Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our Big Change Programme (BCP), ensuring complex projects are delivered successfully, organisational change is embedded, and our investment in digital transformation delivers lasting benefits across Centrepoint.
About us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills to help them move into education, training and employment. Our ambition is to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people every year.
The Big Change Programme is transforming the way Centrepoint works. Through new systems, improved processes and modern digital ways of working, we're building a more efficient organisation that allows our colleagues to spend more time focusing on what matters most - supporting young people.
Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week in the office. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g. two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts, this will be adjusted accordingly.
About you
You'll be an experienced programme leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale organisational transformation and complex change programmes. You'll thrive in fast-paced environments, be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and know how to bring people together around a shared vision.
You'll have:

- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, external partners and suppliers.
- Experience implementing organisational change that improves systems, processes and ways of working.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging updates for a range of audiences.

What you'll be doing
As Senior Programme Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership for Centrepoint's Big Change Programme, ensuring projects remain aligned to organisational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes.
You'll:
- Lead the planning, delivery and governance of a complex portfolio of transformation projects.
- Manage the programme budget, timeline, risks and resource planning. Ensure there is an appropriate structure for overseeing individual project management of budget and delivery to time.
- Develop and maintain programme reporting for senior leadership, trustees and governance boards.
- Drive high-quality programme management standards, ensuring appropriate controls, business cases and change management processes are in place.
- Work closely with project managers, suppliers and technology partners to deliver successful system implementations.
- Build strong relationships across Centrepoint, ensuring colleagues are engaged and supported throughout change.
- Help shape future digital and organisational transformation, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Champion collaboration, learning and best practice across project delivery.
- Ensure the BCP is connected to wider change initiatives across Centrepoint.
Why join Centrepoint?
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of one of the UK's leading charities. You'll join an ambitious organisation committed to improving the lives of young people while helping transform how we operate.

About the role:
Real change rarely happens in a straight line. At our Ashley Road project, you’ll work alongside people who have experienced homelessness, trauma and multiple disadvantage, offering the consistency, practical support and belief that can help them begin moving forward.
As a Project Worker, you’ll hold a caseload and build purposeful, trusting relationships with clients. You’ll complete assessments, develop person-centred support and safety plans, and help people identify goals that feel meaningful and achievable to them. This could include supporting someone to improve their health, address substance use, manage their accommodation, strengthen their daily living skills or reconnect with services and opportunities in their community.
You’ll be there when situations become challenging, responding calmly to risk, safeguarding concerns and periods of crisis while continuing to recognise each person’s strengths and potential. Working closely with colleagues and external partners, you’ll advocate for clients, coordinate joined-up support and help remove the barriers that have previously prevented them from accessing the help they need.
This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days will look the same. Alongside direct support, you’ll contribute to the safe and effective running of the accommodation, maintain clear and accurate records and help create an environment where clients are treated with dignity, respect and hope. You’ll also receive ongoing training, reflective practice and development opportunities to strengthen your skills and build your future career within SHP.
The working rota for this post is Monday - Friday, with no weekend shifts. The rota will consist of a mixture of earlies (8am - 3.30pm) & lates (3pm - 10.30pm).
About you:
- You know how to meet people where they are, building trust with people who may be facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, trauma or other complex needs.
- You bring patience, creativity and warmth to your work, especially when someone has been let down by services before or needs time to feel safe accepting support.
- You’re confident holding a caseload, but you never lose sight of the person behind the support plan — their strengths, choices, goals and hopes for the future.
- You understand that progress rarely happens through one service alone, and you’re ready to work closely with health, social care, housing and criminal justice partners to help people get the right support.
- You believe recovery looks different for everyone, and you’re motivated by helping people build confidence, independence and a more stable life at their own pace.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

Why Change Grow Live?
Change Grow Live are a health and social care charity. We support people in a huge range of difficult situations, including those who use drugs and alcohol, and those whose home life is affected by drugs, mental health and/or domestic violence. We're the largest charity of this type in the country, supporting tens of thousands of people in their own journeys. Hundreds of staff work across our organisation to support some of the most vulnerable people in society. Among the many services we offer are:
- Needle exchanges, both in-person and anonymous
- Screening for blood-borne viruses
- Drug testing for fentanyl, nitazene and other harmful additives
- Prescribing safer alternatives to opioids to reduce harm from street drugs
- Working with local pharmacies to check people have picked up life-saving medication
- Case workers who specialise in helping children and young people
Responsibilities
Our technology
We've got complex requirements: recording, monitoring and reviewing information about our clients, with their informed consent. Our in-house web application acts as an electronic patient record, a case management system, a quality management system, and more - it's grown over the last 15 years!
We started out with a Perl application, and have improved it aggressively over the years. All our software is deployed using Docker containers using ECS; much of it using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Pulumi. Our data is stored in a serverless/autoscaling MySQL database.
Newer work is often written in TypeScript, using NestJS and SvelteKit. We’ll use a variety of testing tools in both languages: end-to-end, integration and unit testing are all covered.
We practice a genuinely blame-free culture with incidents/mistakes and always focus our conversations on improving processes, not individual recrimination.
We're looking for compassionate, bold, open-minded software developers to help us build this software. Your efforts will empower frontline professionals carry out their life-saving work.
About you!
An ideal candidate will have some familiarity with SQL: our team write queries often!
We’d love to see candidates with some strong knowledge of HTML and CSS beyond the basics. We don't need you to know any frameworks in particular - but we'd love to see great fundamentals for building on the web, so you should have some experience building applications using JavaScript in the browser.
Debugging and testing experience is a must, in any language - we think that's a highly transferrable skill.
Previous experience with Perl is not a strict requirement. We're happy to show you the ropes - you'll be up to speed in no time!
You should really care about security. You’ll be happy to openly discuss approaches which make the software as safe as possible for people who use our services.
You’ll relish – or at least, enjoy the challenge of - diving into legacy code and documenting, improving and testing the code our users rely on. When you choose to rebuild things, it’s because you genuinely understand the previous solution and its shortcomings.
You'll be a curious, generalist thinker, never limiting yourself to one narrow specialty. As a team, we'll jump from CSS to AWS infrastructure in a day’s work. Of course, we don’t know everything: it's a perfect environment for learning; “I don’t know, let me check” is always a good answer.
What we will give to you:
- 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays) rising by 1 day for each years’ service “Capped at 30 days”.
- Paid ‘Wellness’ hour each week along with a ‘Wellness’ hub and Employee Assist Programme
- Contributory pension scheme
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Eye Test Vouchers
- A great selection of benefits incl. discounts for shopping, cycling, gym membership, cinema, holidays, etc.
- A friendly and supportive team
- Training, career development & progression opportunities
Please ensure that when completing your application form and supporting statement, you reflect on the details outlined in the job description. This will help us understand how your skills and experiences align with the requirements of the role.
If this sounds like you and you’d like to begin your journey with Change Grow Live, then we’d love to talk to you
