Young Citizens is seeking a Business Development and Special Projects Lead to support a critical year of fundraising, income generation and partnership development. This role supports the special projects work with the CEO and will work with the senior team to lead on the income and visibility opportunities that unlock our delivery for our three-year strategy.
Your Role’s Purpose
Year 1 of this role will be focused on business model development, income generation and strategic partnerships. Who We’re Looking For
This role is not just open to traditional fundraisers or partnership managers. As long as you have the seniority and expertise leading results, you might come from a charity, social enterprise, consultancy, policy or start-up background. What matters most is your ability to confidently progress a pipeline of opportunities, build partnerships, generate income and deliver results.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an ambitious, dynamic senior social worker to lead, deliver and develop our SAFE Project, a pan-London project dedicated to providing advocacy support for stalking victims aged 11-16 (or up to age 25 with particular vulnerabilities), funded by Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong senior operational experience. You will need to be able to think on your feet and work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment. This first-of-its-kind project, co-designed with partner organisation Safer London, will seek to fill in important gaps in understanding, assessing and supporting young people experiencing stalking. You will work closely to ensure that systems are robust, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of vulnerable children, while embedding the service into the wider ecosystem of London specialist services driving change.
Reporting to the Head of Pan London Stalking Support Service, you will provide expert advice and advocacy to children, young people and their families, ensuring the SAFE Project has what it needs to deliver an outstanding service. You will be trainined as an Independent Stalking Advocate (ISA), hold a caseload, and over the course of the contract, you will support the upskilling of all ISAs on the team to be able to take children and young people's cases. In addition to leading on the development of the children and youth work provision, you will oversee a Young People's Experts by Experience group to ensure victim's voices are fed into project development.

We are a large-scale restoration and hospitality project in the Northwest Highlands with strong philanthropic and community commitments. The heart of our operation is on a remote and beautiful 766-acre island. In 2026 we will become a Scottish charity - The Tanera Project – with core purposes spanning rural regeneration, resilience building in our public services via the provision of respite breaks, and ecosystem restoration.
We are looking for a Team Lead to take on the coordination of our Land and Estates Team across our island and mainland properties, totalling 6,500 acres of grounds, in-bye land, woodland and hill. The team has a wide remit, including grasskeeping, landscaping, regenerative agriculture on a crofting-scale, livestock, stalking, fishing, horses, guest activities, and supporting our gardens, ecology and path teams with extra hands when needed. The team is five strong, supported by seasonal hands, volunteers and staff from other teams working multifunctionally.
Our land management approach balances production, nature, and heritage, with an emphasis on using the land to build communities. We share everything we do with guests and volunteers so planning for and delivering shared activities is a core part of the role. We deliver our activities with an impeccable aesthetic centred round heritage, industry and creativity, requiring a real eye for detail. The Land and Estates Team covers several core functions in the charity and has a diverse remit with competing priorities so this role will appeal to proven leaders, able to deliver both on the ground and in terms of planning and organisation. Regeneration
We are looking for an excellent coordinator with demonstrable experience in leading a team with a wide remit and proficiency in at least two of the team focus areas: grounds-keeping, agriculture, estate work, horses and working with guests and volunteers in an outdoor environment. The right candidate will be an experienced, creative, resourceful and flexible professional. They will have an interest in landscape scale regeneration that is attentive to heritage, productivity (food and more) and ecosystems. Our team comes from across the country and further afield. We have our own growing island community of staff, guests and volunteers, while also being embedded in mainland life in nearby crofting townships and villages. Purpose
The Philanthropy Leads, reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, are responsible for inspiring new prospective, cultivating and stewarding high-value donors into greater involvement with Christians Against Poverty. They aim to draw supporters closer to the work we do, deepening their relationship and support of CAP. Income from CAP’s major donors is vital for the future expansion of CAP in the UK.
Each Philanthropy Lead may be allocated one or more area of Philanthropy engagement in order to specialise in, but will be expected to support in any area as required. Such areas include:

Along with seeking direct support for the organisation Christians Against Poverty, there is also an expectation for the postholders to support the raising of funds for the wider movement, particularly for local Church frontline partners.
They themselves will be an experienced and confident relationship builder, communicator and fundraiser, cultivating relationships with high-value donors and partners to achieve ambitious targets.

Role
Accountabilities:
Strategic Implementation & Fundraising

Implementation of a strategic plan to significantly increase major donor income.

Implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for major donor income, aligned with CAP's overall strategic priorities.

Execution of market research and competitor analysis to identify new funding opportunities and best practice in Philanthropic fundraising.

Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, in order to identify points of engagement and draft appropriate funding bids.

Represent CAP at high-level events and conferences to build relationships with potential donors and partners.
Major Donor Development

Manage a designated caseload of high-net-worth individuals or trusts, cultivating deep and meaningful relationships.

Conduct face-to-face meetings, personalised communications, and bespoke stewardship plans to cultivate and steward major donors.

Develop compelling restricted funding projects to attract major donor investment.

Implement a donor recognition program to acknowledge and celebrate major donor support.
Philanthropy Team Membership

A member of the Philanthropy Team of our Mission and Movement Directorate.

Providing peer support and development with other members of the Philanthropy Team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

Work with the Head of Philanthropy to set ambitious targets and KPIs for the postholder, ensuring they are aligned with overall fundraising goals.

Ensure the timely submission of funding applications and effective stewardship of grant and donor relationships.

Implement robust systems and processes for donor relationship management, data analysis, and performance tracking.
Impact & Reporting

Ensure that the CRM is updated with engagements, proposal submissions and engagement plans in a timely fashion.

Develop compelling narratives and impact reports that effectively communicate the impact of major donor support.

Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and identify areas for improvement.

Provide regular updates on fundraising progress to the Head of Philanthropy.
Innovation & Best Practices

Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in major donor fundraising.

Implement innovative fundraising strategies, such as engaging new philanthropists, digital engagement, corporate engagement and high-impact events.

Evaluate philanthropy activities with the rest of the team and the Fundraising Insight & Innovation team to develop a deeper understanding of supporters and identify new prospects, making data-informed decisions.

Champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Philanthropy Team.

Create opportunities for supporters to engage at a senior level and deepen their relationship with CAP, working with the CEO and other senior staff.
Communications & Campaign Management:

Plan philanthropy initiatives that in order to produce excellent bids, proposals, events, and reports, delivered on time and within budget.

Coordinate with the Brand and Digital Engagement teams to align messaging and campaigns.

Hope is here. The Global Returns Project (GRP) is a UK charity unlocking new philanthropy to deliver urgent solutions for our planet.
We are a fast-moving nonprofit that makes donations to high-impact nature and climate charities simple – and we don’t take any fees. We’ve already mobilised nearly £2 million for top environmental solutions and are working to unlock at least £30 million annually by the end of the decade.
We are growing quickly: We expect annual fundraising to increase by 70% this year compared with last year.
The problem: Charities protecting our planet can turn the tide on climate change and nature loss. They have the skills, strategies and networks to deliver fast and global impact. But less than 2% of philanthropy goes to climate mitigation.
Our solution: In the UK alone, around £2 trillion sits with “HNW+” individuals – those holding between £100k and £30 million. Yet traditional philanthropy largely overlooks them. We’re unlocking this funding by offering trusted, pro bono advice and a simple, portfolio approach to giving. Our expertise in UK wealth advice offers a unique path to scalability and systems-change.
What we are looking for:
Job Title: Major Gifts and Partnerships Lead
We’re looking for a confident, experienced fundraiser to lead major-gift fundraising — securing transformational gifts from high-net-worth individuals while building wealth-adviser relationships that generate referral leads. You’ll own the full pipeline: prospecting, cultivation, making direct asks, closing and stewardship.
The ideal candidate will be excited to cultivate networks of wealth managers, private-client teams and other advisers to HNWIs, and to convert adviser introductions into committed support. You’ll also prospect independently for major gifts outside those referral streams.
To succeed you’ll master three distinct fundraising pitches: a business case for advisers; an impact case to persuade donors to support our portfolio charities; and a systems-change case to win backing for GRP’s operating costs (salaries, office costs, etc) to keep the charity running fee-free.
You’ll be comfortable making direct asks for funding, with evidence of having closed high-value gifts or multi-year commitments. You’ll be willing to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with everyday cultivation tasks. You’ll thrive in a small team, taking initiative and juggling priorities. Crucially, you’ll care deeply about climate and nature.
Experience required:
Substantial experience in frontline major gifts fundraising (as a guide, likely 5+ years), or an exceptional track record in adjacent fields (private client advisory, philanthropy advisory, etc).

Main duties and responsibilities:
Major gifts to GRP’s portfolio of charities
- Prospect, cultivate and convert major gifts from individuals to support GRP’s charity portfolio.
- Act as principal point of contact for HNW client referrals from GRP’s wealth-adviser network.
- Source and qualify major gift leads outside the adviser network and add them to the pipeline.
- Prepare tailored cases for support, bespoke asks and gift agreements for portfolio donors.
- Coordinate with team to ensure timely, high-quality, bespoke stewardship.
HNW wealth adviser relationships
- Prospect, cultivate and manage relationships with wealth managers, family offices, private-client teams, philanthropy advisers, etc as a referral stream for GRP.
- Present GRP’s proposition to advisers (meetings, presentations, webinars) and design adviser-facing materials when necessary.
- Develop initiatives to generate adviser referrals (events, webinars, co-branded materials) and track referral performance.
- Target and visit high-potential jurisdictions (e.g. Jersey, Guernsey) and other adviser hubs (est. once per month).
Major gifts to GRP’s operating costs
- Prospect, cultivate and convert major gifts to GRP’s core operating costs.
- Prepare business-case and budget materials that explain the strategic case for core funding.
- Pursue appropriate institutional core funders (trusts, foundations, family foundations) and draft proposals where needed.
Location: Centrally located, light and airy office on Regent Street, London. Minimum one day per week in the office. Approx. one day London/UK travel per week.
