About the role
Do you have a passion for delivering impactful environmental projects and restoring rivers for people and nature?
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Restoring Rivers & Catchments team. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of large-scale environmental projects, typically valued between £300,000 and £1 million, working with key partners including water companies, the Environment Agency, local authorities and consultants.
From river restoration and habitat creation to fish passage improvements, floodplain reconnection and water quality schemes, you will play a vital role in ensuring projects are delivered successfully and achieve meaningful environmental outcomes.
Working closely with project leads and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide oversight of project performance, governance, budgets and stakeholder relationships, helping to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.
What you'll be doing
Managing a portfolio of environmental projects from initiation through to completion.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, funders, regulators and delivery partners.
Monitoring project budgets, programmes, risks and quality to ensure successful delivery.
Working collaboratively with project leads and colleagues to plan resources and resolve challenges.
Producing reports and updates for stakeholders, regulators and the Trust's Leadership Team.
Coordinating project meetings, tracking actions and ensuring robust project governance.
Collating evidence and documentation required by funders and regulators.
Supporting and mentoring colleagues with project management best practice where appropriate.
Helping to drive efficient, collaborative and effective project delivery across the team.
About you
You are an organised and confident project professional with a proven track record of managing complex projects and budgets. You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills and are comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
You are proactive, solutions-focused and able to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You enjoy working collaboratively, can influence and engage others effectively, and remain calm when managing competing demands.
Experience of environmental project delivery, working with water companies or delivering WINEP schemes would be advantageous, as would an understanding of river restoration, catchment management or environmental regulation.

Site locations
The SERT region, covers the south east of England, extending from Hampshire in the west to Kent in the east, with the northern border being south of the Thames, extending down to the English Channel.
Our office is based in Leatherhead which you will be required to attend up to 4 times a month.
The amount of travel required depends on the role, and can be extensive. Most travel for an individual will be to work on project sites, which can be remote, or attending external meetings within the SERT region. The geographical range and frequency of travel is role dependent.
To support travel costs, SERT pays mileage at the current HMRC amount for travel within the SERT region. We do not pay mileage, time or any other costs for travel outside the SERT region, nor for any commutes to the office. Toll charges cannot be claimed.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Global HR Operations -
· Maintain a high-quality global HR operations function, including standardized policies where legally appropriate, standardized processes, technology, systems, tools, forms, and guidelines that are accessible, well understood, and consistently utilized across all offices.
· Balance global organizational standards and compliance requirements with the operational, cultural, and legal realities of individual country offices, ensuring an appropriate and practical approach across diverse environments.
· Build trusted relationships with global office leadership, HR and Country Directors, to encourage transparency, collaboration, and timely sharing of HR-related information necessary for effective operations, risk management, and compliance.
· Partner with, support, and advise global HR team members and Country Directors on HR operational matters; while supporting local HR partners in assuming HR functions locally as appropriate for each office.
· Lead global HR due diligence (terms and conditions of employment, infrastructure and documentation) and manage the maintenance of international office employee handbooks and guides for EOR-hired staff.

· Conduct spot checks to employee files to ensure audit readiness and compliance; and provide training to HR team members responsible for maintaining documentation.
· Ensure compliance with the Vital global data retention policy for employee data and HR documentation.
· Identify and proactively mitigate HR operational and compliance risks through strong controls, monitoring, documentation practices, and partnership with local offices.
Employee Services -
· Coordinate the development and maintenance of HR programs and tools, including policies and procedures, SOPs, manuals, management guidelines, and other HR infrastructure to support business units, proposals, and projects.
· Ensure all offices and employees hired through EOR arrangements have access to an HR Help Desk or equivalent support structure with timely communication, responsiveness, and follow-up.
· In consultation with the VP HR and General Counsel, and in coordination with HRBPs, manage complex employee relations matters in a balanced, fair, and objective manner using appropriate counseling, investigative, intervention, and mediation techniques.
· Serve as an internal consultant and facilitator to managers and employees in resolving employment and performance-related issues in collaboration with HR business partners as appropriate.
· In collaboration with the Director of Talent Management and HR Country Teams, ensure timely delivery of training to managers on HR operations, policies, systems, and practices; and support clear communication of Vital HR business practices to employees globally.

Qualifications:
Education -
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
· Professional HR certification such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CIPD, or equivalent international HR certification preferred.

School Partnerships Officer

We're looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-focused School Partnerships Officer to join an award-winning youth and education charity tackling educational inequality. Every day you'll work alongside schools to help children furthest from opportunity thrive, while leading and developing a team of inspiring young Volunteer Mentors as they complete a life-changing year of service.

Position: Schools Partnerships Officer (internal title: School Programme Impact Officer)
School Location: HA1 2JG - 2 days school based
Training Location: N1 9JP - 1 day per week (with some working from home)
Salary: £30,469 per annum pro rata

About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting young people through education by acting as the vital link between partner schools and a team of inspirational volunteer mentors.
Working closely with schools, you will coordinate and oversee the successful delivery of the charity's in-school programme, ensuring volunteers have the guidance, support and resources they need to make a lasting difference to pupils' lives. Alongside programme coordination, you will help develop volunteers throughout their year of service, supporting their professional development while building strong relationships with schools and key stakeholders.
The role is predominantly school-based from Monday to Thursday, with most Fridays spent attending training and development sessions at the Birmingham office or online.
What you'll be doing
● Lead, coach and develop a team of Volunteer Mentors throughout their year of service.
● Build strong partnerships with school leaders and staff.
● Ensure high-quality delivery of City Year's school programme.
● Support volunteers' wellbeing, engagement and professional development.
● Monitor and evaluate programme impact using data and feedback.
● Act as the main relationship manager between City Year UK and your partner school.
● Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually improve the experience for schools, pupils and volunteers.
● Support the delivery of our Leadership Development Programme, helping Volunteer Mentors build the skills, confidence and experience they need for future careers.
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and enjoy building positive relationships with others.
You may come from an education, youth work, volunteering, project coordination or community engagement background, although we're open to a range of experiences as long as you have the right skills and passion.
You'll bring

● Confidence working with schools, young people and volunteers.
● Strong organisation and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
● A proactive, positive approach to solving problems.
● The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team.
● Good digital skills (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace).
● A genuine commitment to improving opportunities for children and young people.
Experience of working in, or alongside, schools would be beneficial but is not essential.
