We are looking for an Operational Manager – Prison Services

About the role:

You will manage the prisons advocacy services and teams for unsentenced and sentenced women within the custodial settings at HMP Peterborough and HMP Bronzefield. You will have a great understanding of the prison systems and regime including some of the challenges faced.

You will be an inspirational leader, responsible for recruiting, developing and managing a team and will be responsible for coordinating, reporting, and the delivery of the related services as commissioned by the Ministry of Justice. You will be accountable for managing your teams safely and securely whilst carrying out all activities within the prison setting.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced trusts and grants fundraiser to lead the Charity's trusts, grants and foundations strategy. The role aims to secure multi-year four, five and six-figure grants and build a reliable, sustainable income stream. Reporting to the Fundraising Lead, you'll develop and manage a robust pipeline end-to-end (research, cultivation, application, reporting and renewal), write compelling cases for support and tailored proposals, and work closely with service delivery and finance colleagues to shape fundable projects with clear, measurable outcomes. You'll also steward existing funders through high-quality communications and reporting, keep accurate records and insight on income trends, and act as the internal specialist point of reference on the UK grant funding landscape.
The successful candidate will bring significant experience of securing and managing substantial trust/foundation and/or statutory income, with a demonstrable track record of delivering against annual targets and building a healthy pipeline. You'll be confident working independently and proactively, able to develop strong cross-organisational relationships, and comfortable picking up the phone to develop new funder relationships. About the role
● The role is 37.5 hours per week with occasional planned evening and weekend working as required.
● Options for flexible and hybrid working, with an average of 1 day per month at the Whitney Sawmills office
● 25 days plus Bank/Public holidays as paid leave (pro rata)

● You will report to the Co Chairs and the Culture Action Group (Co Chairs, Past Chair, Treasurer)
● You will line manage the Engagement Manager, Project Manager, a seconded AOD administrator, work closely with a group of freelance fundraising, finance and operational support and lead a wider team of 3. In addition you will have key relationships with the sawmill manager, directors and team. An organisational chart will be provided to shortlisted candidates
● Lead on the charity’s relationship with Whitney Sawmills and their Directors, a business owned by Woodland Heritage
● Employer contribution to Nest Pensions.
