Interviews

This is a two stage interview process.

For Stage 2, This stage is designed to reflect the reality of the role and how you operate in a live environment.

You will be asked to:

• Deliver a short practical session or activity with young people, demonstrating your ability to engage, communicate and create a safe, inclusive environment
• Complete a scenario-based exercise or presentation linked to hub leadership, programme design or local impact
• Take part in a follow-up discussion with the panel, reflecting on your approach and decisions

This stage allows us to see how you balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and how you connect with young people — a critical part of the role.

Second stage interviews will be held 4-6pm on either Monday 14thJuly, Tuesday 15th July, Friday 17th July in person and you must be available for one of these dates.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the successful Mind in Bexley Recovery College team. The Recovery College was formed by Mind in Bexley in 2014 and our purpose is to develop and deliver programmes of self-management, awareness and information sessions for adults with experience of mental ill-health to promote wellbeing and recovery, for their relatives and friends and for professionals working in the London Borough of Bexley.

As a Recovery College Facilitator, you’ll be a key point of contact within the Recovery College. Your responsibilities will focus around designing, delivering, evaluating, reporting and the continuous development of structured learning programmes for people with mental ill health. You will help shape the ongoing vision and goals of the Recovery College to ensure that future development of the service meets the needs of the people it supports. You will also participate in external forums, workshops and events to promote the work and ethos of Mind in Bexley.
Key Responsibilities

1. Make a positive contribution to the delivery of a thriving, innovative and effective Recovery College.

2. As part of the Recovery College team, deliver both face to face and online courses, workshops and groups according to curriculum requirements.

3. As required, design, deliver and evaluate courses, workshops and groups ensuring co-production at each stage.

4. Ensure effective learning takes place by using evidence based interventions, appropriate teaching methods and learning processes.

5. Demonstrate effectiveness by achieving high levels of student retention, measuring impact, increased involvement of participants and positive individual progress.

6. Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.

7. Undertake client assessments and regularly review individual progress.

8. Support individuals in setting learning goals and participating in workshops, courses and groups to ensure positive learning outcomes.

9. Keep accurate and up to date records of client including attendance, assessments, progress and impact measures.

10. Signpost and refer clients to internal and external services when appropriate.

11. Ensure individual inclusion, accessibility and other needs are met.

12. Provide clients with information and advice on further learning and progression opportunities including volunteering and support into employment

13. Participate in external forums, workshops, meetings and events to promote the work of the Recovery College and Mind in Bexley.

14. Keep up to date on local resources, facilities, training and recovery services.

15. Work effectively with peer facilitators and volunteers.

16. Work in partnership with team members, colleagues, professionals and other services.

17. Participate in induction, training, supervision and continual professional development.

18. See advice and support from line manager when needed.

19. Identify, report and monitor any safeguarding concerns or risk in accordance with the latest local procedures.

Our Facilities team works hard to ensure that every guest visiting Woodrow has a safe and memorable visit. You will be working alongside the wider team to maintain all buildings, including our Grade II listed Manor House and Leisure Centre, and the outside grounds and activity areas, to ensure the site is welcoming, tidy and safe for all. You will assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring we remain compliant with relevant Health & Safety legislation; and will be involved in various duties that contribute to the wider success of the Centre and London Youth. 

What you will be doing 

The Facilities Assistant provides logistical and maintenance support for the Woodrow estate and holds the following core responsibilities. This is not intended as an exhaustive list, and the job may change over time to reflect the changing needs of our centre, as well as the personal development needs of the post holder. 

Grounds upkeep: 

• General upkeep of the 26-acre estate grounds e.g. pruning, mowing, planting, tidying gardens. 
• Keeping grounds, paths and hard surfaces safe and free of ice, snow, leaves, weeds, etc. 
• Maintaining the 3G astro pitch, cycle circuit and outdoor activity areas.

Building maintenance: 

• Undertake day-to-day minor repairs, e.g. patching, painting, leaky taps, hinges, caulking, etc. 
• Undertake cyclical / seasonal jobs e.g. clearing gutters, drains, drain gratings, etc. 
• Support with biomass boiler maintenance and receive woodchip deliveries. 
• Support with basic utilities issues as they arise, e.g. heating, plumbing, electrical, etc. 

Health and safety: 

• Undertake routine safety/compliance checks of all facilities including, among other things, legionella temperature aduits, emergency equipment inspections and tests, etc. 
• Support the FM with risk assessments and work procedures relevant to the role. 
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out using systems in place for auditing. 

General duties: 

• Basic joinery, carpentry and build projects done in house, under direction of the FM. 
• Supervise outside contractors to ensure all jobs are carried out to agreed standards. 
• Supervise corporate volunteer groups who support us with gardening or build projects. 
• Support with setup and occasional on-the-day attendance at various events. 
• Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by London Youth's management that ensure the ongoing success of the charity and delivery of excellent customer experiences. 

What you bring to the role 

Experience, Knowledge & Skills 

We do not expect candidates to have expertise in all areas, but at a minimum experience of minor buildings repairs and maintenance and groundskeeping work is essential to this role. Training will be provided to address some gaps where necessary and relevant. 

• Experience with grounds maintenance including tree and lawn care, gardening, etc. 
• Experience of maintenance in heating, plumbing, electrical systems. 
• Demonstrable good practical DIY skills, including decorating, joinery, carpentry, repairs, etc. 
• Experience using power and maintenance tools, including small tractor with mower, jigsaws, strimmers, etc. 
• Demonstrable understanding of Health & Safety regulations relevant to this type of role; the importance of compliance, evidencing and contributing to this. 
• Hold a good level of fitness and able to work outside in variable weather conditions. 
• Experience of conducting regular compliance checks, recording and reporting on them. 
• Able to use digital systems for record keeping, including Microsoft Office and various apps. 
• A current driving licence (tractor experience is also desirable).

Qualifications in the use of a chainsaw, power tools, tractor driving, pool plant are desirable.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The function of the Maintenance Operative is to support the safe, compliant and effective maintenance of the Hospice estate, including grounds and retail properties, by undertaking a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks.

The postholder will ensure that facilities remain safe, functional and well-presented, working under the direction of the Estates & Facilities Lead to deliver maintenance activities, support statutory compliance, and assist with the coordination of contractors and improvement works across all sites.

1. Daily walk-through main site & grounds to identify problems/issues including checks of lighting, wells, sewage system, CCTV/security & BMS login
2. Report & take action on any breakdown or defects in premises, copiers, plant, equipment & grounds taking action promptly, notifying senior managers & prioritising safety
3. Undertake a wide range of general maintenance and minor works, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and repairs, ensuring work is completed safely and to an appropriate standard.
4.  Organize moving & storage of items delivered to the main hospice site
5.  Oversee contractors on site as agreed with the Estates & Facilities Lead
6. Ensure weekly check of generator fuel, roadworthiness of all hospice vehicles, fire alarm test, flushing & logging results on a web portal & agreeing a remedial plan with Affinity water if necessary
7. Management of copiers and any issues with them to include lease renewal
8. Support the Estates & Facilities Lead with weekly maintenance support & response to emergency facilities requests for all retail premises, liaising with shop staff as necessary & ordering & collecting supplies
9. Manage and prioritise jobs as required using the PPM
10. Use the Estates PPM system to log, update and close jobs, ensuring accurate and timely record keeping of all maintenance activities
11. Participating in the departmental meetings reporting on: Quantity of outstanding works &/or repairs with subcontractors, health and safety and any regulatory compliance risks
12. Support the coordination of servicing and maintenance of clinical equipment as required, recognising that responsibility for clinical assets and compliance remains with the relevant clinical teams.
13. Progress chasing outstanding work with the in-house team and contractors
14. Ensure all weekly checks and planned tasks are carried out
15. Ensure drinking water stations are replenished whenever necessary
16. Monthly check of emergency lighting
17. Check products against the COSHH register and dispose of any that are not required or should not be held.  Carry out COSHH Risk Assessments as necessary
18. Check all Health and Safety Notices are current and update/replace/remove those that aren’t
19. Co-ordinate quarterly fire drills, support the Fire Marshalls meeting and ensure feedback at Link Up
20. Support the Estates & Facilities Lead in water management (including septic tank and well water filtration) in compliance with statutory processes & procedures to ensure HSG274 compliance
21. Ensure all quarterly checks and planned tasks are carried out, including in-house PAT test scheduling
22. Support the Estates & Facilities Lead to ensure compliance with biannual services of all patient equipment subject to LOLER regulations, the biannual water quality test, the dismantling and clean extractor fans, ventilation shaft and solar panel checks
23. Check Hospice vehicles ensuring records of services, inspections, road tax, MOT; and that the competencies and licences of minibus drivers comply with appropriate regulations
24. Assist with the preparation of the annual maintenance budget
25. Assisting with energy monitoring and reduction strategies
26. Provide direction and support to maintenance staff
27. Promote a proactive, solution-focused team culture
28. Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times

The Facilities Co-ordinator is responsible for setting up and overseeing general facilities and health & safety activities, risk assessments, fire safety, incident management, planning building and facilities repairs for the Students’ Union. The postholder line manages the reception team and Volunteer Drivers while coordinating business equipment, office consumables, non-clinical cleaning, secondary catering coordination and waste management. This is a hands-on role; undertaking planned communal cleaning, responding to unexpected cleaning needs, undertaking cleaning of empty properties, working on and assessing the day‑to‑day compliance of our sites. Main Duties & Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding

• Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding of volunteers across all Hospice roles, including clinical, wellbeing, family support, retail, fundraising, finance, facilities and administrative roles.

• Support with the planning and delivery of an annual programme of volunteer engagement events (e.g. Sunday lunches, feedback forums, seasonal events): Coordinate event logistics including communications, RSVPs, venues, catering and health & safety.

We’re looking for a Natural Estate Manager to lead and deliver a busy but rewarding programme of conservation work across Gilwell Park, helping to improve habitats, boost biodiversity and create more opportunities for people to connect with nature. Guided by our new 10-year woodland management plan and best-practice conservation methods, you’ll take a hands-on approach to estate maintenance and habitat improvement across the site.

Summary of Role

The Head of Business Operations will play a key leadership role within The Brain Charity, leading and overseeing the effective and safe delivery of a range of business and operational activities.
