Right now, millions of people across the UK are struggling to make ends meet. Whether it’s skipping meals, choosing between heating and rent, or facing unexpected expenses without a safety net — financial insecurity is a daily reality for far too many. At Turn2us, we’re here to change that. We support people in financial crisis to access the help they need and to build long-term financial security.
Every year, we reach millions through our practical tools like our Benefits Calculator and Grants Search, and we provide direct support through our Helpline and grant programmes. We work alongside people with lived experience of poverty to influence policy, shift public narratives, and tackle the root causes of financial insecurity.
Turn2us is serious about tackling financial insecurity both at scale and at its roots. We understand that the measurement and evaluation of all of our work is absolutely vital to achieving this and helping people thrive, and we are looking for an interim Head of Impact and Evaluation to join us on a 12-month maternity contract to support this work.
As Interim Head of Impact and Evaluation, you will be responsible for maintaining and evolving frameworks that help all colleagues understand and enhance our impact. This role will support Team Heads and Directors in decisions about prioritising work and assessing innovations that advance our vision of financial security for all. You will also work closely with the Policy Team and external partners on research that deepens our understanding of poverty and financial insecurity, while leading a dedicated team to scale and replicate effective solutions.
We’re looking for someone who sees impact not as a back-office function but as a transformative enabler of our mission. Naturally we want you to bring deep technical expertise, but also empathy, curiosity, and the leadership skills to bring others with you. This role isn’t just about ticking boxes and meeting funder paperwork requirement. It’s about supporting innovation, making crucial decisions about where we focus our efforts, and unlocking the insights that help us deliver a more just and secure society.
We know that Turn2us will benefit from leaders with new perspectives and ways of thinking, so we’re actively encouraging broad interest from impactful leaders who bring transferable skills from a wide range of backgrounds- whether commercial, from civil society, government or education. But an ability and curiosity to learn is key, as is the confidence to acknowledge the things that you don’t know.
This is a genuinely exciting and critical role: for our staff, our partners, and most importantly, the people for whom our organisation exists. We are always eager to receive approaches from people with lived experience of financial insecurity. If you can demonstrate a clear commitment to our values and ethos, and a deep personal commitment to our vision, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications should include a CV and covering letter. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please email Mark Crowley at Tall Roots.
Citizens UK
Location Hybrid · UK Hybrid · Home-based with some travel around the South East region and to London for team meetings.
Citizens UK is the UK’s biggest, most diverse and most effective people-powered alliance. We bring communities and local organisations together to work on issues that matter; from campaigning for zebra crossings on dangerous roads, to reforming the immigration system, to the Living Wage campaign. We have a track record of winning change through hundreds of local and national campaigns. We know everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. We believe that through developing local leaders, we can drive nationwide change and create community-led solutions to big and small problems.
Living Wage Foundation
The Living Wage movement began in 2001, after Citizens UK brought together communities in East London to discuss poverty and low pay. The campaign grew in momentum and soon required a mechanism to recognise employers who wanted to join the movement, which saw the establishment of the Living Wage Foundation in 2011.
Still part of Citizens UK today, the Living Wage Foundation continues to work with community organisations to make sure the voices of both workers and businesses are part of the Living Wage movement. We now work with over 16,000 employers, benefitting over 475,000 people and winning over £3bn of better wages for people who need it most.
Citizens UK works with a broad base of institutions across the political spectrum. As a team we work across a range of industries and sectors to achieve this mission. Better Society Capital (BSC) is the UK's leading social impact investor. Our 2026–2030 strategy is to positively impact 15–20 million lives by mobilising £20–30 billion of capital into investible solutions that tackle some of the UK's biggest social and environmental challenges — across housing, economic opportunity, climate & energy and health.
Investing BSC’s capital is an essential tool for delivering those goals, using our leading impact investment approach to identify social issues and business models that can tackle inequality and change millions of lives.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping markets for impact and to contribute to the success of one of the leading impact investors in the UK, while furthering your career in impact investment. Lending is one of the three core asset classes that BSC invests in, connecting £bns of capital with thousands of enterprises throughout the UK, while contributing to BSC’s sustainable portfolio returns. It is led by a dedicated team whose remit comprises five sub-asset classes: Bank Equity, Direct Lending, Blended Finance, Outcomes and Renewables. As Asset Class Lead for Lending, you will own how this capability achieves BSC’s mission: setting and delivering an investment strategy that serves BSC’s strategic priorities and portfolio returns; building the market of the future so that more capital flows to the opportunities with the greatest potential to tackle inequalities for millions of people in the UK; and leading a high-performing team that both executes a leading impact investment process with excellence and acts as an agent of change in the system. You'll report to one of BSC's Co-Chief Investment Officers and sit on BSC's Senior Management Team.
This is a role for someone who combines the discipline and judgement of an excellent investor with the desire and drive to change systems so that more capital is deployed for impact. •A strong track record and understanding of credit investment, ideally with some exposure to one or more of: lending to social purpose organisations including social enterprise and charity lending, blended finance, impact private credit, renewable energy lending or social outcomes partnerships.
•Experience leading and developing a team of investors, with accountability for portfolio performance and originating new opportunities in an area of investment.
•A demonstrated ability to build relationships that shift outcomes in the system — with government, institutional & mission driven investors and social sectors — even if you haven't held all of these at once before.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
•Experience operating across the public, private and social sectors, and translating complex or technical points for different audiences.
•Experience navigating investment governance and committee processes at a senior level.
•A track record of structuring deals or partnerships that have shifted market conditions beyond the transaction itself – by unlocking follow on capital, building infrastructure or proving a model that changed what others were willing to fund.
•Direct experience in social impact investment is an advantage but we are also open to strong candidates bringing relevant experience from an adjacent background, for example, development or sustainable finance, public finance and institutional investors with a strong interest in impact.
Skills, Abilities and Attributes
Strong alignment to BSC’s Values & Behaviours
•A genuine connection to BSC's mission — tackling inequality and unlocking capital for lasting social and environmental impact in the UK.
•Motivated by systems change – and strong strategic thinker who thinks in systems, not only transactions: you consider the wider system and its key actors, understand the barriers to change, and find the inflexion points where investment can shift the whole market.
•Comfortable holding both ends of the job: rigorous, technical investment judgement and the outward-facing skill to build partnerships and shift market thinking. Resilient and realistic about the pace of change in impact-led capital — bold in ambition, grounded in delivery.
•Energised by ambiguity and by building things that don't yet exist, rather than executing an established playbook.
•Driven by curiosity, a learning mindset and strong commitment to growth and development.
•A genuine team player: you actively seek out challenge, share credit and seek to build collaborative partnerships that bring the best skills and experience to deliver on mission.
Our mission is to grow the amount of money invested in tackling social issues and inequalities in the UK.

You'll manage your own portfolio of supporters, developing relationships from initial conversations through to longer-term engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
About you
Above all, you'll be someone who really enjoys talking to people.
You'll be a natural relationship builder with excellent listening and questioning skills and the confidence to guide a conversation towards an outcome. You'll be comfortable making outbound calls and working towards targets, while ensuring every conversation remains personal, respectful and supporter-focused.

This is a new role at ECU, being recruited as part of a wider programme of work to deepen the relationships between national organisations working on economic systems change and grassroots campaigners. The Campaigns Lead will work closely with the Head of Campaigns on driving forward our high-impact campaigns for economic systems change.
For at least the first year, the Campaigns Lead will be working primarily on our coalition campaign on the cost of living crisis, Cost of Living Action. The campaign, which is currently made up of over 40 organisations from across civil society, unions and grassroots groups, aims to end the cost of living crisis and put in place solutions to prevent it from ever happening again. It focuses on our policy demands in five areas that drive the cost of living crisis: wages, social security, energy, housing and taxation. The campaign positions itself as the civil society coalition focused on the cost of living as a whole, and that solutions to it must be addressed that way. The campaign relaunched in early 2026 and has a vital role to play in putting media and political pressure on the government to take action.
We also work closely with those most impacted by the crisis and aim to centre the voices of those with lived experience of economic hardship in all that we do. This role will shape and drive forward a programme of impactful communications, advocacy and other campaigning activities under the rebooted campaign to secure transformative changes that bring real improvement to people’s lives. There is ample opportunity to engage politically in this role, increasing as you develop in the position.
