Purpose of the job
Reporting to the Grants Manager, you will create a positive impact on young people across the UK by supporting the distribution of unrestricted multi-year grant funding delivered as part of our evolving offer to unlock youth work for all young people. Working with the Grants Manager, you will ensure we deliver at a high quality consistently.
Key responsibilities

Support the Grants Manager to deliver our evolving grants and capacity building provision to the youth sector; bringing together our work to ensure a streamlined offer

Support the grant making process including communications and outreach; application, selection, awarding, distribution, monitoring and evaluation working with the relevant departments.

Maintain and develop grant management processes through our grant management system, Microsoft Dynamics, and working in partnership with colleagues in Charity Services.

Develop and maintain processes for creating application forms on our Grant Management System, informing applicants of decisions and tracking grant disbursements.

Manage applications for funding through our grant management system and provide direct technical support to applicants.

The Head of Face-to-Face Fundraising provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the RSPB’s face-to-face fundraising programme across the UK.
This role is responsible for delivering significant annual supporter acquisition volumes, ensuring an exceptional supporter experience, maintaining sector-leading compliance and safeguarding standards, and building high-performing in-house fundraising teams.
As a senior leader within Fundraising, you will shape the future of the RSPB’s acquisition strategy, drive innovation within the face-to-face channel, and ensure sustainable long-term growth in regular giving and lead generation to support our mission of creating a world richer in nature.
Key Duties:
- Develop and implement an ambitious multi-year Face-to-Face strategy that drives sustainable acquisition growth and contributes to long-term supporter value.
- Lead budgeting, investment planning and forecasting for all F2F channels, ensuring accountability for ROI, cost-effectiveness, and delivery against income and acquisition targets.
- Lead the evolution of F2F propositions, messaging and materials to ensure they are insight-led, compliant, and aligned with the RSPB’s brand and fundraising strategies.
- Champion innovation across the programme, introducing new approaches to optimise ROI and reach new audiences.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes and competitor activity to ensure the programme remains compliant, competitive and forward-thinking.
- Act as the organisational lead for face-to-face fundraising compliance, ensuring all activity adheres to the Fundraising Regulator Code, Charity Commission guidelines and data protection legislation.
- Lead, develop and inspire a multi-disciplinary F2F team by fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, continuous improvement and supporter-centred behaviour.
- Work closely with insight teams to analyse performance data, supporter quality, attrition levels and long-term value across channels.
- Develop KPIs and reporting frameworks to provide senior leadership with clear visibility of performance, risks and opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including fundraising, digital, data and technology, communications, brand, marketing and marketing operations, finance and UK country teams to deliver integrated acquisition strategies.
- Champion the role of Face-to-Face fundraising within the RSPB, working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to increase its prominence and ensure strategic alignment.
- Work closely with the Head of Membership Marketing & Retention to ensure seamless integration between acquisition, onboarding and stewardship journeys.
- Oversee procurement, contract management and ongoing performance of external delivery partners to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- Lead relationships with external partners, suppliers and agencies, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong return on investment and value for money.
Essential Criteria:
- Able to design and deliver a UK-wide face-to-face or high-volume acquisition programme that achieves agreed supporter and income targets.
- Able to lead and develop regionally dispersed, field-based teams, including setting objectives, monitoring performance and holding managers accountable for results.
- Able to analyse performance data (e.g. conversion, attrition, ROI and quality metrics) and use insight to optimise programme performance.
- Able to manage and monitor programme budgets, including forecasting expenditure and assessing return on investment.
- Able to communicate strategic plans, performance outcomes and risk clearly in written reports and verbal presentations to senior stakeholders.
- Able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to align acquisition activity with organisational strategy.
- Able to travel regularly across the UK to support field operations (by public transport or other means)
- Knowledge of Fundraising Regulator guidance, safeguarding requirements and quality assurance processes relevant to face-to-face fundraising.
- Experience of leading large-scale, multi-site face-to-face fundraising or high-volume acquisition activity in a charity or commercial environment.
- Experience of managing external agencies or suppliers and implementing operational processes that improve performance, compliance and supporter experience.

- This is a home-based role with regular travel across the UK to support teams, partners and operational activity.
- This is a Permanent role for 37.5 hours per week.

The organisation rescues high quality edible surplus food, from across the food industry and gets it to over 8,000 organisations across the UK who are working to strengthen communities and improve lives.
The charity manages seven depots across London, Suffolk, Merseyside and Hampshire and works with 16 network partners who operate a further 26 regional depots across the UK.
Over the next year our ambition is to rescue enough food nationally to provide nearly 200 million meals, turning an environmental problem into social good with measurable impact for people, planet, and the economy.

We have recently brought together two £20m organisations – FareShare UK, a national food redistribution charity, and The Felix Project, our London network partner who has made waves across the capital in recent years. We are in the early stages of shaping our future together, while at the same time, developing our fundraising strategy for the next three years – setting the direction for how we grow income, engage supporters and deliver even more impact across the UK.
Public fundraising and engagement will be central to that strategy, and as Head of Public Fundraising & Engagement, you will play a leading role in shaping it.
We already have strong foundations to build on. Recent testing of private site fundraising for both organisations has exceeded KPIs, showing strong public appetite to support our work. We also have the opportunity to learn from The Felix Project’s success in London and explore how proven approaches can be adapted and scaled nationally.
Alongside this, we have a clear ambition to become a destination directorate for fundraisers across the sector – a place where talented people want to build their careers, test new ideas and do their best work.

About the role
The Head of Public Fundraising & Engagement will lead our public fundraising portfolio. This newly created role will oversee Individual Giving and Legacies, Community Fundraising, Mass Participation and Challenge Events, and Fundraising Operations, with five direct reports.
You will be accountable for public fundraising income and performance, whilst also helping to bring together teams, systems and ways of working following the merger. You’ll sit on both the Fundraising Senior Management Team and the organisation’s Senior Management Team, contributing to organisation-wide strategy, decision-making and culture.
You will play a key role in shaping our three-year public fundraising strategy, ensuring it is ambitious, realistic and rooted in audience insight.
Whilst much of the portfolio is delivered through Senior Managers, there is particular scope and opportunity, to shape the future of Community and Mass Fundraising – where we’ve deliberately protected delivery while leaving space for the new Head to define long-term strategy, growth and resource.

The role
Operating within the Finance and Performance Directorate, as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will lead the Finance Business Partner and Senior Management Accounts team. You will develop the financial planning and analysis capabilities of the team that will better support financial decision making across the organisation and effective risk management. You will lead on The National Archives' financial planning through Spending Reviews and Fiscal Events; ensuring these are reflected and managed internally through budgets, efficiencies and multi-year business planning.

We are now seeking an experienced UK-based fundraiser to help grow individual giving, higher value support and legacy income, while working collaboratively with our colleagues in the US and Australia
This is a hands-on fundraising role focused on developing supporter relationships and growing income from individuals. You will play a key part in strengthening donor journeys, stewarding higher value supporters, promoting legacy giving, and supporting sensitive supporter communications.
You’ll be expected to work towards agreed income targets and contribute to the growth of sustainable UK fundraising, while helping align activity internationally.
This role suits someone who enjoys developing fundraising activity from the ground up, building supporter relationships, and working independently in a small charity environment — and who is genuinely motivated by bringing in income: someone practical, action-oriented, and comfortable turning plans into results.
Key Responsibilities
Individual Giving & Supporter Engagement
- Develop and deliver individual giving activity, supporting donor acquisition, retention and engagement
- Help design and improve supporter journeys and communications
- Draft compelling donor communications, appeals and fundraising materials
Higher Value Giving & Major Donors
- Support identification, cultivation and stewardship of higher value and major donors
- Build warm, authentic relationships with supporters
- Assist with donor meetings, follow-ups and personalised communications
Legacy Fundraising
- Support and grow ROLDA’s legacy programme
- Help develop legacy messaging and supporter materials
- Respond sensitively to legacy enquiries and supporter questions
Corporate & Community Fundraising
- Support the development of corporate and community fundraising activity in the UK, working collaboratively with other UK team members.
- Help identify and progress potential corporate partnerships, employee fundraising opportunities and community-led initiatives.
- Provide fundraising support and materials to UK volunteers and supporters running their own events or activities.
- Contribute ideas and practical support to grow these income streams over time
Income Generation & Targets
- · Work towards agreed income targets and fundraising objectives

Communications & Representation
- Act as a key point of contact for supporter communications
- Help guide responses to sensitive supporter or public enquiries

Essential:
- Strong experience in individual giving, including supporter engagement and retention
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for donor communications

Contract Details
This role is offered on a freelance / consultancy basis (not PAYE employment). Initially 3 days per week, with potential to increase to full-time as fundraising grows.

We are now seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team and work closely with operational leaders across supported living, residential, and community-based services. This is a highly visible role, focused on turning financial data into meaningful insight that improves outcomes, strengthens services, and delivers value for money, while remaining aligned with our mission and Charities SORP.
The key responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner include:
- Act as the primary finance contact for defined service localities, providing proactive, trusted business partnering support.
- Produce monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis and insightful commentary on income, staffing, agency usage, sleep-ins, travel, and overhead recovery.
- Support Team Managers with budgeting, reforecasting, cost control, and financial planning aligned to safe staffing and support needs.
- Lead unit economics and service performance analysis, including rota efficiency, voids, empty rooms, and overall service sustainability.
- Work closely with the Development Accountant to ensure pricing models, service charges, and cost allocations accurately reflect the true cost of delivery.
- Build and maintain finance KPI dashboards in collaboration with Operations and the Senior Management Accountant.
- Support bids, retenders, and contract variations by providing robust costings, pricing models, and funding justifications.
- Analyse performance across block, spot, framework, and personal budget contracts, reconciling delivered versus commissioned activity.
- Support commissioner discussions around uplifts linked to inflation, National Living Wage, and changes in acuity.
- Work with the Financial Controller to ensure accurate and timely billing, with correct treatment of restricted, unrestricted, and deferred income.

About you
Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.
You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.
You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.
