Assistant Financial Accountant

RCN HQ London, 35 hours per week, 12-month Fixed Term Contract

Salary range per annum: £39,018 to £44,079* plus £5,424 London weighting

The role

As an Assistant Financial Accountant you'll use your positive attitude, your knowledge of financial accounting and reconciliation skills to deliver high quality support to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and RCN Foundation.

In this varied role every day will be filled with possibilities. You will get involved in anything from balance sheet reconciliations to accounting for investments, providing support to the RCN Foundation and assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts.

We'll look to you to prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations for the RCN, assist with maintaining the fixed asset register and assist with cashbook posting and reconciliation for membership and events income recorded through CRM. It's a great way to build on your skills and experience and develop your potential.

The person

As well as exceptional customer service, to join us you'll need an in-depth knowledge of accounting, a basic understanding of VAT, and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial managers.

You'll be studying towards a recognised CCAB qualification with experience of producing balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining fixed asset registers and investigating discrepancies.

Whatever your background, you'll be efficient, accurate and show a real customer focus in all you do.

The ability to encourage close collaboration between various teams within the finance department is key for this role.

About the Role

About the job role

We’re looking for motivated, enthusiastic and forward-thinking registered staff nurses to work within our two In-patient wards that have 12 beds each for patients. You’ll have experience of working in end-of-life care within an acute or palliative care setting. We will also consider newly qualified nurses who want to develop a career in palliative care. The successful candidates will be keen team players with good interpersonal and communication skills who enjoy working in a challenging environment whilst displaying a caring attitude at all times.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialist dementia assessment and support to carers, including home visits

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised nursing care and support for young people aged 13–24 with cancer. Every day, seven young people in the UK hear the words “you have cancer”, and Teenage Cancer Trust ensures they do not face it alone.

The charity funds specialist nurses and youth support teams in hospitals across the UK and provides vital emotional, practical and psychological support for young people and their families during and after treatment.

Regional fundraising is a core income stream for Teenage Cancer Trust, generating income through a combination of community and corporate fundraising. Supporters are often personally connected to the cause, including young people, families and communities directly impacted by cancer, making this a highly rewarding fundraising environment.

Teenage Cancer Trust is now seeking a Senior Relationship Manager (West Scotland) to grow and develop income across the West of Scotland. With an individual income target of c.£130k and a combined Scotland regional target of c.£260k across East and West Scotland, this role will play a key part in strengthening existing relationships while identifying and developing new fundraising opportunities across a region with significant growth potential.

Reporting to the Regional Fundraising Area Manager, you will be responsible for building long-term supporter relationships and developing strategic area plans to maximise fundraising opportunities. As a Veterans Community Occupational Therapist, you will:

• Provide community-based occupational therapy input to veterans, supporting their physical health, independence and day-to-day functioning.
• Work with veterans and, where appropriate, their families and support networks to assess needs and identify practical, person-centred solutions.
• Support veterans to navigate healthcare and support pathways, promoting independence and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside Community Nurses and other professionals.
• Contribute to education, outreach and engagement activity to support the Armed Forces Community.

About the Team

You will be joining the clinical team at Help for Heroes, providing community-based support to the Armed Forces Community across Wales. The team works collaboratively as a multidisciplinary group of Occupational Therapists and Community Nurses, finding resourceful ways to deliver care that is right, fair and tailored to each individual.
