An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead and manage the delivery of the North Somerset Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (North Somerset DASS). North Somerset DASS is a new integrated DA service delivering support to adults and children experiencing domestic abuse.

As Service Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery and development of the service. You will have oversight of service delivery and lead on partnership working and collaboration across the county. You will support all staff in their work, ensuring high quality and safe practice.

You will have management experience and a demonstrable track record within the field of domestic abuse and/or health and social care. The role will provide a comprehensive administrative and office management support to the Head of Corporate Services and the department. To establish and maintain effective communication with all departments/units and between offices and other functions of IRUK where relevant. Provide support to Corporate Services activities and projects and to help ensure effective delivery of corporate services strategy and work plan.

The successful candidate must have:

Experience:

• Substantial experience working as an Administrator/PA providing support to a Head of Department / senior manager.
• Demonstrable experience in attending and minuting managerial / executive meetings and assisting with the production of reports.
• Proven experience of working with budgets and strategy and maintaining financial records.
• Proven experience of diary and correspondence management.
• Experience of successfully providing full administrative support to a busy department including collating, monitoring and disseminating information to stakeholders.

Skills:

• Excellent organisational and administration skills. 
• Strong written communication skills necessary to draft letters, minutes, reports and other documentation.
• Strong verbal communication with an excellent telephone manner.

Assistant Accountant Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Process financial transactions, including:

• Raise Venue Hire sales invoices

• Post purchase invoices into SAGE

• Analyse, follow up and post credit card payments

• Maintain journal log book

• Raise and process intercompany invoices Help maintain good financial controls, including:

• Bank reconciliations

• Credit control

• Manage petty cash facilities & check operation of imprest system

What is the Worker-led Transition project?

The Worker-led Transition project is a collaboration between NEON and the Trades Union Congress (TUC) that aims to future-proof manufacturing jobs, accelerate climate action and push back against far-right politics in industrial communities.

The TUC estimates that the future of up to 800,000 jobs in the UK (in sectors like chemicals, automotive, steel, ceramics, their supply chains and more) depend on timely planning and investment in industry to meet the needs of a decarbonised economy. Our project supports workers in high-carbon manufacturing industries to plan for a sustainable future for their workplaces (e.g. making green steel or zero-emissions vehicles), builds alignment across the climate movement in support of a worker-led transition, and counters far-right politics in industrial communities by advancing a vision for a socially just climate transition that protects and creates well-paid, unionised jobs in the clean industries of the future. 

Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to support NEON’s work to build organising capacity in UK social movements, with a focus on NEON’s Worker-led Transition project. You will:

• Build support for a worker-led transition in the climate movement and industrial communities, with an emphasis on local and regional coalition and capacity-building in key industrial regions, as well as strengthening relationships with the trade union movement and industrial workers.
• Provide responsive support to movement organisations when they need it most, offering strategic and organising support and advice.

Key Responsibilities

1. Play a key role in the delivery of NEON’s movement building and organising work for the Worker-led Transition project, by strengthening relationships between the climate movement and trade union movements, and training and supporting local groups and community members to organise and campaign in support of a worker-led transition and a sustainable future for communities in key industrial regions:
   • This will involve visits to industrial sites and communities across England and Wales
2. Co-design and deliver events and trainings, where climate activists and trade union organisers and members can build relationships, strategise and plan joint action to deliver a worker-led transition
3. Collaborate with TUC staff to ensure coordinated and effective action in support of a worker-led transition
4. Work with colleagues in the Movement Building Hub to develop strategy, and join up our organising work across programmes
5. Play an active part in the whole NEON team and the Movement Building Hub Team, contributing to organisation-wide plans, including providing facilitation support for other NEON programmes as and when requested.

Who you are

Please note - this isn’t a tick box exercise and we don’t expect you to meet all of the criteria - it’s more to give both us and you an overall sense of the role, and how the skills and experience you have might map onto it. 

We’re looking for someone with a:

• Proven track record of using organising and movement building approaches to plan and deliver successful campaigns, with at least 3 years of experience. This might include: doing mapping, conducting outreach, organising mass meetings, integrating political education into campaign planning, or convening organisations to build alignment and develop shared strategy
• Ability to design and deliver a complex organising and movement building strategy in a fast moving environment, with sensitivity to movement politics
• Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and work effectively with a range of movement organisations and individuals, including workers and those directly impacted by injustice and oppression
• Experience of delivering trainings and facilitating, including to those at the sharp end of injustice
• Excellent planning skills to ensure projects are designed delivered to a high standard
• Ability to work independently and flexibly in a dynamic organisation
• Experience of delivering trainings and facilitating, including to those at the sharp end of injustice
• Understanding of the climate movement or trade union movement
• Willingness to occasionally work unsociable hours (always repaid with TOIL)
• Proven understanding of anti-oppression work and commitment to tackling all institutional forms of oppression, bigotry and exclusion
• An affinity with NEON’s aims, objectives and organisational values of solidarity, generosity and respect.

The Policy Advisor will lead the development of evidence-led policy development in priority influencing areas. Healthwatch Barnsley (hosted by Barnsley CVS), is going through an exciting redesign to enable community voices to have even greater impact on the current strategies and developments in Barnsley.  The Community Engagement Officer role is an impactful and rewarding opportunity to join the Healthwatch Barnsley Team as we navigate upcoming changes introduced through the new NHS 10 Year Plan and the forthcoming Health Bill.  This role will ensure that the voices of Barnsley residents remain central as we work towards building a health and social care system that is fit for the future.

You will use your excellent interpersonal skills and creativity to gather feedback on Barnsley priorities, ensuring residents’ views shape local projects and developments contributing to Barnsley’s vision as the “Place of Possibilities”.

Working with Barnsley CVS and other established third-sector organisations you will identify new ways to reach under-represented or seldom-heard communities and strengthen how their voices inform local decision-making. You will collaborate with the wider Healthwatch team to support a strong, credible and independent voice within Barnsley’s strategic boards, helping to create a genuinely “Listening Borough”.

By capturing residents’ experiences and feeding them back to services you will contribute to a continuous feedback loop that empowers communities, builds trust and encourages ongoing participation in future engagement activities.

Food Project Coordinator

This role will primarily coordinate our growing food club project, Bristol Goods, but will also provide support for our other services that utilize food to engage people in support and build community connections. 

Caring in Bristol has a legacy of food-based projects; from our inception as Caring at Christmas, through to Cheers Drive, our pandemic response service. We have a fantastic network in the city’s food and hospitality sector which enables us to work in creative ways to alleviate housing insecurity. 

As Food Project Coordinator, you will play a central role in organising our food club operations and ensuring Caring in Bristol upholds food safety standards. A significant part of the role will be centred around building relationships with our food club members and the volunteers that help deliver the service. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to other food-centred activity within the charity, including food provided to our young people’s services and Caring at Christmas. 
 

Key responsibilities 

The workload for the role is split in approximately the proportions: 

~60% of the role 

Food logistics and coordination  

• Support the Senior Project Coordinator to oversee the sourcing, supply and distribution of food, ensuring a consistent and balanced provision of fresh and ambient products for service users each week. This includes driving the Caring in Bristol van (full UK driving licence essential).

• Coordinate and monitor the stock of food, ensuring there’s always sufficient stock levels to cover all the food clubs

• Coordinate the weekly Fareshare delivery and sorting/preparation of food in line with organisational procedures 

• Support the Bristol Goods Team to uphold food safety management within the organisation, ensuring our warehouse space is adequately clean and organised at all times 

• Manage Bristol Goods volunteers on shift to ensure they understand how to carry out their role safely, and enjoy their experience

• Supervise the on-site running of the food clubs on a Rota basis with other Caring in Bristol staff. This does involve cash handling and taking payments.

• Support Senior Project Coordinator to form working relationships with our food suppliers and food sector contacts, and seek out potential new opportunities that could benefit the resilience and breadth of Caring in Bristol’s food offer 

• Supporting the delivery of our other food projects including Bristol Youth Goods. 

• Follow organisational safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, COSSH and van procedures.

Food Club Member Support 

• Interact with members and signpost them to relevant services within Caring in Bristol, in the local community, and city wide.

• Keep up to date with support services across the city to provide appropriate signposting and referrals. 

• Provide support and build relationships with Food Club members through informal check-ins and identify those who may be experiencing challenges impacting their housing or wellbeing. Provide appropriate assistance, including but not limited to, form filling, applying to external volunteering opportunities or training and referring to additional services.

• Uphold the safety and safeguarding of members in the delivery and development of the Bristol Goods service.

• Record members’ attendance, support provided and engagement on our database in line with data protection policies and regulations. 

• Take ownership of our community noticeboard, sharing opportunities and support options in the area.

Other Responsibilities 

• Organisational development work, including; attendance at team meetings, safeguarding reviews and participating in the volunteer support and training. 

• Follow Caring in Bristol policies and procedures and observe our Code of Conduct. 

• Actively participate in and attend supervisions, reflective practice, annual appraisal processes and identified training. 

• Promote the aims and objectives of the charity and present a positive image of Caring in Bristol through good public relations, communications with visitors, young people, guests, people who use our services and the local community.

Alongside this, you will help equip colleagues across schools and the Trust Office with the tools, guidance and insight they need to strengthen fundraising and supporter engagement.
