About the Service

The Lambeth Refuge Service provides skilled, specialist support for women and children across our refuges, enabling them to address both their practical and emotional needs during this difficult time of transition. Support is also provided to ensure women and children are safe and their core needs are met in relation to finances and welfare benefits, housing, especially move-on accommodation, legal matters, immigration issues, health, education, training and employment.

About the Role

As Refuge Caseworker, you will help create a safe, welcoming environment for women and families escaping abuse. You’ll handle phone enquiries, prepare rooms for new arrivals, support with deliveries, and help maintain clean, safe communal areas.

You’ll introduce new residents to Solace services, explain key policies, and ensure they are aware of internal and external support options. Working alongside each resident, you will develop support plans, assist with benefits and housing applications, accompany them to appointments when needed.

Days in the refuge can be unpredictable, and the role requires some lone working, as such we need staff who feel comfortable working alone as well as part of a team.

About You

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, practical, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting survivors of domestic abuse. You’re confident working in a busy, varied environment and can balance hands‑on tasks with administrative responsibilities.

You communicate clearly, build trusting relationships, and work well with service users, colleagues, and external agencies. As an organised professional, you are also reliable, and able to maintain accurate records and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational procedures. You’ll provide non-judgmental, confidential, and psychologically informed support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

Additional Information

The postholder will be based at our Lambeth refuge (across two locations), providing on-site support to survivors. Given the nature of this role and our refuge services, we are unable to offer hybrid working for this position.

The salary for this post is £17,631 - £18,402 (pro-rata of £29,385 - £30,671 Unqualified)) or £17,953 - £19,573 (pro-rata of £29,923 - £32,623 (Qualified)).

This post is a fixed term contract to 31st March 2027.

The Bexley Health & Wellbeing Coaching Service is delivered through a partnership of voluntary and community organisations working together to improve health and wellbeing outcomes across the borough. Bringing together a diverse range of local charities and community organisations, the partnership combines specialist knowledge, trusted community relationships, and local expertise to support residents to live healthier, more independent lives.

While coaches will be employed and hosted by partner organisations, they will form part of a borough-wide Health & Wellbeing Coaching team.

How Homeless Health Peer Advocacy Works 

HHPA helps people experiencing homelessness overcome the barriers that prevent them accessing healthcare. 

Many people face significant challenges navigating health services. Appointments can be difficult to book and attend, treatment can be confusing, and previous experiences of stigma, trauma or exclusion can make healthcare feel inaccessible. Without the right support, people often delay seeking help until their health has deteriorated.

HHPA Client 

HHPA provides practical, person-centred support that helps people access the care they need while building the confidence to manage their own health. Rather than providing one-off interventions, HHPA works alongside people over time, developing trusted relationships, responding flexibly to changing needs and supporting people to become more confident and independent. 

The service combines the expertise of skilled Caseworkers with the unique insight of trained volunteer Peer Advocates who have lived experience of homelessness. Together they provide one-to-one advocacy, practical support and health promotion to help people: 

• register with healthcare services 

• prepare for and attend appointments 

• understand treatment and care plans 

• navigate hospital admission and discharge 

• access wider health and wellbeing services 

• make informed decisions about their health 

• become increasingly confident in managing their own health. 

Alongside one-to-one support, HHPA delivers peer-led health promotion in hostels, day centres, outreach settings and other community spaces. Through informal conversations and group activities, Peer Advocates share accessible information about physical health, mental health and wellbeing, encourage preventative healthcare, identify unmet health needs and help people access support earlier. These conversations often provide the first step towards engaging with healthcare, creating trusted pathways into ongoing advocacy and reducing the need for crisis intervention. 

This relational, peer-led approach improves individual health outcomes while strengthening partnerships across health, housing and homelessness services, helping more people access coordinated, person-centred care.  

Delivering HHPA in Islington 

Groundswell has been commissioned by Islington Council to deliver a new borough-wide Homeless Health Peer Advocacy (HHPA) service. 

The service supports people who are sleeping rough or living in hostels, supported accommodation and temporary housing to access healthcare earlier, stay engaged with treatment and receive coordinated support across local services. 

Working alongside Single Homelessness Project (SHP), Thames Reach, the Islington Health Outreach Team (IHOT), Whittington Health NHS Trust, Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, Islington GP Federation, Change Grow Live, Islington Council and local accommodation providers, the service delivers outreach, in-reach, health advocacy, healthcare accompaniment, hospital discharge support and health promotion for people experiencing homelessness across Islington. Alongside supporting individuals, the service also strengthens local partnerships, improves referral pathways and identifies opportunities to make the health and homelessness system work better for people experiencing homelessness.

Partner organisation 

As the Islington HHPA Caseworker, you'll play a key role in establishing this new service and helping it become a trusted part of Islington's health and homelessness system. You'll manage a varied caseload, working alongside people experiencing homelessness to improve access to healthcare, coordinate support and help them achieve the health outcomes that matter to them. Every day is different, but throughout your work you'll work alongside people, collaborate with local partners and help create a service that enables people to access healthcare with dignity, confidence and choice. 

Role Description 

Through outreach, health advocacy and partnership working, you'll support people experiencing homelessness to access healthcare, stay engaged with treatment and build the confidence to manage their own health. Alongside direct support, you'll help strengthen partnerships and improve local pathways into care. 

Key Responsibilities 

Outreach and Engagement: 

• Undertake outreach with SHP, Thames Reach and the Islington Health Outreach Team (IHOT).

• Deliver in-reach sessions within hostels, supported accommodation and temporary housing.

• Respond to referrals and identify people who would benefit from the service.

• Build trusting relationships through persistent, compassionate engagement.

• Complete holistic assessments and develop person-centred support plans. 

Health Advocacy and Casework: 

Manage a caseload of people experiencing homelessness with multiple and complex health needs, providing practical, person-centred support to improve access to healthcare and long-term health outcomes. 

You will support people to: 

• Register with GP practices and other primary healthcare services.

• Access physical health, mental health, dental, sexual health, optometry and substance use services.

• Arrange, prepare for and attend healthcare appointments.

• Understand their treatment, care plans and available support.

• Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and advocate where barriers arise.

• Build the confidence and skills to manage their own healthcare independently over time.

• Promote preventative healthcare, including screening, vaccinations and long-term condition management where appropriate.

• Deliver informal health promotion and accessible health information in hostels and community settings.

• Encourage people to seek support earlier and become active participants in managing their own health and wellbeing.

You'll tailor your support to each individual, recognising the impact of homelessness, trauma and social exclusion on health and wellbeing. 

Hospital Admission and Discharge 

• Support people before, during and after hospital admission.

• Advocate with hospital teams.

• Contribute to discharge planning.

• Help prevent discharge to rough sleeping.

• Provide follow-up support to maintain engagement with healthcare. 

Partnership Working 

Develop strong working relationships across Islington's health, housing and homelessness system to ensure people experiencing homelessness receive coordinated, person-centred support.

• Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case conferences and other partnership forums.

• Coordinate care for people with multiple and complex needs.

• Develop and maintain effective referral pathways with partner organisations.

• Share information appropriately to support safe, coordinated care.

• Champion the value of peer-led health advocacy and lived experience.

Great support has a substantial impact on small environmental charities and the people they benefit. In this role you will be delivering an established, enjoyable, professional development programme for city farms, community gardens and care farms. You'll focus on training, networking and showcase events. The role involves getting out and about, but most of the work is office work. This role does not include any practical gardening or farming activities.

Hours:                      Three days a week (22.5 hours).  Ideally to include Tuesdays.

Role Overview:

To support the delivery of a popular, enjoyable programme of training, networking and events designed with and for city farms and community gardens. The programme improves the long-term viability of individual city farms and community gardens and builds the network as a whole, contributing to the sustainability of vibrant local communities throughout the capital.

The London Development Officer is part of a London team of two, working closely with the London Development Manager, and staff of city farms and community gardens, including the trustees of the London Association of City Farms and Community Gardens. The London team works with the wider team of Social Farms &  Gardens based in the UKs countries and regions.

The London programme is well-established and well-regarded.
Annual outputs include:

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This role would suit a practical and organised communications professional with strong writing and digital skills. You will be a confident and clear communicator, able to produce engaging, accessible content for a range of audiences across web, email and social media. You will have experience working with websites, including contributing to or supporting a WordPress (or similar CMS) website redevelopment, and be comfortable collaborating with website developers to deliver user-friendly, accessible digital experiences. You will bring the ability to plan and coordinate work across multiple projects, managing timelines, contributors and priorities effectively. Role Purpose

The Website & Communications Manager will lead iniva’s communications for a four-year fixed-term
project (3 days per week), with responsibilities evolving across the project — from setting up systems
and plans in Year 1 to delivering public activity, website redevelopment and legacy outputs in later
phases.

Focusing on Living Legacies, the postholder will lead communications activity to grow and diversify
audiences while maintaining strong engagement with existing audiences. They will manage a small
communications team, including the Communications Coordinator, and coordinate different
freelancers over the life of the project, such as a PR Consultant, Website Developer and Podcast
Producer to deliver clear, consistent and values-led communication across the organisation.
Working closely with a freelance Website Developer and internal teams, the postholder will oversee
the redevelopment of iniva’s website, ensuring it is accessible, user-friendly and supports the
project’s digital content and long-term needs. They will also work collaboratively with the Senior
Fundraising Manager, Project Manager and Project Curator to ensure joined-up, timely storytelling that
reflects the aims of the project and supports audience engagement.

Project Specific Duties

The duties below reflect the role across its four-year term. Activity in Years 1–2 will focus on
communications planning, audience development, team coordination and early digital work. Website
redevelopment (Years 2–3) and press activity for exhibitions (Years 3–4) will increase in later phases.
Not all responsibilities will be active at the same time.

Communications Strategy, Planning and Audience Development

• To review, refine and deliver the Living Legacies Communications Plan in collaboration with the wider project team, ensuring alignment with audience development goals, legacy planning and funder expectations.
• To lead audience development activity for Living Legacies, balancing growth and diversification with the retention of iniva’s existing audiences.
• To ensure consistent application of iniva and Living Legacies brand, tone of voice and values across all communications outputs.
• To establish and maintain communications systems, workflows and standards to support effective delivery across the team and with external contributors.
• To manage marketing, communications and documentation budgets ensuring activity is delivered within agreed resources for the organisation.

Website Redevelopment & Digital Experience

• To provide oversight of the redevelopment of iniva’s website (2027-2028), working closely with the Website Developer and internal stakeholders to ensure the site meets accessibility standards, audience engagement objectives and digital preservation needs.
• To manage the Website Developer and relevant budget lines to deliver a user-friendly, accessible website that supports archival access, digital outputs and the wider public programme.
• To ensure the website reflects the interpretive aims of Living Legacies and supports long-term access to project outputs, including oral histories, exhibitions and archival content.
• To gather and commission content from project partners and programme leads to ensure inclusive, participant-led storytelling is reflected across digital platforms.

Content, Campaigns & Creative Management

•  To oversee the creation, scheduling and publication of engaging digital content for Living Legacies, working with the Communications Coordinator across social media, email newsletters and website updates to raise awareness of the project, grow and engage existing and new audiences, and share stories, opportunities and project milestones.
• To commission and manage promotional materials, including digital and print assets, working with graphic designers, photographers, videographers and other freelance creatives to create compelling content that reflects the project's values and reaches diverse audiences.
•  To provide clear briefs, quality control and sign-off for commissioned content, ensuring outputs are on brand, accessible, high quality and delivered on schedule, and support meaningful engagement with participants, partners and audiences.
• To coordinate the promotion of project events and exhibitions, including digital and print listings, invitations, ticketing and on-site communications logistics, helping to maximise attendance, participation and the visibility of Living Legacies across communities and partner networks.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• To oversee monitoring and evaluation of communications activity for Living Legacies, drawing on digital engagement data across web, email and social media platforms to understand audience reach, engagement and impact.
• To lead on communications-related reporting for senior management, the Board and funders, working with the Communications Coordinator to collate insights, data and evidence that demonstrate impact, learning and audience development.
• To use evaluation findings to inform ongoing communications strategy, audience development activity and project learning.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

• To work collaboratively with the Project Manager, Project Curator, Senior Fundraising Manager and wider iniva team to ensure consistent messaging, joined-up communications and coordinated project delivery across all strands.
• To support shared understanding of communications priorities across exhibitions, podcasts, oral histories and community engagement activity, ensuring coherence of messaging and audience experience.

Press & Public Relations

•  To provide oversight and be the main point of contact for press and media activity for LivingLegacies, setting priorities, approving messaging and coordinating delivery with the Freelance PR Consultant, annually for three major project exhibitions and public programme (2027-2030).
• Liaise with external PR consultants to support programme promotion, ensuring assets and information are shared accurately and on time.
• To support the development and approval of press materials, including press releases and image assets, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with project messaging and organisational values.
• To oversee media listings, press scheduling and coverage tracking, using insights to inform future communications planning in consultation with the PR Consultant.
• To ensure compliance with funder branding and visibility requirements, including National Lottery Heritage Fund acknowledgement guidelines.

The Operations Team play a key role in achieving this vision.

You will be responsible for ensuring the Charity achieves its aims and objectives and fulfils its operational plan effectively by providing high quality support services, providing person centred long- term mentoring for young people.

Key Duties:

• Coordinate onboarding of young people, including the initial assessment, and developing 12 individualised sessions bespoke to each young person.

• Leading a commercially focused marketing strategy that drives course bookings, supports partnership income and strengthens NCT’s visibility with parents. 
• Setting clear campaign cycles and making sure paid, owned and earned channels work together as a coordinated system. 
• Acting as guardian of NCT’s brand, ensuring clarity, consistency and integrity across marketing, communications and wider organisational activity. 
• Leading NCT’s Content Studio, making sure content is high quality, accessible, audience-led and aligned with our brand, messaging and tone of voice.
• Overseeing marketing performance, including paid media, agency relationships, campaign KPIs, budget management and reporting. 
• Using insight, performance data, brand tracking and parent feedback to improve marketing activity and support better decisions. 
• Building strong relationships across NCT, helping teams work together effectively and reducing silos around shared priorities.
• Leading and developing your team with clarity, trust and clear expectations, creating the conditions for people to do their best work.

About you 

You’ll be a strategic, commercially minded marketing leader who understands how to turn insight into action and activity into measurable results. 

You’ll be confident leading integrated campaigns, managing budgets and using performance data to make decisions. You’ll understand how brand, content, audience insight, digital channels and commercial outcomes connect, and you’ll be able to bring those elements together in a clear, focused and practical way. 

You’ll also be someone who can create pace without creating confusion. You’ll set direction clearly, help people prioritise, and give teams the confidence to move forward. You won’t wait for everything to be perfect before making progress, but you’ll have the judgement to know where quality, consistency and risk need careful attention. 

Alongside this, you’ll be a collaborative and inclusive leader who enjoys working across an organisation, building strong relationships and helping others see how marketing can support shared goals. 

You’ll bring: 

• Experience of leading integrated marketing activity that supports income growth, customer acquisition or commercial performance. 
• Strong understanding of brand, content, campaigns and channel planning, including how different channels work together. 
• Confidence using data, insight and performance reporting to shape strategy and improve activity. 
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting spend, and making decisions about return on investment. 
• Strong judgement, with the ability to balance brand building, income performance, audience needs and organisational priorities.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:

The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse and breaking the cycle of abuse by providing support for children and young people in the refuge and in the community and supporting children and young people to keep safe.

• Providing support, advice and assistance to women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge.
• Empowering and supporting women to make positive choices.
• Establishing resettlement services to support women to move on from refuge accommodation.
• The post-holder work as part of the refuge team, with clients who live in the refuge after being referred via the Front Door Service

About Stop Domestic Abuse:

Stop Domestic Abuse is a proud women-led organisation supporting victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse across Portsmouth and Hampshire. Our vision is a world without domestic abuse, and we work to ensure that it’s ‘everyone’s business.’

We provide refuge and community-based support, delivering in a trauma-informed way for adults, children and young people, tailored to individual needs. Our 19 refuges offer safe, welcoming homes, and across our services we provide one-to-one support and group activities to help improve their safety and to meet others with similar experiences. We support children process their experiences and help regain a sense of safety.

Our UP2U programmes support those seeking to change abusive behaviours, and we also offer specialist support for victims of stalking. We also deliver training to professionals, including the hair and beauty industry, to recognise domestic abuse and connect people to specialist support services.
