About the role
We’re seeking a PPIE Manager to lead and strengthen patient involvement across mitochondrial disease research. As an equal partner in the LifeArc Centre for Rare Mitochondrial Diseases, The Lily Foundation leads the programme’s patient and public involvement strategy.
While the initial priority for this role is delivering the PPIE strategy for the LifeArc Centre, as a permanent member of the team, you’ll be responsible for building a sustainable involvement infrastructure that extends across all Lily Foundation research workstreams.
You’ll become a ‘patient expert’ who can bridge the gap between the patient community and the scientific world. You’ll be proactive in upskilling and empowering both patients and researchers, ensuring that lived experience remains the compass for future research.
Key responsibilities
- Lead LifeArc Centre delivery: Work closely with LifeArc leadership and researchers to embed meaningful patient involvement across research activities and work packages.
- Develop the IMPACT network: Grow and support our national patient involvement network, identifying opportunities for families to contribute to research design and documentation.
- Deliver training and capacity building: Develop and deliver training, guidance and workshops to upskill patients, families and researchers in effective PPIE practices.
- Translate and communicate research: Work with our Marketing Team to provide content for the promotion of research news and medical information through social platforms and web-based materials.
- Facilitate focus groups and webinars: Organise patient focus groups to develop a strong knowledge of community needs and lead our quarterly online ‘Zoom Room’ sessions.
- Evaluate and report impact: Measure and share the ‘real world’ impact of PPIE activity to demonstrate its value to LifeArc partners and funders.
- Shape future strategy: Support the development of the UK Mitochondrial Disease Research Institute, ensuring lived experience remains central to the future direction of mitochondrial research.

Essential knowledge and skills
- Professional background: A background in science, nursing or research, with the proven ability to digest complex medical concepts and ‘translate’ them into accessible, jargon-free content.
- PPIE expertise: A deep understanding of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement best practices and the different stages of the research cycle.
- Training and facilitation: Confidence in designing and delivering workshops or capacity-building activities for audiences ranging from families to senior researchers.
- Exceptional communication: Confidence in building relationships with families, senior academic leads and industry partners.
- Organisational drive: High levels of organisation and the ability to work independently to manage multiple priorities within a ‘small but mighty’ remote team.
Essential experience
- Direct engagement: Substantial experience working directly with patients, families or the public within a charity, research or healthcare setting.
- Delivering PPIE: A proven track record of delivering involvement activities that have influenced research or service design.

JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Manager is a high-impact role, central to designing and delivering Magic Breakfast’s national policy and public affairs strategy in England. More broadly, you will keep abreast of political developments relevant to Magic Breakfast - proactively identifying opportunities to respond, influence and shape the debate across the school food system and provide strategic, analytical and timely advice to the Senior Leadership Team.
Using your excellent communication skills, you will be able to translate complex policy into tailored and effective communications, policy briefings, positions and submissions, and will play a lead role in confidently engaging external stakeholders including UK Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, special advisers, officials and sector partners.

- Co-ordinating the allocation of resources and planning of support activities within the Income Maximisation Service, ensuring person centred support is provided.
- Overseeing caseload allocation and monitoring referral volumes.
- Carrying our regular quality assurance and compliance checks, including staff observations, file reviews, checking the accuracy of advice given.
- Managing the Income Maximisation team including recruitment, induction, identifying training needs, ensuring appropriate training is undertaken and that relevant policies, practices and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensuring that individual cases are allocated and supported in an integrated way that best meets the beneficiaries’ needs.

Supporter Relations Executive
The Supporter Relations and Fundraising Operations team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is a key point of contact in the charity for supporters and members of the public and ensures the highest standards in operational processes and compliance, in order to ensure a first-class supporter experience.
The Supporter Relations Executive will be responsible for delivering supporter facing engagement activities ensuring delivery of an excellent experience for every contact, recognise opportunities to increase supporter loyalty, and generate the maximum amount of income for dementia research. This role primarily works within the Supporter Relations sub- team alongside other Executives. To ensure appropriate resourcing across the wider team and maintain SLAs, the role will also carry out donation processing and other operational tasks relating to supporter activities, where required.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporter Enquiry Management
· Provide exceptional supporter care, ensuring every supporter and member of the public enjoys an outstanding experience when engaging with the charity, in all communications: inbound telephone calls, emails, social media messages and enquiries by post.
· Respond to a wide range of enquiries including marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials, within a timely and professional manner.
· Receive and respond to feedback and complaints from members of the public and supporters, as the first point of contact in the team, escalating where required.
· Ensure the integrity of the CRM database, Salesforce, by amending supporter records accurately, including coding of and processing donations.
· Promote fundraising, engagement and retention opportunities when communicating with supporters, using a range of initiatives to explain the positive impact of their donations in contributing to the charity mission, ‘for a cure’.
· Ensure formal guidelines and best practice are adhered to in relation to Direct Debits, Gift Aid, FR codes of Fundraising Practice, Gambling Commission, and Data Protection Act.
Supporter Stewardship:
· Engage in outbound telephone calls and written communications to increase the value of, or to retain supporters; this will include thanking, stewardship activity, obtaining Gift Aid declarations and vulnerability checks.
· Support the Fundraising Relationship team to manage accounts specific to their regions, to ensure excellent supporter stewardship.
· Effectively and consistently seek opportunities to build networks among our fundraising community, ensuring these are directed to appropriate fundraising teams.
· Seek opportunities for repeat fundraising, by identifying opportunities and engaging with supporters as part of our re-engagement process.
· Manage the supporter follow‑up process to ensure funds are received promptly and accurately.
· Engage supporters in the best practice in ‘in aid of’ fundraising policies and deliver promotion of this opportunity.

Job Purpose
The Director of Fundraising & Partnerships is accountable for leading the vision, strategy and performance of Habitat GB’s fundraising, partnerships, engagement and resource mobilisation activity.
This role combines senior‑level engagement and income generation leadership with organisational and strategic responsibility. The postholder will design and deliver ambitious, sustainable income and partnership strategies; strengthen Habitat GB’s profile and positioning; and lead a high‑performing, values‑led team.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Fundraising & Partnerships plays a key role in organisational leadership, transformation, and long‑term sustainability, working collaboratively across Habitat GB, the international Habitat network and with a wide range of external partners. This role has 4 direct reports, and an overall team of 10.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Strategic Fundraising, Partnerships & Engagement
- Design, deliver and adapt an integrated multi‑year fundraising and partnerships strategy, setting ambitious and achievable targets that increase income, engagement and impact.
- Lead the organisation’s approach to partnerships, philanthropy, fundraising and resource mobilisation across all non-institutional income streams, including:
- Trusts and foundations (UK and international)
- Corporate partnerships and strategic alliances
- High‑net‑worth individuals and philanthropic supporters
- Blended funding, including institutional and investment‑linked income where appropriate
- Shape and deliver Habitat GB’s positioning as a credible, innovative and impactful development and housing partner.

- Hold accountability for all non-institutional fundraising income targets and performance against agreed budgets, with responsibility for year-on- year growth and diversification of income streams.
- Set clear quality standards, KPIs and expectations to promote accountability, ownership and high performance within the team.
- Oversee active management of a robust, strategically aligned prospect and partnership pipeline.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Impact & Influence to align opportunities, approaches and targets across non-institutional and institutional partnerships and fundraising pipelines.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance, Operations & Compliance on income forecasting, financial planning, reporting and budget management.
- Ensure high-quality impact, financial and narrative reporting to funders, partners, the SLT and Trustees.
Senior Partnerships, Stewardship & External Profile
- Lead and model relationship-based development with priority prospects, partners and influencers.
- Act as senior relationship lead for key high value corporate partners, donors and funders, ensuring excellent stewardship and long‑term engagement.
- Support and enhance relationship building with High‑Net‑Worth Individuals, Trusts and Foundations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop compelling proposals, propositions and reports across funding opportunities, positioning Habitat GB as a partner of choice across all priority audiences.
- Raise the profile and positioning of HFHGB through public engagement, media opportunities, online presence and attendance at relevant networks and events.
- Respond strategically to external opportunities and challenges, protecting and enhancing Habitat GB’s reputation and impact.
Leadership & Management of the Fundraising & Partnerships Team
- Lead, inspire and develop a high performing, ambitious team focussed on fundraising, partnerships, communications and brand marketing.
- Provide clear direction, prioritisation and performance management through regular 1‑to‑1s, objective setting, feedback and development.
- Ensure effective planning, resourcing and deployment of team capacity and budget.

Organisational & Executive Leadership
- Act as a collaborative senior leader, supporting the National Director in delivering HFHGB’s strategy and vision.

Main Purpose of the Role:
To provide proactive, emotional, and practical support to families and individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) across Scotland. The role will focus on early engagement, wellbeing assessment, community building, and delivery of workshops and events, while ensuring accurate tracking of support outcomes and data.
The successful candidate will also lead on support for young people living with Duchenne during 2 key transition points (primary to secondary school stage and moving into adulthood). They will work closely with the England-based Transitions Coordinator to deliver a joined-up programme of support across the UK.
Specific Tasks:
1. Proactive Family Support
- Initiate contact with newly registered families within agreed timeframes (email within 3 working days, call within 7–10 working days)
- Contact to be made to all registered Action Duchenne members, knows to us in Scotland, to ensure the current support offer is clear
- Provide ongoing support tailored to individual needs, including emotional wellbeing, physical health, housing, financial security, self-esteem and respect, decision-making, social engagement, quality of life, and access to care
- Use the Action Duchenne Assessment Form and Action Plan to identify and respond to areas of concern
2. Transitions Support
· Lead transition support across all nations, with a focus on Scotland, for children and young people facing key life changes, including:
· Moving between educational settings such as primary to secondary
· Transitioning from paediatric to adult health services
· Changes in mobility and independence (e.g. transitioning to using powerchairs)
· You will lead, but expected to work collaboratively with the England-based Transition Coordinator to ensure consistency and continuity of support across the UK
· Develop resources, guidance, and workshops to support families through transitions
3. Wellbeing Tracking and Outcome Measurement
· Administer wellbeing questionnaires and record scores across key domains (e.g. physical health, emotional wellbeing, financial security)
· Collaborate with families to co-create action plans and track progress
· Ensure all data is entered into CRM (E-Tapestry or similar) within the allotted timeframe, i.e. immediately after or during the call.
4. Community Engagement and Event Delivery
· Organise and deliver regional meetups (minimum one per quarter)

The Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies UK (CVAA) aims to improve adoption policy and practice across the UK for the benefit of children, challenging the adoption system to deliver for children and work in their best interests. Alongside advocating for system change, CVAA works to support our member voluntary adoption agencies (VAAs) across the four nations of the UK, stimulating innovation and ensuring they stay at the leading edge of practice. The active engagement of members and the building of collaborative alliances with others who seek positive change for children are essential to the effectiveness of our work.
The Head of Policy is a vital member of the small CVAA team, working closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to champion the voluntary adoption sector and put children at the heart of everything we do. Due to maternity leave we have an exceptional and unique opportunity for someone who shares our passion to change the world for children, to gain valuable experience working at national level with senior stakeholders to contribute to system change, advocating for the power of adoption to change lives.
You will need strong people skills, experience of developing policy in consultation with stakeholders and using data to transform services and strengthen lobbying work. Most of all you need a cast iron commitment to change the world for vulnerable children.
