Overview
This is an exclusiveopportunity with a publicly backed regeneration organisation deliveringlarge-scale housing, capital, and infrastructure programmes.

Sitting within acentral PMO function, this role is focused on supporting the operationaldelivery of programmes, working closely with senior leadership and a ProgrammeManager to ensure projects are effectively coordinated, governed, and deliveredfrom inception through to completion.

What you will do?
Programme coordination & delivery support

• Support the end-to-end lifecycle of regeneration and capital programmes, from early planning through to delivery.
• Work closely with a Programme Manager to ensure effective coordination across projects and workstreams.
• Help maintain oversight of programme timelines, milestones, and key deliverables.

PMO operations & governance

• Support the day-to-day running of PMO processes, ensuring consistency and strong governance.
• Assist with programme reporting, tracking risks, issues, and overall performance.
• Contribute to maintaining programme controls, documentation, and audit trails.

Contracts, procurement & controls

• Support the management of contracts across the programme, including maintaining and improving contract registers.

Stakeholder coordination & administration

• Organise and coordinate meetings with senior managers and stakeholders.

About you
We are looking for apractical and proactive PMO or project professional who is comfortable workingacross both the operational and administrative aspects of programme delivery.

• Experience in a PMO, programme, or project support role, ideally within a public sector or regeneration environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the production of management accounts and financial reports through system-generated data
• Develop and maintain system reports, reconciliations, and performance analysis

Role Purpose

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership across all frontline services, accommodation provision, organisational infrastructure, and compliance functions within the charity.

The COO is responsible for ensuring safe, trauma-informed, financially sustainable, and outcomes-focused delivery for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, health exclusion, addiction, and crisis.

The role leads operations across the charity’s accommodation portfolio, including winter shelter provision, general needs accommodation, supported accommodation, and intensively supported housing. The COO also oversees the operational platform of the charity’s support programmes, including a community café, community supermarket, crisis drop-in provision, and integrated health clinics.

About the Investment team

The Investment team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact. 

The Investment team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles. 

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.   

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in school engagement, school attainment and employment sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors between them. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 7). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest. 

The Investment team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

Finding high potential charities and non-profit partners for our portfolio 

• Identifying potential charitable organisations for investment.
• Leading and delivering in-depth due diligence process within the scope of a grant round, to assess and build partnership foundations with potential partners – covering leadership and governance, and their impact, scale, and partnership potential.
• Modelling from first contact of origination, our approach to engaged and trust-based investment management support.
• Developing and presenting high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.

Managing partnerships with portfolio partners​

• ​Managing relationships with partner Chairs and CEOs.

We are seeking a Director of Operations to join ERA at a pivotal moment of growth. This is a senior, strategic hire  who will shape how ERA is structured, scaled, and sustained over the long term. In 2026, we are scaling to run two summer fellowships: an ERA:AI fellowship and an AIxBiosecurity fellowship, alongside at least two major conferences and a pipeline of new domain-specific programmes. Working closely with the Executive Director and Programme Director, you will take ownership of ERA's operational effectiveness, compliance, financial strategy, and team development. You will be the person who translates ERA's ambitious programme vision into the systems, structures, and culture that make it possible and who ensures that as we grow from a small core team to an organisation of 15–20+ people, we do not lose what makes us effective. This includes managing the visa and compliance infrastructure that underpins ERA's international fellowship model.

This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role. Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy & Scaling

About the Role   

As our Financial Controller, you'll lead the day-to-day financial operations of the charity, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and efficient processes that support our mission. Our client operates a Superannuation Society which his both an occupational pension scheme and a Friendly Society run by our client.  The scheme has around 800 members including 164 active members and assets of around £115m. 

The post holder will provide administrative support to ensure that the scheme is run as effectively as possible.

The post holder will have responsibility for maintaining various governance materials including the business plan, risk register, trustee policies, conflicts register, trustee training logs and other documents. In addition, the post holder will play a key role in preparing the Scheme’s Own Risk Assessment and assist with the production of the scheme report and accounts.

This is not a routine reporting role. We are looking for someone who can quickly get under the skin of operational performance, understand the financial drivers behind service delivery, and help senior leaders make better, faster and more informed decisions.

You will work closely with the Head of Finance, Finance Business Partners, Divisional Directors and operational leaders, providing high-quality analysis, forecasting, commercial insight and constructive challenge. The work will span income, workforce costs, agency and overtime spend, utilisation, fee rates, contract performance, forecasting assumptions and recovery planning.

This is a senior individual contributor role, adding experienced capacity where it is most needed, to help maintain pace across key priorities, and strengthen the link between financial insight and operational action.

The assignment

You will be joining at a point where strong financial planning, clear analysis and senior business partnering are critical to supporting sustainable services.

Your work will include:
