Our office is a short walk from King’s Cross station in London. For this role, you’ll need to come into the office as required to deposit cheques. While there isn’t a set day for this, all cheques should be paid in within a week of receiving them. Additionally, the team comes into the office during busier periods, such as financial year-end and audit, to collaborate with auditors (June/July). You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time. We encourage all colleagues to visit member hospices to help inform our work and you may be able to work from there.
Contractually this role is London-based.
Contract: Maternity Cover until the end of December 2026. Full time role - 35 hours per week.

You will be joining at an important time for our team, covering a crucial role in ensuring accurate income processing, reporting, and financial management across the organisation. As part of the Finance team, you will work closely with colleagues across departments, particularly alongside our fundraising team, to ensure income is correctly coded and reported efficiently.
With responsibility for month-end and year-end processes, as well as maintaining accurate and timely financial data, you will play a vital role in supporting decision-making across the organisation. Your work will ensure colleagues have the financial insights they need, enabling strategic planning and effective resource management.
Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will liaise with teams across the organisation to provide clear financial updates, answer queries, and ensure income is accurately coded and reported in line with financial procedure. Your clear communication of financial information will support informed decision-making and ensure compliance with procedures.
To succeed in this role, you will have strong financial processing experience, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You should be comfortable working with financial systems and software, with the ability to efficiently manage data, generate reports, and ensure accurate income tracking.

About the Role
This is critical role within the organisation, supporting essential services for people and communities. It is a senior operational finance role with responsibility for day-to-day financial management, robust controls, accurate reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, our Executive Management Team and Operational Managers providing trusted financial insight that supports informed decision-making and service delivery.
You will also lead and develop our finance team, ensuring purchase ledger and sales ledger activities are accurate, efficient and well controlled.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical finance skills with a collaborative, people-centred approach.You will have strong technical finance skills and proven experience in a Finance Manager or Management Accountant role.
You will also have:
- A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or be willing to work towards one
- Strong financial reporting, analysis and control experience
- Experience preparing audit or statutory accounts
- Experience of implementing and embedding new financial systems
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
- The confidence to challenge, escalate risks and maintain high standards of governance
It would be an advantage if you also have
- Experience in health, social care or another regulated environment
- Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance & Administrative Officer to join a friendly and collaborative organisation on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a varied role that combines finance, payroll, and administrative support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple functions in a small, supportive team environment.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance and wider team to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day financial processes while also providing general administrative support when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce sales invoices and manage credit control processes
- Process purchase invoices and maintain the purchase ledger
- Raise purchase orders in line with internal requests
- Assist with month-end reconciliations and support the year-end audit process
- Process payment runs, reconcile bank and credit card transactions, and maintain accurate records
- Prepare and process the monthly payroll file and liaise with the external payroll provider, responding to payroll queries
- Maintain staff sickness and leave records, producing reports and statistics where required
- Process monthly pension uploads and payments
- Act as the first point of contact for finance-related queries
- Support the implementation of financial elements of projects or contracts where needed
- Provide administrative support to the wider team as required
- Undertake additional duties that support the efficient running of the organisation
About You
Essential
- Qualified to at least AAT Level 2
- Experience maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Good ICT skills, including Excel, Word, and accounting systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Positive, friendly, and team-focused approach

A leading UK charity is seeking a Supporter Care & Finance Officer for a 12-month maternity cover. You’ll play an important role in delivering excellent donor care and ensuring accurate financial processing, working across both supporter care and finance.
The role requires you to be in the office once a week as a minimum. This role is full time. Working 35 hours a week but they would consider candidates looking for less hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality supporter service and manage donor communications
- Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce
- Process donations, payments and grant transactions

- Raise invoices, chase debtors and support month-end tasks

We’re offering a brilliant opportunity for someone at the very beginning of their career to join our Finance Team. This is a hands-on, paid apprenticeship where you’ll rotate across the whole of our functions: statutory reporting, management accounts, suppliers and payments, invoicing and debtors and supporting the month and year end processes.
This role is designed for someone with little to no previous work experience, you must be at least 18 years of age, maybe you’ve just finished college, or taken part in a King’s Trust programme. You’ll get full training, learn how a national charity supports its people, and build real-world experience that could lead to a future career in, accounting, finance, administration or beyond.
This is a full-time post (5 days a week), you will be studying for one day a week towards the Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting qualification and will need GCSE English and Maths (Level 4 or A-C grade) or equivalent.
We’re looking for someone reliable, happy to learn our IT systems, a confident communicator and most importantly, has a good eye for detail. There will be an assessment day at our Birmingham Centre on Tuesday 7th April and final interviews within two weeks of the assessment day.
We will be looking for the candidate to start in September 2026. Initially this will be 18-month fixed term contract with a view to a permanent position and progression to Level 3 dependent on the needs of the Trust. Candidates who already hold an equivalent or higher qualification in Accounting are not eligible for this role.
