Job Summary
This Volunteering Coordinator is a new position that will directly support the management of our volunteers, the projects they work within and how they engage with people experiencing homelessness. Volunteers are integral to our projects year-round and contribute to our strategic goals around community power and solidarity. Our projects range from Christmas events, engagement projects, prevention initiatives and supporting fundraising campaigns.
This Volunteering Coordinator will be instrumental in the recruitment, onboarding, welfare and on-going support of our volunteers, some of whom also use our services. They will be passionate about people and enjoy working closely within our project teams to ensure volunteers have the best possible experience.
Key responsibilities
As the Volunteering Coordinator is a new role for Caring in Bristol, certain elements will evolve as the position embeds into the team. However, the key focusses will be to:
Recruitment of volunteers

Promote volunteering opportunities across the city

Target potential volunteers who support our mission and values, have appropriate skillsets, and represent groups who are representative of the clients we support and align with our strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion goals

Through a variety of promotional tools create and distribute volunteer recruitment assets for Caring in Bristol marketing channels to spread CiB volunteering opportunities

Attend volunteering recruitment events and engage with prospective volunteers

Work with Income Generation colleagues to build a base of engaged and informed volunteers to support fundraising events and activities in the community

Develop and deliver the volunteer application process

Conduct reference and DBS checks for new volunteers where required
Volunteer Retention

Update and develop our volunteer induction programme with project staff embedding the values of the charity as well as an understanding of homelessness in our city

Provide pastoral guidance to volunteers, to ensure they feel heard and supported

Get to know our regular volunteers and work alongside them to understand the best way to motivate and engage them in their roles

Attend the projects on a regular basis

Work with CiB Safeguarding Leads to uphold the safety and safeguarding of volunteers and our service users in the development and management of volunteering in the organisation

Escalate volunteer complaints or disciplinary issues to project managers and senior management as appropriate

Manage communication with our volunteer groups, including curating a regular newsletter to keep volunteers informed about our work

Working alongside our Corporate and Community Coordinator, manage opportunities for groups of corporate volunteers within the organisation

Update volunteer-facing documentation and policies including the Code of Conduct, ensuring they are implemented consistently across Caring in Bristol volunteering

Become the organisation's administrator/key user for the volunteer management database.

About the role:
Sport and physical activity can be a powerful way to improve wellbeing, build confidence and help people feel more connected to themselves and their communities. As a Sports Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in making those opportunities happen for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage across Single Homeless Project (SHP).
This is a hands on and outward facing role where you’ll bring energy, creativity and momentum to our sports programme. You’ll deliver engaging sport and exercise sessions, help expand activity across our services and work with the Sport Lead to coordinate freelancers, volunteers and peers who bring additional skills and opportunities into the programme. You’ll build strong relationships with clients and teams, spot where new activities could make a difference and help turn ideas into opportunities people genuinely want to take part in.
You’ll also help take the programme beyond SHP, building relationships with sports providers, community organisations and charities across London to open up new opportunities for clients. You’ll champion the role physical activity can play within homelessness services, encourage more people to get involved and help services build the confidence, networks and resources to make sport and exercise a lasting part of the support they offer.
At SHP, you’ll be supported to keep developing too. You’ll have access to learning and development opportunities, the chance to strengthen your skills across programme development, partnership working and inclusive practice, and opportunities to build experience that can support your longer-term career progression across SHP and the wider homelessness and support sector.
About you:
- You have experience delivering engaging sport, exercise or physical activity sessions, alongside relevant sports or coaching qualifications.
- You know how to motivate and encourage people who may face barriers to taking part in physical activity, creating sessions that feel inclusive, positive and achievable.
- You’re confident building relationships and can bring clients, colleagues, volunteers, freelancers and external partners with you.
- You’re proactive and resourceful, with the confidence to spot new opportunities, build partnerships and help grow the reach and impact of a sports programme.

*The peak activity periods for this role happen during school half-terms, which means extra hours will be required during these times. Purpose of the Role
The Youth Activities and Enrichment Coordinator will play a key role in planning, coordinating, delivering and monitoring educational, recreational and enrichment activities as part of our award-winning Bright Futures Children’s and Young People’s Programme. Working closely with the Head of Services/Family Support and Supplementary School Manager, Primary Teacher, external partners and volunteers, the post holder will ensure the provision of engaging, inclusive and memorable opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Research, plan and coordinate holiday activities, trips and workshops that promote learning, wellbeing, community engagement and social inclusion.

South East London Mind is looking for a Group Activities Facilitator, in our new Southwark Wellbeing Hub (SWH), to lead an exciting new programme of groups and activities across Southwark. The Group Activities Facilitator will create opportunities for people with mental health needs to connect with others who understand their experiences, gain practical tools and information, and build resilience. The Group Activities Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating community-based activities that support adults with mental health needs to increase independence, wellbeing and social inclusion.
This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for supervising and developing Group Facilitators, volunteers and students. Students’ Union UCL is an organisation that exists to make more happen. We are the representative body for University College London’s (UCL) students, one of the most diverse student communities in the world. We are a registered charity employing over 150 career staff and 300 student staff, delivering a wide range of services and representative functions for UCL students. We have the widest portfolio of services of any student organisation in the country, managing UCL’s extracurricular programmes for sport, music, drama, dance, media, volunteering, academic societies and intercultural engagement; providing a wide range of fantastic social spaces; leading on student democracy and representation across UCL; and offering excellent student support services.
It's an exciting time to join our growing organisation as we lead the delivery of UCL’s ground-breaking Student Life Strategy. This is enabling us to build more programmes to improve students’ mental and physical wellbeing, promote genuine equity for all, build students’ skills and confidence, develop their international connections and intercultural skills, and make a real contribution to our local community.
The role is a permanent contract. This role is based at our Bloomsbury campus with flexibility to work from home on a 40/60 basis (40% working from the office). We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible, and job share basis wherever possible.
Do you have experience in organising and managing a variety of events; or enabling volunteers to deliver events? Do you have Knowledge and understanding of student activities programmes including clubs, societies and volunteering?
