About the role

Do you live in Glasgow or the surrounding area, have excellent local knowledge and the skills to nurture established relationships whilst building a pipeline of new income opportunities?

We’re looking for someone who can join the team to cover the maternity leave of our senior community fundraiser[SG1] . If you love connecting with people and want to make a difference for people affected by breast cancer, we’d love to hear from you.

Offered as a fixed term contract of 12 months this position will play a key part in developing our presence in Scotland. This is designed to grow long-term income through a new, locally based relationship fundraising team.

Primary location of role

This role is primarily based in our Glasgow office.  Our hybrid working model allows you to work up to 3 days per week at home.   Regular travel will be required to meet supporters in your region, as well as occasional travel to our London or Sheffield offices.

The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate financial and administrative services at Support Dogs. Working closely with the Finance Manager this role ensures compliance with legislative requirements and supports the smooth operation of the charity. 

Specific Duties:

• Process orders for goods and services on behalf of the Charity ensuring that appropriate authorisation is in place
• Enter and check invoices onto Sage 50 Accounts
• Ensure that all invoices are duly paid and remittances processed
• Check and process staff and volunteer expenses
• Set up new supplier accounts and maintain existing account details within the purchase ledger
• Support the Finance Manager with payment schedules
• Manage the petty cash
• Input credit card purchases and reconcile credit card statements
• Prepare spreadsheets to enter income onto Sage and CRM, from bank statements and remittance reports from online payment platforms, ensuring that all income is correctly recorded
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Support the Finance Manager in preparation of monthly management accounts
• Respond to accounts and financial queries from staff and volunteers
• Any other duties comparable with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training

In your role you will work closely with the local community and employers, supporting referrals onto the programme and identifying employment opportunities. You will enable participants to develop valuable work based skills and gain knowledge.

Your role will require you to be supportive and understanding, be able to deal with any issues that may arise confidently. You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to adapt them pending on what you are dealing with, communicating at different levels as key in this role.

War on Want challenges the root causes of poverty and injustice. We run impactful campaigns in the UK - and work with partner organisations across the Global South. We are currently relaunching our trade justice campaigning and are looking for an energetic early career campaigner to work on it. 

The trade system sits at the heart of the rigged global economy. It perpetuates social, economic and climate injustice. From fossil fuel corporations suing governments in secret courts, to British mining giants violently extracting minerals from countries in the Global South, to upholding neocolonial patterns of economic inequality. 

Our re-launched campaign will challenge these secret ‘ISDS’ courts and the dangerous global rush for critical minerals, while championing trade justice.

This is a diverse and challenging role. On a typical day, the successful candidate might be planning a panel discussion, producing social media content, meeting an MP, carrying out research, organising a protest, or coordinating with allied organisations. We are looking for an ambitious self-starter with a passion for social justice.

We are delighted to be supporting a leading charity in their search for a temporary Fundraising Assistant. This role provides vital administrative and logistical support to the Development team, ensuring consistent stewardship for individual donors and helping maintain an accurate, efficient fundraising operation during a busy period.

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support for donor relationships, including meeting logistics, travel bookings, preparing briefings, and recording communications.
• Support processing of individual donations, including creating gift receipts, thank‑you letters, and working with Finance to ensure correct allocation.
• Assist with planning donor events and meetings alongside senior leaders.
• Reconcile reports from online giving platforms and update internal systems.
• Produce donor research profiles and meeting briefs.
• Update fundraising collateral and proofread documents to ensure accuracy.

Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing multiple tasks and priorities.
• Experience using Salesforce or another fundraising CRM.
• Knowledge of the education or charity sector (desirable).
• Experience using online donation platforms (desirable).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
