Why work for Kids Matter?
About us
Kids Matter is one of the UK’s fastest growing children’s charities. Our vision is to see every child in need raised in a strong family. Our mission is to reduce the impact of poverty on children through community-based parenting programmes.
Research shows that group-based early intervention parenting groups are the most effective way to support children in need. We train peer facilitators in local churches - the largest voluntary body in the country - to run our affordable, accessible and highly effective parenting programmes, written by Clinical Psychologists. They come alongside parents and carers, building long-lasting community in addition to encouraging confidence and learning positive parenting skills.
We value difference and diversity, and we want our workplace to be built on shared values of equality and mutual trust, with team members representing the wide range of backgrounds and experiences that exist within the UK. We therefore actively encourage applications from people of diverse backgrounds and varied experiences, particularly those who are African, Afro-Caribbean, Asian or part of other minority ethnic communities, who have lived experience of the impact of low-income/low-support circumstances, and who are living with a disability or identify as being neurodivergent.
About the role
The Executive Assistant to the CEO role involves:
About you
Do you have strong attention to detail and accuracy? Can you use initiative and be proactive? Are you a Christian with an active faith in Jesus? Do you have a passion for Kids Matter’s vision of seeing every child in need raised in a strong family?
Then we would love to hear from you!

You can apply for the Executive Assistant to the CEO (maternity cover) position by clicking ‘Apply via Website’ and completing a copy of our online application form.

Principal Data Scientist
Remote (UK-based) | Full-time - £104,732 + benefits (including 4.5-day week and 11% employer pension)
Do your best work, for the right reasons.
We're looking for a Principal Data Scientist who can design, build, and champion advanced data science solutions that drive better decisions across Oak.
Oak is a fully remote, mission-driven organisation offering high levels of flexibility, autonomy, and purpose. We're a national not-for-profit working in partnership with teachers to create high-quality, sequenced curriculum and lesson resources for pupils across all subjects and age groups.
Our culture has been independently recognised through:
Flexa verified (93% overall score, including 95% for working hours and 97% for role modelling)
Escape the City's Top 1% Employers – based on anonymous colleague reviews of culture, development, and impact
Investors in People Gold - through external accreditation and colleague feedback
About the Role
You'll own the continuous improvement of our data science processes and systems: leading the design and deployment of predictive models and NLP applications at scale, setting responsible AI and data governance standards, and translating complex insights into compelling recommendations for senior leaders and cross-functional squads. You'll maintain specialist expertise across machine learning, and statistical analysis, and be a trusted authority—both within Oak and across the education sector.
You'll work closely with our Head of Data and Director of Engineering, contribute to organisational strategy, and partner with EdTech sector leaders, government bodies, and data analytics providers on initiatives that matter. The work is technically rigorous, high-impact, and grounded in a mission to make evidence-informed decision-making the norm in education.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for the continuous improvement across multiple data science processes, systems, vision and strategy.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced data science solutions, including predictive models and NLP applications, at scale.
Design and implement responsible AI, data governance, and privacy standards across Oak's data science practice.
Champion the role of data science in supporting Oak's mission, ensuring evidence-informed decision-making at strategic and operational levels by translating data science insights into product and business decisions.
Maintain specialist expertise in data science and be an authority across Oak and more widely across the sector.
As a member of the Oak Team, you may contribute to the strategy, planning and model the culture of the organisation.
Work in cross-functional and product-oriented squads, translating complex statistical concepts for non-technical colleagues and presenting findings compellingly to senior leaders.
Deputise for the Head of Data and take on other general responsibilities as required.
What we’re looking for
5+ years' experience holding responsibility for the continuous improvement of data science processes and systems, including designing and delivering data science products that create measurable organisational value.
Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing, with the ability to select and apply appropriate methods to complex problems.
A track record of identifying and addressing ethical and privacy considerations in data science, including responsible AI, bias detection, and compliance frameworks.
Proven experience scoping, designing, and deploying advanced data science solutions (predictive models, NLP applications) at scale, from conception through to production.
Proven ability to translate complex statistical concepts for non-technical audiences and present findings compellingly to senior leaders and cross-functional squads.
Experience working in cross-functional, product-oriented environments and influencing strategic and operational decisions through data science insight.
A good understanding of education policy, the UK education system, and EdTech sector challenges (desirable, not essential).
The successful candidate will have a desire to contribute across all areas to ensure Oak is successful. You will be comfortable working at pace, with a range of digital systems (including proprietary ones as required), and you will continuously look at ways that the team can keep getting better. You will be excellent at working as part of a remote team, building relationships and managing your time effectively.
Our Benefits
25 days annual leave, plus one extra day for each year of service (up to 28)
Additional Oak closure days over Christmas/New Year
11% employer pension contribution (with no minimum employee contribution, which can be varied as you choose). Please note this is a workplace pension rather than the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
A 36-hour working week, with half-days on Fridays or every other Friday off.
Fully remote working — we’ll support your home set-up and offer coworking options if preferred
Twice-yearly in-person whole Oak offsites to collaborate, connect, and have fun (with other occasional team events in person)
A culture that genuinely supports flexibility, autonomy, and trust
Inclusion and Belonging
We believe diverse teams build better products. We warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds, particularly those who are underrepresented in the tech and education sectors.
If you're from an underrepresented group, there's a good chance you're discounting yourself before you've even started. That's more common than you'd think, and it means we may miss out on brilliant people. If you're excited by this role but don't meet every requirement, please apply anyway.
We use the Applied platform to help reduce bias in our hiring process. Answers are anonymised and reviewed by a panel of humans.

About us
Foxglove is a non-profit that exists to make the use of technology fair for all. When Big Tech companies abuse their power, their workers or the planet – and when governments use technology to oppress, exclude or discriminate – we litigate and campaign to fix it.
Big Tech companies have become so large – gobbling up a huge slice of the global marketplace and an unprecedented treasure hoard of user data – that they’re now more powerful than many states. The harmful effects of this concentration of power are everywhere – threats to our democracy, to our privacy, decimated workers’ rights and platforms rife with disinformation and hate. Big Tech and AI data centres are rapidly expanding, resulting in huge strain on energy and water supplies. Worldwide governments are ploughing ahead with the use of algorithms and mass data systems to cut costs and increase efficiency often resulting in digital tools that entrench unfairness and leave the most vulnerable in society in crisis. All these problems are only getting worse with generative AI.
Foxglove works to bring the rule of law to the tech and AI giants who have upended our public square, workplaces, and social lives. We have a strong track record. We’ve launched landmark cases seeking structural changes to big tech’s harmful business models, supported 180+ Facebook content moderators fired for trying to form a union to sue Facebook and their outsourcing company, Sama – winning world-first judgements. We're urging competition regulators worldwide to stop Google’s theft of independent news. We’ve filed the UK’s first legal challenge to a data centre permission decision, forced disclosure of secret contracts between tech giants and the NHS, stopped a racist Home Office visa streaming algorithm, helped make grading fair for UK A-level students and challenged the Department of Work and Pension’s use of an algorithm unfairly flagging disabled people for benefit fraud investigations.
We are a small but growing team of lawyers, communications experts, and campaigners. Our work is global, and we work in partnership with lawyers, civil society, unions, and people impacted by Big Tech.
The role
Foxglove is seeking a Digital Campaigner to deliver our digital campaigning, our digital communications, our social media and our website. This role would sit within our advocacy and communications team, which works towards stronger accountability for Big Tech, and an end to states’ misuse of algorithms and AI.
We want people in power to put an end to tech abuses that negatively impact our lives. But we’re up against an army of Big Tech lobbyists, working to shield their industry – and its vast profits – from any form of restraint. That’s why we need to ensure that the public, and our representatives in government and politics, are armed with the facts and knowledge they need to stand up to Big Tech billionaires.
We’re looking for someone with significant experience in digital campaigning. The Digital Campaigner will not only identify these areas but act to implement the strategy they help devise – taking a hands-on and energetic approach.
As part of a small and flexible team, you will also be expected to contribute to our wider areas of work as needed, across communications, advocacy and supporter campaigns.

How to apply
Please make your application via the Applied link provided answering the application questions and uploading your CV. We will not review applications sent via a job board or to our email. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with first round interviews likely to take place in September for selected candidates.
All applications are reviewed by a Foxglove member of staff. We do not use automated systems to select which candidates proceed through the recruitment process. The only way in which we will use generative AI is as a comparison, to assess whether applications may have been AI generated. We do not otherwise use AI to process applications, and would request that candidates do not use generative AI to draft theirs.
Foxglove is growing and we are striving to build a team that is inclusive. We will create a diverse and adaptable environment where we support people to do their best work. We believe an effective and creative team is made up of people from different walks of life. You can read more about how we work and what we offer our staff on our website.
