Summary job description

We are currently recruiting a Marine Spatial Data Analyst to provide technical stewardship of Blue Ventures' spatial data system, ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality spatial data, dashboards and decision-support tools that support community-based fisheries management. This role will combine spatial data management, database administration, data visualisation and user engagement, while supporting marine spatial planning analyses and the development of user-centred decision-support tools.

Working closely with the Head of Spatial Ecology, Ecological Data Scientist and the wider Data Science team, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and improving Blue Ventures' spatial data infrastructure, ensuring it remains reliable, well-documented and responsive to programme needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spatial data management and analysis, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for using data to support community-led conservation. Reporting to the Head of Spatial Ecology, this is a full-time remote role, with occasional international travel to work closely with colleagues, partners, field teams and communities.

Roles across the Data Science team are highly interdependent, and candidates must be equally comfortable working independently: competently driving their own tasks and team priorities, and thriving within a small, collaborative team. About you:

We are seeking an established income-generation leader who combines strategic and commercial judgement with a willingness to remain hands-on. The successful candidate will have a strong record of securing significant income, identifying new opportunities and building effective relationships with funders, commissioners and partners. The role will oversee the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy and funding pipeline. The Head of Principal Giving will focus on developing and securing transformational philanthropic support from some of the University's most significant donors and prospects. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, senior academic leaders, Campaign Board members and influential volunteers, you will help shape the next phase of principal giving at Durham.

You will manage a carefully selected portfolio of high-potential relationships, leading conversations that result in seven- and eight-figure gifts. Alongside securing major commitments, you will help strengthen Durham's principal giving capability, build a sustainable pipeline of future support and contribute to the success of the bicentenary campaign.

The role also offers the opportunity to engage with philanthropists and global networks across key international markets, including North America and Asia, helping to unlock new opportunities for investment in Durham's future.

What we are looking for
We are interested in experienced fundraising professionals who have secured significant philanthropic support and enjoy building long-term relationships with donors, colleagues and partners. You may already lead a major or principal giving programme within a university, or bring experience from another setting where you have worked with major philanthropists, family foundations, trusts, corporates or high-profile supporters.

You will be comfortable operating at a senior level, building credibility with influential stakeholders and translating complex ideas into compelling opportunities for support. You will be collaborative, thoughtful and motivated by the impact philanthropy can have on people's lives. About the role

Reporting in to the Individual Giving Lead, the Senior Individual Giving Acquisition Officer will drive the strategy and execution of Christian Aid’s individual giving acquisition efforts, ensuring high impact campaigns like Christian Aid Week, Christmas and Emergency Appeals effectively attract new supporters. Through compelling messaging and innovative approaches, foster long-term, sustainable relationships,
optimising channels, products, and engagement strategies to maximise supporter growth.

The post-holder will lead on Regular Giving acquisition recruitment across multiple channels to grow lifetime giving and increasing the Christian Aid supporter base. They will be leading a team of two Individual Giving Acquisition Officers and collaborating with senior leadership, manage budgets, forecast the performance of campaigns and ensure cost-effective delivery, all while championing the ‘Believe in the Possible’ proposition to inspire and engage the next generation of supporters.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Individual Giving Acquisition Officer includes:

• Lead the development and execution of the Individual Giving acquisition strategy, leveraging on key appeals like Christian Aid Week and Christmas to recruit and engage new supporters.
• Empower people and amplify change, optimise acquisition channels, refine messaging, and test new products to attract and retain both one-off and regular givers, ensuring long-term growth and engagement.
• Prioritise and lead the Regular giving recruitment strategy across multiple channels, supporting our ambition to build back and grow recruitment and supporters lifetime value.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless and effective campaign delivery, maximising impact across multiple platforms.
• Analyse supporter data, providing actionable insights that enhance campaign effectiveness and engagement, continually refining approaches for greater success.
• Manage and mentor Individual Giving Acquisition Officers, fostering professional growth and driving performance within the team.
• Contribute to the broader Individual Giving strategy, cultivating an ambitious team culture that embraces innovation and excellence.
• Oversee reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to maintain financial sustainability and ensure the efficient allocation of resources.

• Significant experience in leading supporter acquisition programmes and activities across a range of channels.

• Developed knowledge of legal requirements for fundraising, direct marketing, and data protection.

• Demonstrable experience in managing and mentoring a team.

• Marketing qualification (e.g. IDM, CIOF).
• Experience in DRTV and face-to-face fundraising.

The Major Giving team is made up of corporate partnerships, philanthropy and trusts and raises £6 million a year from our partners, funders and donors. It is part of the Income Generation directorate, which includes Individual Giving, Organisational Insight and Supporter Relations.

Working closely with all areas of the organisation, we match high-net-worth individuals, funders and partners to our projects and campaigns and motivate them to give significant gifts to Friends of the Earth.

For nearly 30 years, we have provided free, trauma-informed counselling, therapeutic groups, and workshops to help women rebuild their emotional wellbeing.
