Overview

High energy costs are a nightmare for millions of UK households, while huge profits are made at our expense. Poor housing and heating systems are a key part of the problem, along with dependence on polluting, climate-changing fossil fuels. FPA is a campaigning organisation that sets out to attack the root causes of fuel poverty along with the specific injustices facing people and communities. We want to see the UK’s energy system decarbonised as rapidly as possible, with a just transition for communities and workers that includes affordability. 

Working closely with pensioners groups, trades unions, disabled campaigners, tenants’ organisations and others on the frontline of fuel poverty, we’re using protest and direct action to fight for real, sustainable solutions to the cold homes crisis. We are looking for a committed operations person and fundraiser who shares our passion and values, to oversee systems and processes which support our strategy and core team to do their best work.

About the role

Fuel Poverty Action (FPA) was started in 2011 by climate activists who wanted to ensure that the green energy transition doesn’t happen at the expense of those with less social and economic power. Rather, they saw the break with fossil fuels as an opportunity to end the scourge of fuel poverty in the UK - a chance to rethink priorities and design inequality out of the energy system.

We are seeking a new, well-organised Operations Lead to slot into this structure, to take care of administrative and operational functions and support the Directors with fundraising: bids, budgets and reports, managing relationships with funders and cultivating a donor pipeline.

This role would suit someone familiar with the operational and HR elements of running a company or organisation, somebody with management experience who is caring and collaborative and comfortable juggling a varied workload.

Critically, we are seeking someone who shares our political vision, as reflected in the Energy For All manifesto (link in attachment). 

Key responsibilities

• Administration: Managing the email inbox; maintaining up to date contacts and mailing lists; developing and refining systems, processes and platforms to support internal and campaign activities.
• Information management: Ensuring high standards of record keeping, data protection and secure information storage across the organisation, enabling staff and members to share and access resources and know-how. 
• Fundraising: Creating and implementing a three-year fundraising plan; managing existing donor relationships and completing reports; working with directors/fundraising volunteers on grant bids and budgets.
• Line management: Providing light touch management for at least one colleague.
• HR functions: Overseeing recruitment and onboarding of new staff and freelancers, overseeing HR policies and contracts, identifying training needs and opportunities.
• Strategic thinking: Inputting into FPA’s long and short term strategic plans, with an eye to the setting and monitoring of appropriate targets.
• Writing and editing: Including overseeing the production of our Annual Report.
• Events: Organising online and in-person events and meetings, including annual strategy days and a 2026 conference.

Compensation Policy 

We’ll compensate team members on the following basis:

• All salaried team members are contracted on the same terms and conditions

• We have a 30 hour week maximum for all team members - most commonly worked as 4 x 7.5 hour days

• Team members are paid an equitable and sustainable compensation rate which is the pro rate equivalent to a full-time (5 day) salary of £40-45,000, regardless of role or level of experience

• Our compensation rates have been set following Platform’s best practice Social Justice Waging System:

Annual salary (30 hours per week):

• Band 1 - No dependents or children and inherited wealth: £32,000 

• Band 2 - One or more children or dependents and inherited wealth OR No inherited wealth but no children or dependents: £34,000

• Band 3 - One or more more children or dependents and no inherited wealth: £36,000

What will you do?

This newly formed role will be embedded within the site management team. To be successful in this role, applicants will be required to:

• Assist the Senior Premises Officer with maintenance tasks as required to ensure a safe and effective working environment. Must be able perform basic repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting, changing locks etc.)
• Assist with water testing, testing of alarms and other routine tasks as directed.
• Set and un-set the site alarm systems when required.
• Assist with the opening and closing, unlocking and locking of the site gates and buildings, including evening and weekend use.
• Be responsible for the security of the site when on duty including the locking of all doors and windows.
• Assist the events manager with delivery of events, particularly during evenings and weekends.
• Assist with the cleaning of the site as and when needed.
• Assist with room setup and moving of furniture safely. This includes preparing spaces to host events and functions, packing down and cleaning afterwards. And to service ongoing regular lettings.

Context and Background

The NSPCC’s purpose is to prevent the abuse and neglect of children across the UK.

The Strategy and Knowledge (S&K) Directorate exists to help shape the world around us - and what the NSPCC does - so that it reflects what we have learned and can help keep children safe from abuse.

The Directorate is responsible for organisational strategy, developing and influencing public policy, championing an evidence-based approach in all our work, developing innovative services and managing our knowledge and information.

This role within our Policy and Public Affairs team will assist in delivering our influencing campaigns asking for public support to persuade government to change laws and policies to better protect children and young people. This exciting role will play a pivotal part supporting the team’s work so we are able to deliver large-scale, impactful campaigns in support of the NSPCC’s policy priorities and our organisational strategy.

Job purpose

This role will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of the NSPCC’s campaigns to mobilise the public behind our influencing goals and galvanise decision makers to act. The postholder will:

Overview

FearFree delivers services across the Southwest for victims, children and perpetrators of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking with the aim to break the cycle of abuse and support all to live free from fear. We provide trauma responsive support, and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

This ISAC role is set within the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse service, providing specialist stalking advice, consultancy and support to high risk victims of domestic abuse stalking across Wiltshire. You will be working in a multiagency environment including police, other statutory bodies and third sector organisations to respond to and safeguard high risk victims, bridging gaps in their support.

FearFree is committed to flexible and hybrid working and this role will be a mix of home based and office based, alongside requiring travel for multi-agency meetings and other deliverables.

This role may include evening and weekend work when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with high risk victims of domestic abuse stalking, providing a targeted service, promoting safety as the central issue and thus reducing the risk of serious harm or death.
• To provide this service both at time of crisis and in longer term e.g. safety planning, risk assessing advocacy, support through the criminal justice/civil legal process and liaison with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
• Complete specialist risk assessments (SASH and DASH).
• Manage a caseload ensuring each person receives the appropriate service individual to their risk and needs.
• Provide proactive, trauma responsive and holistic support, with a focus on increasing safety and reducing risk.
• Work with criminal justice agencies as well as a variety of partners including Victim Support, Children’s Social Care and Housing, to ensure a comprehensive approach to risk.
• Provide specialist advocacy to victims going through the criminal justice process.
• Attend Multi Agency meetings (Stalking Clinic) and Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) meetings as required.
• Give information and support to those experiencing stalking, enabling and empowering them to make positive choices about options available to them and assist them in regaining control of their lives.
• Support other agencies in the identification and referral of stalking issues via promotion of service and institutional advocacy.
• Offer professional consultancy, training and advice to other agencies on stalking.
• Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services works in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of survivors ensuring the service is accessible to all.

The post holder will take responsibility for the efficient day-to-day administration of the Trust’s membership schemes, using the Charity CRM database to maintain accurate contact & financial records in line with GDPR. This includes processing new, renewing and lapsed memberships, handling payments ( Direct Debits, PayPal & Gift Aid) and providing consistently high-quality communication with members through enquiries, welcome packs, renewal reminders and supporter care.

You’ll also support member growth and retention by helping deliver key supporter journey communications, thanking activity and retention projects, and by liaising with external partners such as the membership recruitment agency. This is a unique and rewarding role that combines direct survivor support, specialist partnership work, and awareness-raising in the community.

Supporting male survivors at standard and medium risk  

• Provide one-to-one, trauma-informed support to men affected by domestic abuse.

Survivor support alongside the Your Choice Project (YCP)  

• Work in line with Respect Standards, which ensure that survivors are supported while their partner or ex-partner attends the YCP behaviour change programme.  

• Deliver specialist parallel support to male survivors, ensuring their voice, safety and wellbeing remain central.  

• Collaborate closely with YCP colleagues to provide a balanced, holistic approach to safety and recovery.  

Community outreach and awareness-raising  

• Attend and run events across Nottinghamshire to connect directly with male survivors and the professionals who may encounter them.  

• Deliver training and briefings to raise awareness of male survivors’ experiences and increase professional confidence in responding to them.

Purpose of role

The Senior Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in building the operational foundations and risk-aware culture needed for success both now and as the organisation prepares for the future.

Primary responsibilities

Operational leadership & delivery
