As Centre Fundraising Manager you will develop and implement a centre specific fundraising plan to raise income from the community through a variety of fundraising sources.
You will be responsible for effectively and autonomously managing the full portfolio of activity relating to the centre and to manage complex networks and relationships which have a wider national focus.
You will also be responsible for fundraising across a range of income streams including businesses, individuals, community groups, volunteers and media contacts.

About the role
We’re seeking a PPIE Manager to lead and strengthen patient involvement across mitochondrial disease research. As an equal partner in the LifeArc Centre for Rare Mitochondrial Diseases, The Lily Foundation leads the programme’s patient and public involvement strategy.
While the initial priority for this role is delivering the PPIE strategy for the LifeArc Centre, as a permanent member of the team, you’ll be responsible for building a sustainable involvement infrastructure that extends across all Lily Foundation research workstreams.
You’ll become a ‘patient expert’ who can bridge the gap between the patient community and the scientific world. You’ll be proactive in upskilling and empowering both patients and researchers, ensuring that lived experience remains the compass for future research.

This is a hands-on, and vital role within a brand new team. You’ll be the first step in ensuring that everyone in the bereaved military community receives compassionate, personalised, and well-coordinated support.

Service Design & Delivery
Working closely with the Head of START, contribute to the planning and rollout of the START Programme

Job Purpose
The Research Programme Manager will have a strong grounding in scientific research, expertise in grant management, and report to the Director of Research.
The role’s core responsibility will be to lead on the implementation and delivery of large-scale collaborative programmes and funding schemes. About the role:
The Finance Manager is responsible for PLH’s financial systems, controls, and compliance. The role is responsible for ensuring smooth financial operations, accurate and timely reporting, and full compliance with UK Charity Commission requirements and donor regulations.
The position acts as:
- the primary point of contact between PLH and its outsourced accounting firm;
- the operational counterpart to a strategic Senior Director of Finance; and
- the primary source of financial support for programme teams.
Responsibilities:
Financial Operations
- Act as the primary organisational contact for the outsourced accounting firm, setting expectations, reviewing performance, and ensuring service quality.
- Oversee the monthly financial close process, reviewing outputs from the outsourced accounting firm and producing management reports and key financial insights, including:
○ Cash flow and liquidity position
○ Income recognition

○ Project-level budget variance and cost recovery

Essential criteria:
- Fully or part-qualified professional accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent), or demonstrably equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a finance role, including at least two years in a finance management or senior finance position.
- Demonstrable experience overseeing monthly close processes and producing high-quality management accounts and financial reports.
- Strong experience monitoring budgets, maintaining rolling forecasts, and updating financial models based on actuals and revised assumptions.
- Experience preparing for, coordinating, and supporting audits, including liaison with external auditors.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including complex formulas, linked models, and scenario-based inputs and assumptions.

Salary: Circa £47,000 per annum (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,475 per annum may be applied in accordance to where you live)

The Role
The Research Grants Manager leads the design, delivery and governance of the Association’s research funding portfolio. The role ensures that all Association funded research schemes, including fellowships and project grants, are strategically configured, rigorously governed and effectively delivered in line with the Association’s Research Strategy.
The role will ensure that research funding schemes are aligned with external research developments and designed to maximise long-term impact. The role includes formal accountability for embedding high-quality, inclusive and structured lived experience participation within research funding processes.
The Research Grants Manager is the organisational lead for research funding operations, ensuring the Association maintains a sector-leading, transparent and strategically focused funding programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design and operational delivery of Association research funding, including fellowships and project grant schemes.
- Accountable for the governance of funding mechanisms, ensuring fairness, compliance with governance standards and integration within existing research management systems.
- Management of expert review and award decision processes, ensuring robust scientific assessment, transparent decision-making and strategic alignment with organisational priorities.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality and inclusive lived experience involvement within research funding processes.
- Provide authoritative insight about Association funded research to communications, fundraising, policy and service development colleagues to assist with media and fundraising opportunities.
- Contribute to effective financial planning and budget monitoring across all funding schemes, including forecasting, risk management and reporting.
About You
You will:
- Be educated to post graduate level in a science, health, social science or related discipline
- Have experience of research management in a life science setting, including management of research funding award cycles
