About Cycle Sisters

Cycle Sisters is a women-led charity supporting Muslim and ethnically diverse women to transform their lives through cycling.   Through group rides, cycle lessons and volunteering opportunities, we create accessible and empowering spaces where women can build confidence, improve their health and connect with others. 

We work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders – from local authorities to national bodies such as British Cycling, Transport for London and the Bikeability Trust to advocate for greater inclusion in cycling.

Since starting with a single local group in 2016, we’ve grown into a thriving network of over 2,000 women across 10 groups London-wide. Our impact is far-reaching: 92% of women who take part in our activities report improved health, with 91% feeling more confident and 86% being more connected in their communities.

Cycle Sisters is seen as a leading voice in our sector and has been recognised with multiple awards, including our Chair winning the BBC Sports Personality Unsung Hero of the Year Award for the London region.

Looking ahead, our vision is to build a national movement of diverse women cycling, with plans to expand beyond London and share our model across the UK. What will you be doing? 

As a Trustee of Cycle Sisters, you’ll play a key role in shaping the direction of a growing, values-led charity. Your responsibilities will include ensuring we comply with our governing document and charitable objectives, safeguarding our reputation, and supporting sound financial management, risk management and accountability.

You’ll contribute to strategic planning by helping to set goals, review progress and ensure long-term sustainability. Working closely with fellow Trustees and senior staff, you’ll bring insight, expertise and constructive challenge to strengthen the organisation. Trustees are also ambassadors for Cycle Sisters, raising our profile and creating opportunities through their networks and community connections.

• Ability and capacity to give the role the time and focus required, including an average of 4-6 hours per month as well as attending quarterly board meetings

• Understanding of the experiences and perspectives of Muslim communities in the UK, whether through personal experience or professional/community engagement

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.

What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

Our Friends Ageing Better (FAB) project is looking for volunteer hosts for our FAB cafés around Bristol. In this volunteer role, you’ll be part of creating vibrant, welcoming community spaces that build relationships and connect people with activities in their local community.

At Age UK Bristol, we want to change the way we age. We aim to keep people aged 55+ well and active, encouraging Bristol to be an Age Friendly city. We do this in 3 ways - through providing practical help and supporting people’s emotional and physical wellbeing in a range of ways depending on their needs.  In addition, we want to prevent people from needing our help wherever possible.  We do this in our strategic work, where we aim to create the conditions for older adults to remain healthy and independent.

The role involves

• Welcoming older people who are new to the FAB café

• Providing information about events and activities happening in the local area with the support of the FAB team

What is the plan?

The person who is starting the charity up is autistic, has ADHD, CPTSD and also multiple physical conditions that effect daily life and is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has faced a lot of issues in life because of these things.

Living Reasons is being created to fix what we think is a challenging situation that is getting harder to achieve every week, month and year in the current economic, political, environmental and societal landscape. It is not easily defined but we hope the charity objects below will help put context to what we want to achieve, what we can say is that below are the issues we are trying to address, how we do this will change as quickly as society does, but the issues we want to tackle are these:

Volunteer with us at Acorns Children's Hospice Black Country for our Christmas Fete on Saturday 6th December 2025!

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.

 What's involved?

We are looking for volunteers who will come a long to support Acorns and engage with members of the public. 

Join our team for a day of festive fun! We're looking for volunteers to help with a variety of stalls and activities, including:

The event will take place at Yewtree and Tamebridge Community Centre WS5 4LB

We’re looking for volunteer gardeners to help us maintain our gardens in our Birmingham hospice.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We have three hospices in the West Midlands, which provide a happy homely environment where children can experience all kinds of great activities, meet new friends or relax and enjoy some quiet time.

As a volunteer, you’ll get involved in a variety of hands-on tasks such as planting, weeding, path clearing, sweeping, and general garden maintenance. It's a rewarding way to contribute to our hospice community while enjoying nature and staying active.

We are especially looking for help on Mondays and Thursdays, but we’re also open to flexible hours and days to suit your availability.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) is entering a pivotal and inspiring phase as we deliver Our Strategy to 2035, designed to respond to the changing world and evolving needs of the entire Armed Forces community: serving personnel, veterans, families, and the bereaved. Our strategy supports a sense of shared purpose across RBL and outlines what we need to do to make sure we will be fit for the future. Our vision is to bring society together to recognise, remember and support the Armed Forces Community and ensure that their unique contribution is not forgotten.   

As part of this commitment, RBL oversees Branch Property Trusts (BPTs)—separate charitable assets held on trust for specific local purposes connected to RBL Branches. These include both properties and proceeds from property sales, with approximately 775 BPTs in total, with around 400 holding property, and 375 representing sale proceeds valued at over £65m; held on trust for specific local charitable purposes connected to RBL Branches. These properties provide the RBL with a vital local community footprint. BPTs are separate charities and must be accounted for independently. RBL remains legally responsible, with decision making delegated to the Branch Property Trust Trustee Committee (BPTTC) to manage conflicts of interest.

Purpose of the role:

To contribute to the BPTTC’s discussions and decisions, to act as a Subject Matter Expert and to act as an impartial and objective guiding mind, supporting and advising on matters pertaining to assets held by RBL on trust, ensuring insight, challenge and assurance is provided on all BPTCC matters.

Independent Committee members are valued for their support, challenge and the advice they can provide to the Executive team and as such understand the roles of Trustees and Executive.

Who we’re looking for:

To support the BPTCC in its independent decision making, we are seeking to appoint two Independent Committee Members with technical skills and experience in the following areas:

· A legal expert with knowledge of property and/or charity law.

· A person with a commercial or operational background in the property sector.

Key Responsibilities:

· To ensure coherence to and support RBL’s Strategy to 2035, to meet the changing needs of the Armed Forces community and reinforce the bond with our society.

· Help to ensure the BPTTC makes decisions which adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, charity law, and the governing documents of the appropriate BPTs in question.

· To bring an impartial and independent perspective to the committee's discussions, helping to improve the quality and objectivity of decision-making. 

· As relevant to the BPTTC, to collaborate with RBL’s Executive team and Trustees committee members to develop and review RBL’s strategic goals, plans and initiatives.

· To support the BPTTC to ensure that RBL complies with all laws, legislation and corporate governance standards.

· To review and approve corporate policies and procedures relevant to the BPTTC.
