with us.
· Reasonable expenses to be paid so you are not left out of pocket.
What we expect from you:
· Commitment for at least three months
· Attend and complete training as directed.
· Adhere to our policies and procedures, particularly confidentiality, data protection, Safeguarding and health and safety.
· Confidence in supporting people with mental health challenges.
· Be able to deal with distressed users in a calm and robust manner.
· Proactive engagement with your supervisor for support.
· Safe handling and return of any equipment issued.
You may on occasion volunteer from home, so a confidential space is essential.
Application Process:
· Two references (one from a professional contact) are required.
· An enhanced DBS check is necessary.
We ask volunteers for two references, one of which must come from a professional connection such as a current or previous employer or a tutor. You will also need to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as you will be working with vulnerable adults.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the North Somerset Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. That could be helping someone access local information about the care or benefits they need or giving them a hand with a grant application. See a video about one of our Support Volunteers here.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.
Time commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.
