Major Donor Fundraising Manager
These are ambitious times for the Charity after recently launching a new strategy that sees growing impact across the world exponentially.
We have now have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and professional individual with outstanding relationship building and influencing skills to join the dedicated Fundraising Department.
Position: 1934 Major Gifts Manager
Location: This role is nominally based at our site based in Sidmouth, Devon – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and we offer hybrid working. We are keen to make the role work for you, and will consider fully remote/home working and flexible working patterns, where required.
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday-Friday
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
As Major Gifts Manager, you will provide expertise in Major Gifts, successfully developing the programme in line with agreed annual targets and our Fundraising Strategy. You will work closely with the Head of Major Gifts to evolve and continuously improve the major gift activity, bringing an integrated approach across the charity to deliver the most donor-centric activity, whilst continuously evaluating performance.
Your principal duties and responsibilities will include:
• Inputting into and delivering the Major Gifts Strategy and improving the Major Gift portfolio and performance.
• Delivering and reporting on agreed projects, fundraising targets and KPIs.
• Proactively identifying and delivering new fundraising donors and income growth opportunities within Major Gifts.
• Leading on selected donor cultivation and stewardship projects to support sustainable income growth in Major Gifts, including events and other opportunities;
• Personally securing, managing and stewarding a portfolio of active Mid-Value, Major Donors and Charitable Trusts, forging and maintaining strong and enduring relationships.
• Supporting and growing the Major Gifts cultivation programme and pipeline to grow funders’ understanding of the diversity of the charity’s work.
• Being agile to changing market conditions and trends and working with the Head of Major Gifts to relay this into cultivation and stewardship.
About You
With experience of managing, cultivating, and delivering major gifts, and of planning future major gifts pipeline, you will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding personal fundraising targets.
You will also have:
• A demonstrable record of building excellent stewardship and successful relationships with supporters at all levels including high net worth supporters, charitable trusts and other major donors.
• Well-developed knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and interpretation of programme performance.
• Demonstrable experience of project budget management/reporting.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to multi-task and work with several conflicting demands and timescales.

We are working in partnership with Richard House Children’s Hospice to secure their new Director of Income Generation.
An exciting opportunity has risen for a driven and experienced fundraiser. The postholder will be responsible for the leadership and development of the fundraising team, fostering a high-performing and motivated environment. Evaluating current fundraising initiatives to ensure an effective balance between long term activities and driving immediate income, analysing income streams to manage performance, growth and ROI and scoping opportunities to capitalise on existing income streams and develop actionable plans to diverse and grow fundraised income will be strong focus of this role. The Director will also take personal responsibility for major donors and cultivating and negotiating high value and/or high-profile fundraising partnerships.
This role is offered on an interim basis due to a desired quick start date, but with the option to become permanent.
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- Proven fundraising experience and a sound working knowledge of all main fundraising methods and streams.
- Track record of delivery at strategic and operational business level, and able to translate strategic vision into clear direction for the organisation and line reports.
- A track record of managing teams, both salaried and volunteers, to deliver fundraising targets, and with a proven ability to recruit, train and monitor performance.
- Experience of budget creation and management.

Purpose
The Marketing Assistant is a varied role, working primarily in our Supporter Relations team, but also supporting other areas of the Fundraising and Communications team.
The primary focus of this position is to provide an excellent customer experience for CBM supporters so that every interaction is carried out with excellence, integrity and efficiency. This will help to create and be part of a supporter experience that develops and maintains long-term relationships with dedicated individuals and churches across the UK. The Marketing Assistant will ensure supporters feel valued and engaged with CBMs work.
On a day-to-day basis the position holder will be engaging with supporters by phone, email and writing, in responding to a wide range of enquiries, and carrying out administrative activities associated with marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials.
The successful applicant requires strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as confidence to make outbound phone calls to build relationships, thank supporters, to share updates on our work, and ask for donations to build relationships, grow supporter engagement and maximise long-term income.
The position is part of a dedicated and enthusiastic Fundraising and Communications team, and part of this role is to provide additional administrative support to the wider team, specifically in areas such as 121 supporter communications to fundraisers doing events, churches, and legacy and in memoriam supporters.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inbound enquiries (40%)
Respond to the needs of CBM supporters and the public through the handling of inbound calls and emails in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
This includes:
a. Taking and processing donations over the telephone.
b. Handling requests, feedback and complaints in a respectful and timely manner, and offering solutions when appropriate.
c. Updating supporter records on the Customer Relationship Management system (currently Salesforce) and carrying out mail or email follow-up when required.
d. Responding to emails in the giving inbox, directing queries appropriately and maintaining organised records of communication.
e. Co-ordinating and responding to comments made on CBM’s social media platforms.
2. Outbound 121 communications (30%):
Carry out outbound calls to potential and existing supporters to inspire donations and explain over the telephone how support will transform lives, following set briefs and guidelines, but when applicable engaging supporters in conversation in a non-scripted approach. This includes:
a. Regular outbound calls and emails include thanking and stewardship communications, asking for support by Direct Debit, clarifying Gift Aid statuses, and discussing the possibility of supporting the charity in a Will.
b. Update the outcome of calls on supporter records on the CRM system.
c. Process donations made over the phone, carrying out mail or email follow-up when required, using existing materials and letter templates.
d. Refer follow up actions that are outside of the team’s remit to the relevant team or individual.
e. Contribute to the creation and development of guidelines for in- and out-bound telephone conversations.
3. Additional administrative duties (30%):
Perform a variety of other administrative tasks to support the wider fundraising team:
a. Data inputting, preparation and reports.
b. Updating and proofing fundraising materials.
c. Supporting speaker and church coordination when required.
d. Co-ordinating the stock and the distribution of supporter materials and fundraiser resources.
e. Mailing out church packs, thank you letters, and personalised communications, such as handwritten cards.
f. Liaise with colleagues and attend meetings to ensure up-to-date knowledge of CBM’s work.
g. Help develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, which reflects the ambitions of CBM.

About the role
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role as a key advisor to the CEO, SMT and Board of Trustees, providing professional insights into financial matters to support effective planning and decision making. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Monthly/Quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.

Manage accruals and prepayments.

Reconcile intercompany accounts.

Manage Withholding Tax certificates

Maintain Fixed Asset Register.

Produce timely, detailed, and accurate quarterly financial reports and cashflow forecasts with variance management, to enable management decision making and for submission to funders.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to produce an Annual Budget.

Manage the organisation’s investment platform to maximise investment income and oversee cashflow management.

Assist with the financial aspects of funding applications and monitoring reports.

Manage audit compliance and the year-end audit process, providing the necessary information to external auditors.

Complete statutory returns to Charities Commission and Companies House

Manage Trustee governance at Charities Commission and Companies House

Manage Gift Aid processing and HMRC returns.

Manage all annual insurances and stakeholder pension scheme.

Line-manage a part-time bookkeeper who oversees the purchase and sales ledger functions, bank payments and reconciliations, processing credit card and expense transactions, donation platform reconciliations and pension auto enrolment compliance.

Provide ad hoc financial information to the CEO, SMT and Board as required.

Be an active lead in the financial management of the company providing reports to the SMT, Board and funders

Lead on providing insight into the financial aspects of the organisation’s activities.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Philanthropy Manager to join the team. This is a great opportunity to shape and lead the charity’s first ever mid-value fundraising programme. As the Philanthropy Manager, you will create meaningful donor relationships, craft compelling fundraising journeys and directly contribute to ensuring that justice is accessible to all.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, candidates will possess detailed knowledge of successful membership fundraising schemes and/or donor development, including design and implementation of fundraising systems and targets. Candidates will have knowledge and understanding of ethical practises, the Code of Fundraising Practice, including GDPR and the regulation and environment in which charities operate. Candidates will possess skills required to identify, research and qualify potential donors, including donor behaviour, needs and motivations for giving. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to consistently craft compelling propositions and communications is essential for the role. You will have good knowledge of how to audit and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising and communications.

As we focus on improving our audience focus and scaling our evergreen acquisition, we need an agile, learning focused leader to head up this successful team. As Head of Supporter Engagement, you will lead the development and execution of our fundraising strategy across key disciplines, including Individual Giving (Retention and Acquisition), Legacies, Community Fundraising, and International Giving.

· Ensure a diverse and impactful portfolio of fundraising products, fostering innovation and optimisation.
· Oversee the rollout and optimisation of our Gifts in Wills strategy, embedding legacy giving as a fundamental part of our fundraising culture.
· Work collaboratively with the Digital Team to maximise digital channels for supporter engagement and acquisition, and scaling evergreen digital ad campaigns to boost income.
· Lead major disaster public fundraising appeals.
· Strengthen engagement and growth across our global affiliate network, and help shape the future of international giving.
· Work with the Community & Events Team to enhance our relationship-driven approach, building inspiring supporter journeys and compelling propositions, and maximising our work across Rotary Clubs and Districts.
· Partner with the Head of Fundraising Operations to identify system improvements that enhance our audience understanding to drive income growth and supporter experience.
· Use data and insights to drive strategic decision-making and performance optimisation.
· Work closely with the Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships to identify opportunities to collaborate and to feed a pipeline of high-level support.
· Lead and inspire a talented team, setting clear objectives and fostering a culture of excellence.
· Manage financial processes, budgeting, and reporting with precision and accountability.
· Represent ShelterBox as required and always work in line with our aims and values.
· Adapt to major disaster situations, occasionally working evenings and weekends at short notice.
