This is an exciting opportunity to join Refuge as a domestic abuse refuge worker, providing high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our refuge accommodation across Cambridgeshire.
The post holder will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis and admission to the refuge, through to move on from the emergency accommodation. This involves providing a personalised, holistic support and safety plan, enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice.
You will also work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.
A key requirement is to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.
Due to rural location, candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for commuting.
This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). Main responsibilities:
- To support delivery of The FA Schools’ Football Strategy and the English Schools’ FA’s Business Plan
- To manage the ESFA’s safeguarding work, in line with legislation, FA safeguarding policy, procedures, regulations, standards and guidance.
- To manage safeguarding and child and adults at risk protection concerns in a timely manner and in line with FA requirements and guidance.
- To take operational responsibility for the implementation of The FA’s Safeguarding 365 Standard for County FAs and driving safer practice and culture in schools’ football.
Job role
- To oversee, track and ensuring ongoing compliance with all areas of The FA’s Safeguarding 365 Standard for County FAs measures, policies and procedures and collate and submit all evidence for assessment.
- To operationally lead the implementation and delivery of safeguarding within the ESFA, being accountable for relevant areas of The FA’s Safeguarding 365 Standard.
- To support the Senior Leadership Team and take a dynamic and strategic approach to safeguarding delivery within the ESFA, raising awareness and providing organisational support and direction to colleagues and Members
- To work with the Chief Executive Officer to provide the Board with regular reports on safeguarding activity within the ESFA.
- To work with The FA Safeguarding Case Management Team (FA SCMT) to refer child abuse and adults at risk concerns to The FA, acting in line with the relevant FA safeguarding policy, regulations and guidance.
- To record all safeguarding concerns on the prevailing FA safeguarding system and ensure all data is securely retained in accordance with FA regulations, policies and data protection legislation.
- To manage all safeguarding poor practice concerns and complaints referred to the ESFA, with a focus on timeliness and outcomes and line with FA policy, regulations and guidance.
- To provide training, support and guidance to the ESFA and its Members on how to manage safeguarding complaints and concerns effectively, with a focus on timeliness and outcomes and in line with FA policy, regulations and guidance.
- To use IT systems to monitor safeguarding compliance across the schools’ football volunteer network to manage risk and assist in strategic planning.
- To utilise insight and data to inform all compliance activity and take appropriate activity to address non-compliance.
- To ensure the ESFA is compliant with safeguarding legislation e.g. Data Protection/GDPR 2018, Children’s Act, Protection of Freedoms Act (Criminal Record Checks), the Government’s prevailing ‘Working Together’ guidance. Prevailing ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance and any other legislation or statutory guidance that may be introduced.
- To identify, develop and maintain strong relationships with key safeguarding stakeholders.
- To strategically manage effective Association Safeguarding Officer networks; liaising with the Local Authority Designated Officers, Local Safeguarding Partnerships, Local Safeguarding Adult Boards, Children’s and Adults’ Social Care Services, Police Child Protection Teams and support Association Welfare Officers to be compliant with safeguarding legislation, FA safeguarding policy, best-practice guidance and education programmes.
- To manage a diverse workload being able to prioritise work according to risk and timeframes, providing regular updates to the line manager on progress against the work programme, targets and business plan priorities.
- To maintain strong links with key FA staff and attend national FA safeguarding events and CPD courses to ensure knowledge and skills are maintained and updated.
- To work with colleagues to address poor behaviour and raise standards in schools’ football, promoting fun and safe football environments and creating a culture that lives and celebrates safer working practice across the ESFA’s activity and schools’ football.
- To co-ordinate safeguarding support visits, parental engagements and Association health checks with Members to ensure they are compliant with the records they have submitted to the ESFA and to check on the culture and safeguarding practice.
- To co-ordinate and deliver or source CPD events for Association Safeguarding Officers.
- To ensure that any individual helping with any ESFA or ESFA Member event involving children is suitably DBS-checked, trained and understand their responsibilities at the event.
- To work with colleagues to embed safeguarding and equality throughout the ESFA and the schools’ football network.
- To provide the highest level of customer excellence to support volunteers across all FA Technology systems.
- To line manage National Safeguarding Manager
- Execute tasks as required in order to meet the ESFA’s changing priorities.
- To support the Safeguarding Operations Group to deliver its responsibilities.
- To take responsibility for operational health and safety checks at ESFA headquarters
- To fulfil the financial responsibilities of the role as prescribed in the Financial Regulations.

- To support the ESFA Council to fulfil its responsibilities.

About the role
In this role you'll be a vital member of a highly talented, customer focused and enthusiastic helpdesk team who act as the first point-of-contact for end users.
A service desk expert you'll take pride in resolving almost all issues as they arise. Quick to learn, enthusiastic and self-motivated, you’ll ensure that our central knowledge base is always updated so other team members can learn from your successes and overall performance is maintained and improved.
With a high percentage of customers supporting our work in Retail, you’ll participate in a weekend cover rota, allowing service to our shops and stores to be delivered. Working hours needed to deliver these services are 35 hours/week – staggered in accordance with the support rota.
Working arrangements
This is a fixed term contract covering an internal secondment.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, approximately three days a week. Working hours needed to deliver these services are 35 hours per week covering a rota schedule (the team cover 8am to 6pm every day).
The role will also participate in a weekend cover rota allowing service to our shops and stores to be delivered. This will be in the region of 1 weekend in 4-6.
About you
With previous service desk experience, having working in the SD environment previously, you'll have excellent customer service and communication skills, being used to working in a busy service desk team. You'll also have excellent telephone and customer handling skills to back up your technical and fault diagnosis experience.
You’ll have strong troubleshooting skills, keeping the Customer informed of progress against their respective issues, ensuring an effective follow-up to ensure all service has been delivered and completed to the Customer's satisfaction.
With good knowledge of Windows OS (Win 10 and above), you’ll also have knowledge of LAN/WAN networking essentials and extensive experience of MS Office suite of Applications (2010 and above). You’ll have previous experience with administration of Users within Active Directory and Remote Support Tools (i.e. VNC, RDP etc.).
You'll have good knowledge of ticket and case management techniques, able to manage your own queues and workload to meet demand. You’ll be able to remain calm and focused, and will have strong organisational skills, able to use prioritisation and escalation techniques, and able to develop strong working relationships with the team and contacts across the organisation.

About the role

About the role
This is a new role at SIG, thus a great opportunity to join our team in supporting with and managing the delivery and implementation of our National Volunteering Strategy. This role plays a pivotal role in shaping and producing a strategy which empowers leaders across the organisation to actively recruit, engage and retain volunteers within their services. You will develop and implement a volunteering strategy which is fit for use, realistic and transferrable throughout the organisation, with a structured programme which ensures a positive volunteer experience.
- Lead the co-creation of the organisation’s National Volunteering Strategy in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Define clear goals, priorities, and success measures for volunteering across the organisation.
- Develop a clear roadmap for implementation of a volunteer strategy, ensuring alignment with the Group’s wider mission and values.
- Work collaboratively with various teams from operations, people and culture, marketing, finance, and other central teams to support the strategy.
- Design and implement a consistent volunteer recruitment, onboarding and induction process, and manage the sharing of information across the organisation.
- Create and manage volunteer hiring workflows, and ensure these are fit for purpose, and that they align with wider strategies, and system implementation.
- Consult and engage with managers on a regular basis to fully understand and identify volunteering needs across services and co-design a diverse range of volunteer roles that add value and reflect local priorities.
About you
We are looking for a proactive individual with a passion for advocating volunteering opportunities and early careers. You will be dedicated to bring new opportunities and drive meaningful change. You will have experience in volunteer management, with the understanding of what it entails, what our obligations are, and the difference between employment and volunteers. You will be driven to have the opportunity to create a process which is new to the organisation, and be self driven to learn as you go, as well as share your personal experience and expertise with others.
- Proven experience in developing or managing volunteer programmes, including recruitment, engagement and retention strategies
- Ability to design and implement strategies, with a clear understanding of how to align volunteering initiatives with organisational needs
- In depth understanding of volunteering programmes and the knowledge, skills and ability to create role profiles for volunteers
- Ability to build local networks and relationships locally and nationally, and utilise platforms available, including new ones to share opportunities available
- Ability to think creatively to improve processes
- Proactiveness and outgoing approach to work, ability to use initiative to resolve challenges
- Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and quality, with organisation skills

About the role
Are you a lawyer interested in expanding your knowledge on contract and commercial law while working for a good cause? Can you manage your own workload, working at a fast pace? Are you committed to, and energised by, making a positive and valued contribution to the charity sector? If so, this could be the role for you.
You will work closely with a wide range of teams across Macmillan, including our Cancer Support Services, Technology, Fundraising and Marketing teams, advising on a wide range of contracts and legal issues, with support from senior lawyers in the team.
Additionally, you will support our Information Governance, Procurement and other Compliance teams. You will focus on contracts for the supply of services, including general commercial services, technology, intellectual property and data processing contracts. You will also help to support on fundraising, grant-making and other charity related matters.
About you
The successful candidate will be an English & Welsh qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive, with post-qualification experience in contract/commercial work, including related data protection issues. You will be able to work autonomously and manage your own workload.
With the support of senior lawyers in the team, you will be comfortable offering practical, commercially sound advice, potentially outside your field of knowledge or expertise. Although a background working in-house or in charity law will be helpful, we are looking for a keen commitment to the sector and a strong desire to develop knowledge in these areas, as we can support with training on charity law and practice.
