About CARE
CARE International is a global humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty and inequality until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We know that when a crisis erupts, women are often the first to pick up the pieces, so we work alongside women, so they have the power to make change where it’s needed most. Founded in 1945, CARE currently works in over 100 countries and last year alone reached 53.4 million people through nearly 1,500 projects.
Why work for CARE International UK?
At CARE International UK, we're committed to creating lasting change in the fight against poverty and inequality around the world. Behind that impact is a community of talented, passionate people who bring expertise, collaboration and purpose to everything they do.
We're committed to fostering a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to contribute their best. As part of our People & Organisational Development team, you'll have the opportunity to shape how people experience working at CARE, influence organisation-wide initiatives, and help build an environment where individuals and teams can flourish.
This is a chance to use your expertise in a role that combines strategic influence with meaningful, people-centred work, all within an organisation driven by a clear social purpose.
About the role
Working closely with leaders across the organisation, you'll take the lead on talent management and learning and development initiatives that help colleagues build rewarding careers and reach their full potential. From leadership development and succession planning to career pathways and organisational capability, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring CARE has the talent, skills and leadership needed to achieve its ambitions now and in the future.
You'll develop and deliver initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, support professional growth and contribute to a positive organisational culture. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, you'll help ensure colleagues have the tools, skills and experiences needed to reach their full potential and make their greatest contribution to CARE's mission.
You'll be instrumental in helping the organisation navigate change, strengthen communication and foster a shared sense of direction and purpose. Combining insight, creativity and practical delivery, you'll identify opportunities to improve how we support our people and continuously enhance the experience of our colleagues.
This is a varied and influential role for someone who enjoys building relationships, turning ideas into action and making a visible contribution to organisational success.
About you
You'll be an experienced people professional with a strong track record of delivering talent, learning, engagement and culture initiatives that drive organisational performance and improve employee experience. Combining both a strategic and pragmatic approach, you’ll be able to identify opportunities for improvement and find practical solutions.
Alongside your ability to build strong relationships, you’ll be able to influence and challenge constructively while maintaining credibility and trust. Experience within the charity, international development or wider values-led sector would be highly desirable, as would experience managing external consultants. About You
You will be an experienced insight, evaluation or research practitioner with strong analytical skills and a practical, community-focused approach to generating, analysing and using evidence.
You will be confident working directly with Global Majority communities and colleagues across REN and HHU, developing accessible methods, tools and resources to gather and make sense of qualitative, quantitative and lived-experience evidence. You will understand the importance of building evaluation and learning into community engagement and co-design from the outset.
You will bring professional curiosity, methodological integrity and sound judgement, able to identify patterns, question assumptions and communicate clearly what the evidence does and does not tell us, where evidence is limited and where further investigation is needed.
You will work closely with the Anti-Racism Strategic Lead and Bhip Programme Lead, providing robust analytical and evidence support while retaining professional objectivity and methodological responsibility for the underlying evidence. You will be confident reporting findings accurately, including where evidence is limited, contradictory or uncomfortable for REN, HHU or system partners, and will work collaboratively across the wider Bhip team to ensure evidence and learning are useful, accessible and acted upon.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to help build and shape the insight, evaluation and learning approach for an ambitious five-year programme, working across communities, organisations and systems to understand what is changing, what works, for whom, how and under what circumstances.
Bhip has a working Theory of Change and an emerging evaluation framework, logic model, and Global outcomes and data system, which will continue to evolve through learning. You will help turn what we learn into accessible evidence, resources and learning for communities, Bhip colleagues, partners and decision-makers, ensuring communities can see how their insight was used, what action followed, what changed, what did not change and why and contributing to learning across Bradford and the National Collective.

Creativity and innovation will be important in shaping how Bhip communicates its purpose, work, learning and impact, alongside the strategic judgement to understand what needs to be communicated, why, to whom and through which channels.
You will be confident developing and evolving a communications strategy, identifying audiences, shaping messages, narratives and tone of voice, and considering how complex and sensitive issues are communicated.
Strong cultural awareness and understanding will be important, including an appreciation of how culture, language, identity and lived experience can shape how different communities understand and respond to information. The ability to adapt language and communications approaches so that information is clear, accessible, culturally relevant and meaningful, without losing context or nuance, will be central to the role.
The role will span communities, programme teams, partners and creative specialists, from photographers and videographers to designers, digital specialists and other creative partners. You will be able to listen, build relationships, understand different perspectives and use community insight to shape communications that connect with people. You will bring people together around ideas, work confidently across different areas of the programme and use sound judgement to turn opportunities into action.
An understanding of Bhip’s anti-discrimination purpose and community-led approach, alongside a genuine commitment to addressing health inequities caused by structural racism and discrimination, will be essential.
