Shape the future of Fréa – a unique partnership of three Irish charities working together to create greater impact.
We’re looking for an ambitious, creative fundraiser to build on a strong foundation and develop Fréa’s next generation of income and partnerships.
Fréa brings together three established Irish charities with a shared commitment to supporting Irish communities across the North of England. We believe that, by working together, we can achieve more than any of us can alone.
We are now looking for an exceptional Head of Fundraising and Development to help us realise that ambition.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and turning ideas into sustainable income. You will have the freedom to shape Fréa’s fundraising approach, develop new partnerships and funding streams, and help establish the partnership as an increasingly influential and sustainable organisation.
You will build on a strong platform already created by Fréa’s existing fundraising work, while bringing fresh thinking and new energy to its next stage of development. You will work closely with senior colleagues and Boards across the three partner charities, developing compelling propositions and identifying opportunities where Fréa can achieve more by working collectively.
Importantly, this is collaborative fundraising, not competitive fundraising. Fréa’s role is to complement and add value to the excellent fundraising already undertaken by its three partners. You will need the judgement to recognise when an opportunity is best pursued by Fréa, by an individual partner, or jointly – always respecting existing relationships with funders, donors and corporate partners.
We are looking for someone who combines fundraising expertise with relationship-building, creativity and excellent partnership skills. You will be comfortable working strategically while also getting stuck into the practical business of developing networks and events, cultivating relationships and securing income.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the fundraising direction of an emerging partnership with an established history, a strong network and significant potential for growth.
If you are excited by the idea of building something collaboratively, creating new opportunities and helping three organisations achieve greater impact together, we would love to hear from you.
If you would like an informal chat about the role please contact any of the Fréa Trustees: Ant Hanlon Chief Executive at Leeds Irish Health and Homes, Breege McDaid, Director at Irish Community Care or Patrick Morrison, Chief Executive at Irish Community Care Manchester.
To promote the welfare and inclusion of Irish communities throughout Britain, in particular, those residing in the North of England.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
We are seeking to recruit a Parliamentary and Policy Assistant to support our legislative and policy programme. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in environmental policy while gaining first-hand experience of how Parliament and the legislative process work, and insight into the nuts and bolts of the operations of a small not-for-profit environmental organisation.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will monitor parliamentary activity; research environmental policy; help prepare briefings and updates; support engagement with parliamentarians and stakeholders; contribute to communications; and help deliver events. No two days will be the same and you will gain broad exposure to the work of a busy policy team.
Role profile
Skills/experience
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds who are interested in politics and parliamentary process. More important than any particular qualifications or experience is your ability to communicate effectively; express ideas clearly and precisely in writing; manage competing priorities with a can-do attitude; and work with accuracy and attention to detail. If you are intellectually curious, proactive, and eager to develop your skills and knowledge while contributing to meaningful policy change, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) with a particular focus on pulmonary hypertension (PH) - a serious condition that can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting, and light-headedness. PH can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised or well-understood.
We aim to improve clinical care, education, and PVD research. To do this, we bring together an international network of thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics, and industry partners supported by our small team based in Bermondsey, London. Together, we deliver conferences, e-learning, and an academic journal, raise awareness of PVD, and encourage collaboration in research.
About the role
We are seeking a Marketing & Events Officer to help the charity achieve its mission by growing its international profile, driving membership, increasing engagement and income through delivering great marketing, webinars and event communications.
PVRI's events are delivered collaboratively across the charity, and this role acts as the key coordination point for event communications, delegate engagement and webinar delivery. No two days are the same. One day, you might be writing content for our website, emails, newsletters, or social media channels, and the next, you might be welcoming respected speakers and attendees to one of our international scientific webinars.
A key part of the role is supporting marketing and comms for our face-to-face events and working with the team to provide on-site support. These include our annual global scientific congress (often held towards the end of January in a different city around the world) and our biennial symposia (which usually take place in June, usually in the USA or Europe).
Our staff team are not scientists or medical experts – but we are skilled at warmly facilitating and uniting the global scientific and medical expert community. We are seeking someone who has excellent communication and organisational skills, is comfortable with complex medical terminology, genuinely cares about our mission, and will bring energy, skills and commitment to this exciting role.
If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to hear from you!
What we can offer
We offer a 35-hour working week and flexible working, a positive learning culture, international travel, and opportunities for you to learn and grow in your role. And for those who prefer hybrid working, we’re based in a vibrant, sociable office space close to London Bridge and Borough Market.
PVRI celebrates diversity and is committed to equality and inclusion in our recruitment practices and ways of working. If you’re excited about our mission and can bring talent and enthusiasm to our cause, we’d love to hear from you.
How to apply
To apply for the role, please send us your CV and a supporting statement (max 850 words) outlining what you could bring to the role and referencing the person specification. Please send these, together with the Equalities Monitoring Form, to Katie Corris by 09:00 on Monday, 07 September.

The Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships will provide strategic, commercial and visionary leadership for London’s Air Ambulance Charity’s high-value income portfolio, shaping and delivering an ambitious, insight-led Philanthropy and Partnerships Strategy aligned to the charity’s 15-year strategy. With overall accountability for sustainable and transformational income growth, the role will maximise the financial and strategic value of philanthropy and partnerships, diversify income and identify new opportunities, markets and relationships that can accelerate the charity’s long-term ambitions.
A key focus will be to build a strong organisational culture of philanthropy, bringing together leaders, trustees, clinicians and colleagues to identify and maximise high-value fundraising and strategic partnership opportunities. The postholder will lead and develop a high-performing philanthropy and partnerships team, fostering a culture of ambition, accountability, commercial discipline, innovation and continuous improvement, while building trusted relationships that deliver lasting value for the charity and the communities it serves.
We’re looking for an ambitious, commercially astute and highly credible relationship leader who can help us take our philanthropy and partnerships programme to the next level.
You may come from a senior philanthropy, corporate partnerships or fundraising background, or from a commercial environment such as business development or strategic relationship management.
