Interim Tax Lead - ERP Implementation | £700 per day Umbrella Co. | Remote | 18-Months +

For a large government organisation, we're recruiting an interim Tax Manager to lead delivery of day-to-day tax operations including VAT and tax compliance during a large-scale ERP implementation programme. The interim Tax Manager will focus on maintaining high-quality business-as-usual tax delivery, while working closely with the ERP programme teams to share knowledge, provide input on system-wide tax processes, and support readiness.

Main Duties:

• Lead delivery of the day-to-day Tax operations (e.g., VAT and Tax Compliance)
• Support the Compliance and Financial Accounting Team with BAU Tax delivery
• Support the ERP implementation team activity across the Tax Management lifecycle
• Ensure continuity and accuracy of all BAU Tax activities
• Collaborate with the ERP programme teams to share expertise, input into design decisions, and suggest improvements to the Tax Management lifecycle
• Support the local design phase of the Oracle Fusion Cloud system for day-to-day Tax Management processes
• Support system integration testing for all Tax Management processes end-to-end and support real-life users of the system (UAT)
• Support the Oracle Fusion cutover phase, completing Tax Data migration, and the final transition.

Person Specification:

• CTA, CCAB or ATT qualified
• Proven experience delivering high-quality BAU tax operations with strong functional tax expertise, particularly in VAT within Government
• Experience of Government VAT rules, including Contracted Out Services
• Knowledge of taxable benefits, IR35, and provision of tax guidance / advisory support
• Good understanding of ERP systems and ideally implementation principles (although it is not essential to have led ERP delivery)
• Ability to work closely with programme teams to provide insight and input into ERP design and implementation
• Ideally experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud

Strategic Leadership

• Lead in conjunction with the organisation’s senior staff the refinement and delivery of our global organisational strategy 2027-2030.

Governance & Board Relationship

• Work closely with the boards of UnitedGMH and AFUGMH to ensure effective governance and decision-making.

• Identify, recommend and support the recruitment of new members of both boards. 
• Advise the boards on significant strategic decisions, including potential partnerships and organisational change.

Organisational Leadership

• Lead, support and inspire a high-performing and global team of approximately 20 staff.
• Where needed, oversee and support the delivery of multiple projects and programmes aligned with strategic priorities, in conjunction with the project leads.

External Engagement & Influence

• Represent the organisation with external partners, funders, policymakers and the wider sector. 
• Build and manage relationships with key donors.

Finance & Organisational Planning

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is seeking an experienced and strategic policy and public affairs leader to head our devolved nations policy and public affairs function. This is a high-profile leadership role with a unique opportunity to influence policy, advocate for children and young people, and drive improvements in child health outcomes across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Policy and External Affairs and sitting on the Membership, Policy and External Affairs Divisional Management Team, you will lead the College’s policy and public affairs activity across the devolved nations. You will develop and deliver impactful advocacy strategies, build strong relationships with governments and policymakers, and ensure the College’s voice is heard on the issues that matter most to paediatricians, children and young people.

You will provide leadership to a team of Policy and Public Affairs Managers and work closely with College Officers, members, committees and colleagues across the organisation to maximise the College’s influence and impact.

• Leading the strategic planning and prioritisation of RCPCH policy and public affairs activities across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Job Purpose  

The Director of Finance and Operations plays an important role within the College, providing strategic leadership, oversight and development of a portfolio of corporate support functions. This includes finance, membership, HR, IT and facilities. 

This role has responsibility for a team of 8 members of staff and also forms a key part of our Senior Leadership Team, taking corporate responsibility for the overall direction and operational management of the College. 

Main responsibilities 

1. To lead the strategic and operational management of our finance function 

• Provide strategic leadership and quality assurance for the annual budgeting and forecasting process, delivered by the Financial Controller and finance team 

• Review and challenge monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial performance reports prepared by the Financial Controller, working closely with budget holders

• Present financial reports and analysis to the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees to underpin informed discussion and decision-making

• Oversee, develop and maintain effective finance systems to reflect best practice and to help ensure timely and accurate figures  

• Provide assurance to the Chief Executive and Trustees that appropriate systems and controls are in place to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements 

• Provide executive oversight of the annual audit and statutory reporting process led by the Financial Controller, including the production of the annual report, working closely with auditors and ensuring that any management control points are implemented promptly 

• Lead trustee engagement on investment strategy and monitor investment performance 

• Support the operation of the College’s trading subsidiary 

• Co-ordinate the College’s use of restricted funds, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead our fundraising strategy and team to secure significant, multi-year income from major donors, trusts and foundations and corporates. About us

Parallel is a small charitable initiative with big ambitions. Our mission is to increase the number and diversity of excellent young mathematicians. We are a Good Thinking project (registered Charity Number: 1147404).

Founded in 2023 by Simon Singh MBE and Dr Junaid Mubeen, our online Parallel Academy supports highly capable students to excel in maths, by providing them with structured programmes that develop their reasoning and problem-solving skills beyond the curriculum.  We currently support more than 10,000 students through the Academy, around 1000 of whom receive highly targeted support through weekly, small-group online tutorials.

We are at an exciting phase in our journey, with plans to expand tutoring to 5000 students over the next four years. Our students are motivated and ambitious. Our maths programme takes place outside of school hours, yet students have an average attendance above 95%. All of our work takes place online and is subject to safeguarding and data protection policies that are reviewed periodically to reflect up-to-date best practice.

Parallel has built a reputation for excellence, both in terms of the expectations we set for students, and the quality of service they receive from us. Our work is underpinned by an inclusive ethos; every student who applies for the Academy is guaranteed a place on one of our programmes.

The purpose of this role
 

We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations to join and help lead our committed and energetic team. This role is pivotal to achieving Parallel’s growth ambitions while maintaining the quality of service we are renowned for. As a senior leader, you will be a lynch pin of our core team and will make a real difference to the life prospects of thousands of young students. 

On a practical level, you will coordinate and drive our core programmes, with oversight and accountability for their smooth, day-to-day delivery. You will also line-manage two full-time administrators (this may increase as the team expands), overseeing and supporting their work across communications, data and operational delivery.

We have established several processes and tools for delivering our programme effectively and the ideal candidate will have a sharp eye for process improvement and opportunity. You will need to understand and consolidate our current best practices, but also identify ones that need to be adapted or enhanced as we look to scale up. 

This role is offered initially as a fixed-term contract for 12 months, though we have every intention to extend the position longer term should the appointment prove successful. 

A note on working hours
 

This is a fully-remote role. As part of your contracted hours you will be required to regularly do some work during evenings and weekends (approx 5-8 hours a week). You may occasionally need to step in at short notice, outside of standard working hours, to support and resolve urgent operational issues.

There will also be periods when there is a higher workload (e.g., during student admissions cycles), so you may be required to offer some flexibility in working longer  - and then shorter - hours week to week. Time off in-lieu is provided for additional hours worked. 

In general, you will have significant autonomy in how you structure your working week, provided you ensure that our core operational needs are covered within the whole team.

Key responsibilities

Working for Parallel is challenging and rewarding in equal parts. On a typical day you will be fielding queries from parents, managing the logistics of 200+ tutorials a week and ensuring tutors are fully supported. We are a dynamic team that readily adapts to new situations and relishes the challenge of working through problems together. 

As part of your key responsibilities you will:
 

• Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of our Tutorial and Webinar Programmes, ensuring that sessions proceed as planned, and that any issues - from tutor cover needs to student absence requests - are swiftly and effectively addressed.

• Coordinate key aspects of our start and end-of-term administration, including payments, parent and student communications, website setup, spreadsheets and logistics.

• Oversee the admin team’s responsiveness to our high-volume shared inboxes, responding to the most sensitive student and parent queries and acting as a point of escalation where needed.

• Manage a small but growing admin team, providing regular guidance, support, and feedback.

• Play a key role in overseeing our student admissions cycles, from planning to testing, setup, delivery and communication of decisions.

• Make everyday operational decisions independently, exercising good judgement in when to bring issues to senior management.

• Work effectively with data (e.g. student learning data) - as managed through our central directories - and use it to guide decision-making and to support the effective running of our programmes. 

• Review our policies on an ongoing basis, ensuring that we are complying with our safeguarding and data protection obligations at all times and that our policies are built for scale.

• Support with schools outreach initiatives.

• Develop and document key administrative procedures (an ever-evolving ‘Operations Handbook’) to ensure that we have reliability and stability across all programmes.

• Help to shape and build on our ethos of high expectations, which translates into concrete policies regarding attendance, homework, participation and criteria for both admitting and removing students from our Tutorial Programme.

In 2027 we will host our prestigious Global Congress. Held every four years, Congress convenes eminent leaders invested in global consumer rights and empowerment. This includes the heads of the leading consumer advocacy organisations, ministers and senior government representatives, leaders in civil society, executives at top businesses, prominent academics, and visionaries from philanthropic and international institutions. 

Congress is critical to the mission of Consumers International. It is crucial for our governance, as the basis for our General Assembly, where our Membership elects the governing Council of Consumers International. Around this procedural milestone, we structure a participatory, diverse and unique programme that is designed to build and advance the future of consumer rights advocacy worldwide. Our last Congress brought together over 600 participants, including more than 100 at C-suite level, and was a platform for releasing new insight and announcing major partnerships. It featured over 30 interactive sessions taking place over three days in person and online, with extremely high satisfaction and feedback ratings from participants.

To drive forward our planning and delivery for our next Congress in 2027, we are looking for an exceptional Lead, Flagship Events. This person will be the organisational lynchpin for Congress, working directly with our Leadership Team at Consumers International to produce and execute a clear event plan according to ambitious milestones and key performance indicators. 

The Lead will project manage and mobilise the wider Consumers International team to deliver the 2027 Congress, building a relationship with the host government and playing an essential part in producing a dynamic event that excites and inspires attendees. The Lead will bring strong leadership, coordination and project management skills to the role. They will have best-in-class relationship building and negotiation skills, experience dealing with senior stakeholders, and will have delivered major impactful events in the past.

Project Management  

• Develop and drive delivery of a comprehensive Congress project plan with clear milestones, dependencies and performance indicators

Remuneration

Salary
 

The salary for this role is £77,919 per annum and we operate a hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

In line with our EDI strategy and Total Reward policy, we calculate our salaries based on benchmarking data across the charity sector. To ensure fairness for existing staff and new joiners, we do not offer salaries above the advertised rate.
 

Note – this position is up to a 12 month fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Impact and Grant Communications function during a year of strategic transition, ensuring teams remain focused, supported and aligned around organisational priorities.
• Provide leadership and oversight across impact measurement, evaluation and grant communications activity, ensuring high-quality delivery across the department.
• Support the development of strong foundations for the first year of the charity’s new strategy, helping shape processes, priorities and ways of working alongside the senior leadership team.
• Oversee how the charity measures, evaluates and communicates impact, ensuring evidence and insight are used effectively to inform decision-making and storytelling.
• Lead and support teams responsible for communicating the impact of grant funding across fundraising, communications and external audiences.
• Build strong relationships with senior colleagues, researchers, hospital partners, Trustees and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted and collaborative partner.
• Support strategic communications activity linked to major organisational priorities, including high-value funding cases, reporting and thought leadership.
• Use insight, evidence and evaluation to help identify opportunities, strengthen strategic thinking and support continuous improvement across the organisation.
• Provide leadership, coaching and support to managers and specialist teams, creating an environment where people feel empowered, informed and able to do their best work.
• Represent the directorate at senior meetings, committees and external events as required.

• Leadership experience within a charity, healthcare, research, policy or related environment.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Funded Projects Officer to aid the success of our project delivery.

The Role:
•    Aid the successful delivery of projects through the development of realistic project budgets that inform internal decision-making and strengthen funding applications.
•    Monitor income and expenditure against approved budgets, highlight risks and implications, and help ensure the Trust remains in a healthy financial position.
•    Maximise grant income through organised grant claims, good funder relations and effective negotiations.
•    Report on restricted income within projects, feeding into budgets, forecasts and year end requirements.
•    Manage complicated funding packages, whilst avoiding double funding, and coordinate claims and reports for multi partner projects.
•    Ensure compliance with funder, Trust and statutory requirements, including VAT, procurement and funded-project guidance.
•    Produce financial and written reports for internal decision-making and for updating funders, project teams, management and senior leaders.
•    This is a hybrid position with a mix of home working, and from our head office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Head office attendance would be required no more than once a month on average.
•     This is a fixed term contract until March 2027.

The Candidate:
•    A confident communicator able to listen, interpret, challenge, influence and explain complex financial principles to non-experts.
•    Experienced in the development, production and monitoring of project budgets, including analysing implications, risks and assumptions.
•    Skilled in project management, delivery and grant management, ideally across multiple projects at any given time.
•    Able to develop and deliver high quality numerical and written reports, ensuring accuracy and spotting potential risks.
•    An understanding of funder rules, requirements and funding opportunities, maintaining good working relationships with funders.
•    Able to consider the impacts and implications of projects on Trust budgets, resources and funds, contributing to accurate reforecasting.
•    Experience working in a similar role or fundraising-related role in the charity sector would be advantageous.
