About the team

The Community, Events and Education team sits within the Mass Engagement department. The team manages a diverse portfolio of marketing, fundraising and engagement activities, ranging from challenge events and the partnership with Glastonbury Festival, to community fundraising and WaterAid’s volunteer Speaker Network. 

The team has major ambitions to grow income beyond £3m, and this is a transformational moment to reimagine how this area can deliver greater impact for WaterAid. There is broad scope for the team and team Lead to put their stamp on this area of the organisation and set a new strategic direction.

About the role

The Community, Events and Education Lead is a critical member of WaterAid’s Mass Engagement Department, driving forward both marketing and fundraising from a range of audiences, as well as leading our Special Events and volunteering activities.

It is a broad role that offers the opportunity to reimagine this area and set a new transformational direction for the team. It is an area that has significant opportunities for income growth and requires a Team Lead to focus our efforts on the largest opportunities. It is a rare and exciting chance for someone with a strategic, entrepreneurial approach to marketing, supporter engagement and special events to create real impact.

The role balances raising income from individuals and groups, bringing them closer to WaterAid and our mission, with delivering first-class volunteering experiences and managing our relationships with key partners, such as Glastonbury Festival.

Job Purpose: Lead delivery of a national climate action programme (BELIEVE in Climate Action), managing cross-sector partnerships, stakeholder engagement and programme operations. Oversee youth-led initiatives and knowledge exchange, while also supporting university teams to deliver the ParliaMentors programme and strengthen student leadership and civic engagement.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Programme Manager to lead delivery of Believe in Climate Action (BELIEVE), an ambitious national initiative at the intersection of climate action, youth leadership and community engagement (3 days per week). This role will also support the delivery of the UN Award winning ParliaMentors project, providing mentoring, training and leadership development opportunities to students across the country, and maintaining strong relationships with University partners (2 days per week).

Together, we are building a bold new model for climate action, one that connects grassroots communities, young leaders, researchers and policymakers through collaboration, co-learning and shared purpose.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to lead a pioneering, cross-sector initiative that is reshaping how climate action happens in England. Key Responsibilities

Programme leadership & delivery

· Lead the strategic and operational delivery of BELIEVE across its three interlinked workstreams

· Ensure effective planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a multi-year national programme

Stakeholder engagement & partnerships

· Mentor and support two teams of students at two universities as they work together to deliver a social action project

· Contributing to communications for the programme on social media, LinkedIn, and newsletters

Person Specification

Essential Experience

· Significant experience managing complex, multi-partner programmes (ideally national or multi-regional)

· Demonstrable expertise in stakeholder engagement at a senior level, including building and maintaining strong partnerships across sectors

· Strong track record of delivering complex programmes on time and within budget

· Confidence and proven experience in line management (this role will line manage 1 Project Coordinator, and oversee an internship programme of up to 8 paid interns per year)

· Strong financial management skills, and experience managing large budgets (this role will be responsible for financial management of the BELIEVE project, and reporting to funders)

What You’ll Do

About the role

We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Finance Officer to join our small and welcoming team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with detail, likes helping others understand finance processes, and wants their work to genuinely make a difference. This role is only being offered in a full time, permanent capacity.

You’ll be right at the heart of the organisation, supporting our finance and grants work and helping keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. The role is mostly home‑based, so you’ll need a safe and suitable space to work from. We’ll provide a laptop and phone, and you’ll spend at least one day a week with the team in our Leatherhead office.

What you’ll be doing

Finance & grants support

• Looking after day‑to‑day bookkeeping using Xero, including accurate coding of transactions

• Reconciling bank accounts and Barclaycard statements each month

• Setting up and maintaining supplier and donor records, including bank details

• Supporting colleagues with ApprovalMax, Coretime and timesheet processing

• Reviewing staff and volunteer expenses to make sure they follow our policies

• Preparing supplier payment runs for review

• Helping set up project codes, tracking categories and staff rates

• Supporting grants administration, including budget monitoring and donor reporting

• Pulling together financial information and evidence for audits and funder reports

• Working closely with the Finance Manager on reporting, reconciliations and planning

General & team support

• Being part of the Finance & Operations team, helping colleagues with systems and IT queries

• Working with our external IT support when needed

• Contributing ideas to improve how we work across finance, HR, IT and office processes

• Getting involved in team events and wider organisational activities

• Pitching in with other admin tasks as needed — we’re a small team and support each other

About you

You’re approachable, well‑organised and comfortable working with numbers and systems. You enjoy helping others, take pride in doing things accurately, and are happy juggling a range of tasks. You will be confident, with the ability to seek out and solve problems on your own initiative, whilst working within a supportive framework.

You’ll need:

• An AAT Level 2 qualification or equivalent hands‑on finance experience

• At least one year’s experience in a finance or accounting role

• Experience using accounting software such as Xero or Sage

• Good Excel and general IT skills

Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA) is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Peer Mentoring Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The successful post holder will work with our peer mentoring team to empower young people to co-produce and deliver peer support programmes which draw on their own knowledge and lived-experience to help others.

The post holder will train youth facilitators to deliver our peer mentoring service through one-to-one peer mentoring and peer support group work.
