The Operations Manager is a new leadership position that will play a pivotal role in the delivery of FFLAG’s operations which span online, offline, and local group support for parents and carers of LGBT+ loved ones. We also want you to bring experience of fundraising to help ensure we stay financially secure for the long term.

About FFLAG

FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity and is the UK’s longest established parent support charity in the LGBT+ sector. Our history began in the grassroots parent helplines of the 1960s, grew through the 1980’s and 90’s as we supported anxious parents and fought against the discrimination of Section 28, becoming a formally registered charity in 2000.

Our work sounds simple, but it is life changing. We help parents and families understand, accept and support their LGBT+ family members with love and pride.

We offer a range of support options spanning 121 online and helpline support services, to a UK-wide monthly group Zoom meeting and face to face local groups. We also have an extensive collection of online resources and guides.  We attend as many Pride events as we can and our work supports thousands of families every year. This support is provided by an active base of FFLAG volunteers who are parents of LGBT+ children themselves, supported by other volunteers and allies. 

In addition to our support work, FFLAG advocates for the full human and civil rights of LGBT+ individuals. FFLAG speaks out and acts to defend and enhance those human and civil rights. 

What this job is all about

Simply put, as Operations Manager you will ensure the charity's activities are effective, sustainable, and aligned with our mission to support families with LGBT+ members

Reporting directly to the Chair, working closely with the Board of Trustees and supported by a part-time Volunteer Engagement & Events Coordinator you will:

• Lead and supervise the daily operational functions, ensuring smooth and compliant delivery of services.
• Lead fundraising activities, including grant applications, donor stewardship, and partnership development.
• Manage and support staff and volunteers, nurturing a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.
• Support the Trustees to ensure compliance with all relevant UK charity legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., Charity Commission, safeguarding, risk management, data protection).
• Collaborate with the Chair and Board of Trustees to develop and implement strategic plans, with clear KPIs and measurable outcomes.

What else might you be involved in?

Because this is a new role we expect to learn together about what additional activities you can support us with beyond the key priorities mentioned above.  This could include helping us to: 

• Monitor and report on operational performance, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.
• Oversee financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring resources are used efficiently and transparently.
• Oversee communications and stakeholder engagement, including public relations, digital presence including website and social media, and community outreach.
• Act as an ambassador for FFLAG at events, forums, and in collaborative partnerships.

What are the skills and attributes you will need to be successful?

As the most senior employed position in the charity, we need an experienced operational leader that can grow with us. You will be self-motivated and enjoy working independently without the need for close supervision.  

In terms of specific areas of skill or experience we are looking for people who can demonstrate previous experience of:

• Operational Leadership: Demonstrable experience in a senior operations role, ideally within the charity or voluntary sector.
• Fundraising: Experience supporting or leading fundraising campaigns and developing income streams.
• Governance: Knowledge of UK charity governance and regulatory compliance.
• People Management: Confident in leading, motivating, and developing a small team and volunteers.
• Commitment to Inclusion: Passionate about equality, diversity, and supporting the LGBT+ community and their families.

As an experienced leader we would also expect you to have:

• Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage charity finances, budgets, and reporting processes.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to represent the organisation externally.
• Strategic Thinking: Able to translate vision into actionable plans and execute effectively.
• Problem Solving: Resourceful, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
• Digital Skills: Comfortable with digital tools and platforms, social media, and remote/hybrid work practices.

As set out in the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s 2025-30 Strategy, the NCN Directorate leads on the building of a walking, wheeling and cycling network that brings everyone closer to the places and people they love. In this role, you are a senior leader responsible for driving major portfolios and programmes that support the National Cycle Network. You work closely with the Head of Delivery for England to make sure projects are well‑managed, stay within budget, and are completed on time. You provide strategic direction, oversee programmes and projects, plan effectively, and build strong relationships with partners. You also lead and support your team to ensure that the work is high‑quality and sustainable.

The successful candidate will work within an innovative tenant-led partnership called Ageing Well in Place in Hulme (AWiPiH) which includes tenants and community groups; local and national charities; GPs; housing providers; and support from a local university. 

You will enable older and vulnerable people experiencing multiple disadvantage in high rise accommodation to 'age well in place' through one-to-one casework within a managed caseload and with supervisory support from a GP Fellow. You will work in collaboration with tenant committees; an Ageing Well Development Worker; the GP Fellow; and housing provider neighbourhood teams across two high-rise blocks. AWiPiH takes a preventative and proactive approach to wellbeing including health promotion, improved access to social care, housing adaptations, signposting on welfare rights, income maximisation and social participation. This role requires a person-centred and solution-focused approach to supporting people experiencing multiple and complex issues.

You will have a hybrid working arrangement including some working from home; some working based at a local GP practice; and on-site working across two neighbouring accommodation blocks in Hulme, central Manchester.

About You:

• You have a passion for enabling older/vulnerable people to live with dignity and independence in their own home.
• You are good at building trusting relationships with people while also maintaining boundaries and being mindful of your own levels of resilience.
• You are confident carrying out solution-oriented casework with people experiencing multiple-disadvantage amidst the current crisis in health and social care services.
• You are experienced in person-centred support planning and risk assessment.

Purpose of role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role at Lumos at a time of organisational strengthening and global growth. • Contribute expert insight, options, and analysis to the development of the People strategy, operating model, and organisational priorities.

• Own and oversee the operational delivery and quality assurance of the full employee lifecycle across all geographies.
• Ensure consistent, values-led, and safer recruitment practices are embedded across Lumos.
• Lead the design and delivery of high-quality induction and onboarding, embedding EDI, duty of care, and organisational culture from the outset.
• Oversee probation, performance cycles, development, progression, and exit processes.
• Ensure leaver processes, exit interviews, and data capture support organisational learning.

Performance, capability & leadership development

• Lead the implementation and embedding of Lumos’ performance management framework.
• Oversee annual objective-setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
• Build leadership and line manager capability through training, guidance, and coaching.
• Enable managers to take confident ownership of people management, feedback, and performance conversations.

Job Summary for Evaluation and Evidence Specialist

This role forms a key part of a new Strategy & Insight Team at Bowel Cancer UK, which seeks to build core capabilities to enable us to be as effective as we can be for people affected by bowel cancer. 37% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds left primary school in England in 2025 unable to read to the expected standard (KS2 attainment data 24-25) . Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children. 

This ELI role, reporting to the Senior ELI Programme Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.

You will conduct initial baseline assessments and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Baca office, Cambridge, England. The role may require regular travel to locations where Baca’s services are delivered.

Salary: £31,200 per annum for full time hours. Equivalent to £18,720 per annum for 22.5 hours. The role also comes with an allowance of £2,301 (pro rata) for Cambridge cost of living.

Working hours: 22.5 hours a week.

About Baca: Baca is dedicated to supporting young refugees aged 16 to 18. Our mission is to empower these young individuals to become positive, independent contributors to society. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Creative Arts Therapist to join our team and lead the delivery of our arts therapy program.

Overall Purpose: To use creative therapy methods to help young people express their emotions, process their emotional wellbeing, and build inner resilience for a brighter future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead therapeutic interventions using creative modalities (art, dance, drama, or music) to enhance young people's resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and external partners to deliver comprehensive support.
• Support young people in achieving outcomes such as increased personal safety, improved physical and emotional wellbeing, and greater engagement in education, employment, and social activities.
• Assess emotional health needs and recommend improvements, while sensitively challenging young people to develop positive routines and habits.
• Deliver therapeutic sessions (both 1-to-1 and group) in a safe and secure environment.
• Contribute to team discussions and refer young people to other mental health professionals as needed.
• Enable young people to express themselves creatively and culturally, fostering confidence and resilience.
• Ensure all young people are safeguarded from harm and supported to self-protect.
• Maintain session notes, therapy spaces, and materials, and handle administrative tasks.
• Participate in meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
• Embrace and practice Baca's Vision, Mission, and Values in daily activities.

Personal Specification:

• A qualified art therapist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) (or equivalent for your modality).
• Passionate about Baca's mission and values, and able to lead by example.
• Supportive, approachable, responsible, reliable, and personable.
• Organised, creative, practical, and able to manage a varied workload.
• Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to develop key external relationships and work well within a family-like organisational culture.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and travel across the UK as required.
• Enhanced DBS check required.
• Ability to drive/travel to all locations where Baca’s service is delivered .
