We are looking for an Assertive Outreach Worker to engage and support vulnerable adults who are at risk of, or currently experiencing, cuckooing (where perpetrators take over a person’s home for criminal exploitation).

The role requires proactive, persistent, and person-centred outreach to build trust with individuals who may be reluctant to engage with services, with the aim of improving safety, reducing harm, and supporting sustainable recovery and independence.

Key responsibilities:

Outreach & Engagement

• Deliver assertive outreach, including home visits, community-based engagement, and multi-agency operations.
• Build trusting relationships with individuals experiencing exploitation, often with complex needs (e.g., substance misuse, mental health, homelessness).
• Engage service users who may be resistant or disengaged from traditional support services.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

• Identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding risks related to cuckooing and exploitation.
• Develop and implement risk management and safety plans in collaboration with service users.
• Act promptly on safeguarding concerns in line with local authority procedures.
• Work closely with police and safeguarding teams to disrupt exploitation and protect victims.

Case Management

• Manage a caseload of service users, maintaining accurate and timely records.
• Complete needs assessments and co-produce support plans tailored to individual needs.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions accordingly.

Multi-Agency Working

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies including:
  • Housing providers
  • Police
  • Social services
  • Substance misuse and mental health services
• Attend multi-agency meetings (e.g., MARAC, safeguarding meetings, case conferences).
• Advocate on behalf of clients to access services, housing, and support.

Prevention & Education

• Deliver awareness sessions to professionals and communities about cuckooing and exploitation.
• Support early intervention strategies to prevent exploitation.

Practical Support

• Assist service users with:
  • Securing safe accommodation
  • Accessing benefits and healthcare
  • Re-establishing tenancies
• Provide crisis support where required.

Working Conditions

• Regular lone working and community-based visits, including high-risk environments.
• Flexible working hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
• Requirement to follow all health and safety and lone working procedures.

The Enfield Refuge Service provides emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and sexual violence. Refuge Support Workers give emotional and practical support, this can include housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits, financial advice and accessing therapeutic support services.

About the Role
As Refuge Support Worker, you will help create a safe, welcoming environment for women and families escaping abuse. You’ll handle phone enquiries, prepare rooms for new arrivals, support with deliveries, and help maintain clean, safe communal areas.

You’ll introduce new residents to Solace services, explain key policies, and ensure they are aware of internal and external support options. Working alongside each resident, you will develop support plans, assist with benefits and housing applications, accompany them to appointments when needed, and help them work towards safe, independent move‑on accommodation.

About You

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, practical, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting survivors of domestic abuse. You’re confident working in a busy, varied environment and can balance hands‑on tasks with administrative responsibilities.

You communicate clearly, build trusting relationships, and work well with residents, colleagues, and external agencies. You are organised, reliable, and able to maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational procedures.

You’re also comfortable supporting service users with practical needs such as benefits, housing, and appointments, and you approach challenges with patience, empathy, and a problem‑solving mindset. You’re also able to manage occasional physical tasks, such as helping prepare rooms or assisting with deliveries.

This role involves providing intensive, person-centred support to women in a residential setting. You will co-produce Support and Safety Plans with residents, focusing on their strengths and goals, and offer advice on safety, domestic abuse, housing, and independent living. Responsibilities also include liaising with statutory bodies on safeguarding matters, supporting move-on accommodation, and promoting empowerment through workshops and social activities. The role follows “The Hestia Approach,” prioritising co-production, recovery, and partnership with service users.

PLEASE NOTE:  

• The successful candidate will need to be based within a 30-minute commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel regularly across the wider area (travel expenses covered).  The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.  

• There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to other UK locations for meetings and events depending on the charity’s needs such as our annual all colleagues in person event.   

• The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. We're looking for two Events & Marketing Assistants to join our small, busy team at Portsmouth Cathedral. It's a varied, practical role that sits right at the heart of our commercial operations - coordinating venue hire bookings, setting up for evening concerts, supporting licensed events, and everything in between. Alongside this supporting the marketing for our events and the wider organisation as a whole.

No two weeks look quite the same, and roughly half the role takes place during evenings and weekends. The pattern of hours will vary week to week in line with the Cathedral's events programme. As Senior Youth Support Worker you will;

· Provide supervision to Youth Outreach Worker(s).

The Learning & Development Officer is responsible for working closely with the Director of People & Organisational Development in supporting the design, delivery and development of the education and training across the hospice group.

They will coordinate and organise all in house and external training programmes, maintain accurate records, monitor compliance and support a learning culture across St Giles.
