Ruils is run by, and for, Disabled people. We exist to remove the barriers that prevent Disabled people from living independent lives. Our vision is a society where all individuals have choice and control to live independently. We provide information, advice, advocacy, befriending and activities to our clients and their families.
Pathways is a specialised welfare advice service that provides information, advice, advocacy and representation for Disabled adults (over the age of 18) living in the Richmond Borough. We work with clients, supporting them to navigate the complex Housing, Benefits and Social Care systems. In this role, you would be providing information, guidance and advice to Disabled people and their families, enabling them to have more choice and control over their lives.
We are also part of a larger network of Disabled-led advice services. Working together, we have developed pathways for Disabled trainee case workers, collated data on Housing and Benefits issues and have fed into important consultations and campaigns.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to work one-to-one with clients to effect change, whilst also having a positive impact on the wider system.
We are looking for someone who:
- Will bring experience of supporting people with complex welfare, housing or social care issues.
- Is confident advocating on behalf of clients when needed.
- Has an understanding of the welfare benefits system, disability rights and the Social Model of Disability.
- Can break down complex information so it feels clear and manageable.
- Works in a calm, methodical way, keeping accurate records.
- Is compassionate, patient and values-driven.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate advice on welfare benefits, housing and social care to support Disabled people to live independently.
- Analyse clients’ situations, identify solutions and guide them through complex systems, signposting where appropriate.
- Work with clients on a short to medium term basis, helping with referrals, forms, letters, appeals and navigating processes.
- Support clients to gather evidence and prepare for Benefit or Housing applications and appeals, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Attend key meetings and appeals with clients, advocating for them and helping them put their case forward confidently.
- Develop accessible information resources (guides, bulletins) to help clients navigate health, care, benefits and housing systems.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, contributing to forums, campaigns and shared problem-solving.
- Provide supervision and support to trainee caseworkers, including induction, case file reviews and contributing to their development.

Housing First Support Worker (28 hours per week)
Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is recruiting a Housing First Support Worker to join our specialist team supporting people who have experienced homelessness and other traumatic events.
In this role, you’ll hold a small caseload (around six residents) and provide tailored, person-centred, trauma-informed support that helps people sustain their tenancies, improve their wellbeing, and work towards recovery on their own terms. You’ll build trusting relationships over time, combining practical housing-related support (such as moving in, budgeting, appointments, maintaining a home and accessing community resources) with strong advocacy to ensure residents can access healthcare, benefits, housing services and specialist support.
You’ll work closely with SCT colleagues and a range of external partners across Tower Hamlets to remove barriers, reduce risk, and prevent eviction. The post includes completing needs and risk assessments, maintaining clear case records (including on In-Form or similar systems), and contributing to reporting and service learning. This is a values-led role for someone who is organised, resilient, and confident working independently with adults facing multiple disadvantage (including addiction, mental ill health, and long-term homelessness).
This is a part-time post (28 hours per week) with a salary up to £32,000 (up to £25,600 pro rata). Enhanced Adult Workforce DBS is required. Sounds great, what will I be doing?
The main purpose of this role is to support rough sleepers on the RBWM housing pathway. The resettlement team help service users to maintain their tenancies and remove the risk of homelessness. This role supports people with experiences of rough sleeping, substance use and homelessness to access the RBWM housing pathway, using comprehensive assessments and co‑produced Personal Housing Plans to identify needs, risks and opportunities. You'll provide weekly key‑working sessions, help clients maintain Stage 2 temporary accommodation, and motivate them to build independence, engage in recovery, and improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Working collaboratively with education, employment, health and specialist agencies, you'll ensure support is holistic and focused on preventing homelessness wherever possible. You'll manage a varied caseload in line with service standards and Hestia values, empowering service users to take ownership of their goals and make meaningful progress toward stable housing and a better quality of life.

You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, including supporting the induction of peer staff and volunteers. An awareness of lone working and health and safety practices is important, alongside motivation to uphold professional standards and use management and peer support to maintain resilience. Our client is looking for 2 Duty Workers to join the expansion of their Accommodation Service. The service provides accommodation and housing related support to people who may have complex needs, including multiple challenges such as physical and mental health issues, substance use and a history of trauma. They are dedicated to providing a safe, high quality and inclusive service to people while they are living in the hostel, and a positive move-on into independent housing.
You will join a dynamic team of managers, day shift and night shift workers, taking part in the renewal of the service, helping to provide a psychologically-informed environment and a supportive and secure place where residents can make meaningful life changes.
What you’ll be doing as a Duty Worker
In the rewarding role of Duty Worker, you’ll gain valuable experience working alongside a dedicated team to deliver a safe, inclusive, and high-quality service. You’ll be the first point of contact at reception, helping create a welcoming and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the project.
- Managing reception duties, including phones, access, and basic client support.
- Maintaining communal and office spaces.
- Coordinating health & safety checks and admin tasks.
- Providing person-centred support to residents.
Working hours
You will work full time on-site on a 7‑day rolling rota, including early shifts from 7:30am, late shifts until around 10pm, bank holidays, and two extended weekend shifts in every six. Some roles also offer a 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm–8am Monday to Friday, and for all weekend hours.

About the Role
We're looking for an Engagement Worker to join our residential service based in Catford which supports females in the criminal justice system who are likely to meet the criteria for a personality disorder, helping them reintegrate into the community following release from prison, secure healthcare settings, or Approved Premises. HerStory House is dedicated to empowering women with the skills needed to thrive in their chosen communities, maintain independence, and build a hopeful future.
Our specialised, high-support, female-only residential service is tailored for women who are likely to meet the criteria for a personality disorder diagnosis and are at risk of entering or re-entering the Criminal Justice System. You will be at the forefront of delivering a trauma-informed, person-centred service, supporting individuals through rehabilitation and resettlement. This includes assisting with engagement activities, developing support plans, and providing access to appropriate interventions to help residents move towards independence.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting residents to access the resources, tools, and networks they need to achieve their goals.
- Develop, participate in, and encourage residents to participate in the running and development of various projects and activities.
- Promoting independence through life skills training, practical support, and empowerment.
- Recognising and responding to mental and physical health needs and safeguarding concerns.
- Supporting the creation of a safe, welcoming and psychologically informed living environment.
- Carrying out housing management tasks including reporting repairs, maintaining communal areas, and health and safety checks.

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a special, unique and beloved wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We were established in 2002 and will celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2027. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give our primary beneficiaries). People are referred to us from community organisations and health professionals and we use an integrative approach where those with different degrees of mental and physical ill health come together with volunteers from the local community to reduce social exclusion and prejudice. Each year we work with on average over 250 co-workers and over 70 volunteers.

You’ll have experience in building relationships with a range of Trusts, Foundations and statutory funders, drafting compelling funding proposals and demonstrating impact through high-quality reports. You’ll have excellent communication and people skills and feel comfortable both thinking strategically and managing competing priorities day-to-day. Most importantly, you’ll thrive in a small team working to make a big impact for people living with mental ill-health and dementia.
