A Typical Night in the Role
Your shift will start with a handover from the day team before you prepare for the night ahead. You may host activities like a film night to build community spirit, but you’ll also be prepared to de-escalate challenging situations, offer emotional support, and ensure all residents feel safe.

Summary of Main Duties and Objectives of the Job:

About the Role
As an IDVA (Early Help) you will provide immediate support for survivors of abuse, working with Early Help, and wider Children's Social Services, including carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing short-term support and onward referrals. In addition, you will act as an Early Help lead for Solace in Islington, providing advice and guidance to Solace staff and Islington based professionals.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with external agencies in your work.
About You
You’ll be highly organised, self-motivated and passionate about ending VAWG and hold a solid understanding of how domestic or sexual violence against a parent can affect a child in the home. Your “can-do‟ approach, experience of working with families and demonstrable commitment to Solace’s feminist approach to supporting women and their children to be safer will be critical to the success of this role.
The postholder will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children, experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of VAWG and a strong understanding of statutory systems including housing and social care.
A relevant qualification in VAWG is desirable.
Additional Information
The is a part-time post at 28 hours per week. The salary for this role is £21,940 - £22,901 pro-rata of £29,385 - £30,671 (Unqualified) or £21,940 - £24,967 pro-rata of £30,671 - £33,438 (Qualified). The successful candidate will be appointed at the entry point of the scale.
This role involves being co-located multiple days per week within Islington’s Family Hubs, and at our Head Office.

Islington Refuge Service provides emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and sexual violence. Sessional play workers deliver high-quality safe fun activities that include a combination of enrichment activities, physical games and sports and nutritional education to children up to the age of 14.
About the Role
As a Children Sessional Play Worker, you will be involved in the planning and delivery of a variety of sessions and activities for children and young people at the refuge. This includes listening to children’s ideas to design services around their needs, choices, and aspirations. You will support and involve children in activities which are playful, stimulating, and enjoyable.
You will work alongside the Family Support Worker, encouraging all children to take part and have as much fun as possible whilst helping to develop children's learning, well-being, and social skills.
About You
You will have experience of working with children and you are passionate about play as well as dedicated to providing a welcoming and safe space for all children - supervising the children and ensuring their safety at all times.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on children as well as practical experience of working with children and within a team. You will also need to demonstrate a proven ability to work on your own initiative and under supervision. A minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in child-care /play/ youthwork /sports/coaching or creative arts is desirable. Responsibilities include engaging with residents, helping prepare meals, supporting sentence plans with probation and police partners, and assisting with admin and activity delivery. Our peripatetic team provide front-line support to Solace’s Advice, Community and Accommodation-based Services across London. Crisis Intervention Workers enable our services to deliver a consistent high standard of service.
About the Role
In all services, Peripatetic workers provide non-judgmental, confidential, and psychologically informed support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Typical activity includes risk assessments, safety planning, and working with survivors to develop individual support plans. Other roles require house management, outreach and health and safety tasks.
Peripatetic workers will work in a variety of roles across Solace’s services, which offers our Peripatetic workers the ability to continually develop their knowledge, casework skills, advocacy skills, multi-agency working, and ability to manage and thrive in a changing environment.
About You
The Peripatetic Team is dynamic you will enter services at short notice to provide a continued high-quality level of support. Our colleagues bring a wide range of transferable skills and different experiences to the team that informs our practice and work with survivors.
You’ll be a passionate advocate who understands the importance of working in a psychologically informed way with both survivors and colleagues, and you will be willing to continuously learn and develop their skills. You have a good understanding of impact that violence against women and girls can have on women with intersecting identities. While prior experience of working with survivors of abuse is desirable, it is not an essential requirement.
Additional Information
Our Peripatetic workers are required to work across London and will move around these boroughs– Barnet, Bexley, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Lambeth, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Westminster, Waltham Forest and may be on site full time or agile work.
Working patterns are typically Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm however this role includesweekend cover and shift pattern work. Hybrid working may be available in some services, but it is not possible for all.

You will be working with a range of clients within the Dialogue Thresholds and working to a 6-8 session model. You will be working alongside another experienced Dialogue School Counsellor and working closely with the Student Services Pastoral team at the college.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about making a difference to lives of the children they work with. You will provide an ethical, professional counselling service at Felpham Community College and will establish good professional working relationships with key school staff.
This will include discussion of referrals, managing a session timetable within the school day and agreeing a process for students coming to and from sessions.
You will be required to undertake assessments with parents/carers and counselling sessions with children, complete all associated admin and attend regular clinical supervision and line management meetings.

You will have a genuine interest in working with children and young people of primary and secondary school age, together with experience of building effective therapeutic relationships. Experience of working within a school setting would be advantageous.
