Who we are
Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health, through improving school food & food education.
We focus our efforts in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, where more than a third of children are entitled to free school meals, and diet-related disease is driving further inequality.
We support and train school kitchen teams to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible, alongside meaningful food education. We share learning and resources, aiming to inspire and enable others to follow our lead.
We’re backed by some of the biggest names in food and have ambitious targets to ensure every child has access to incredible school food and food education, setting them up for life with the skills and knowledge to feed themselves well.
About you and the role
As our Digital Manager, you will be the strategic anchor, quality guardian, and operational driving force behind our online presence. You will fully own the performance of our two primary websites: the main Chefs in Schools (CIS) platform and the complex, public-facing School Food Project (SFP) national resource and coalition hub. You will be directly accountable for driving traffic, mastering SEO, maintaining exceptional content quality, and ensuring a seamless, highly secure user experience against clear, measurable targets.
This is a leadership role that bridges technical execution and creative strategy. You will act as the crucial, confident link between our external technical agencies (who build and maintain the infrastructure of the sites) and our internal content creators and programme teams. Crucially, you will be an empowering manager, leading a dedicated digital sub-team of 1-2 direct reports, supporting them to manage day-to-day content workflows, e-learning administration, and community moderation.
We are looking for someone solutions-focused, collaborative, and deeply analytical who takes pride in helping a high-profile, mission-driven organization run at its absolute best.
Key responsibilities:
1. Website Ownership & Performance Management
Own the overarching strategy and performance of our two flagship websites (CIS and SFP), optimizing UX and UI for user journeys, design, and maximum accessibility standards across both sites.
Own and maintain a forward-looking, prioritized digital platform roadmap, striking a strategic balance between long-term feature development and agile, day-to-day reactive requests
Ensure both platforms—particularly the highly visible, national School Food Project website—maintain the highest standards of data security, uptime, quality assurance, and accessibility, proactively managing risks associated with public scrutiny.
Take end-to-end ownership of web analytics and data integrity—from configuring custom event tracking to reporting on performance—utilizing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for quantitative metrics and Microsoft Clarity for behavioral insights.
Set, monitor, and report against clear performance targets spanning web traffic, user engagement, resource downloads, and search rankings.
Lead content and platform feature reviews through a risk mitigation lens—ensuring strict compliance with safeguarding, privacy, and coalition guidelines—while running targeted A/B tests to optimize user experience.
Lead on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy to maximize organic reach and connect school leaders, chefs, and partners to our resources.
Establish and manage digital incident response protocols, defining clear workflows for first responders, triage steps, and escalation pathways in the event of site outages, technical bugs, or security breaches.
2. Agency & Supplier Management
Act as the primary, confident technical interface with our external web development agencies and tech suppliers, holding them accountable to high-quality delivery.
Translate internal program, comms, and membership goals into clear technical design briefs, managing timelines and tracking project budgets.
Coordinate rigorous testing of new features, bug logging, and site maintenance to guarantee absolute platform stability before public deployments.
3. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Line manage, mentor, and support 1-2 direct reports (including roles focused on systems, community moderation, and resource uploads).
Work closely with the Communications team, External Relations team and Programme Leads to align digital development with broader organization campaigns and resource rollouts.
Oversee the content calendar and governance for both sites, ensuring all published assets strictly adhere to brand tone of voice and quality standards, working closely with the senior social media officer, engagement team to ensure cross org planning .
4. Data, CRM & Systems Integration
Oversee the data integrity and smooth technical flow between our website frontends, e-learning platform (LMS), and internal CRM systems.
Ensure all digital systems, data tracking, user permissions, and marketing platforms comply fully with GDPR and organizational data protection policies.
Construct and present scannable dashboards and reports (using Google Analytics and CRM data) for the Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders to demonstrate impact.
Essential Skills and Experience
Digital Product & Platform Leadership: Proven experience managing digital products, websites, or online platforms—ideally at a Manager level within a charity, agency, or fast-paced setting.
Complex Systems Integration: Strong confidence managing (or partnering with a technical agency to manage) integrated digital environments where the CMS, CRM, and LMS operate as a unified platform. You must be comfortable understanding and troubleshooting multi-layered user access permissions (e.g., tailored journeys for different school types and member tiers).
Foundational literacy in HTML and CSS to troubleshoot layout issues, understand site structure, and effectively translate technical requirements to developers.
Agency & Project Management: Confident experience collaborating with, briefing, and managing external technical partners, developers, or freelance technical staff to deliver complex features on time and on budget.
People Management: Demonstrable experience managing, mentoring, and developing direct reports, fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment.
Data Fluency & Quality Control: Ability to analyze, clean, and visualize data (using Google Analytics, CRM reporting, or spreadsheets) to monitor site performance, ensure data integrity across system integrations, and drive user experience improvements.
Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex "technical speak" for non-expert internal staff, write brand-aligned content, and build strong cross-team relationships.

This role combines direct energy advice for residents with day-to-day team leadership. It would suit an experienced advisor who is ready to take on additional responsibility, support colleagues and help maintain high standards across Selce’s award winning energy advice services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, compassionate community professional who wants to help households reduce energy costs, improve comfort at home and build resilience during a challenging time for many residents. Trusted, face-to-face advice in people’s homes is central to the role, particularly for households at risk of fuel poverty who may need impartial support to access the help available to them.
As an experienced Home Energy Advisor, you will carry out home visits across Greenwich, Lewisham, Bromley and Bexley, as well as providing advice by telephone and at community events. You will tailor practical support to each household, helping residents use energy more efficiently, reduce bills where possible, and keep their homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
You will be a confident communicator and empathetic listener, able to understand the specific challenges faced by vulnerable households and respond with clear, positive and practical solutions.
Alongside advice, you will help residents install simple energy-saving measures such as LED bulbs, draught excluders and radiator reflectors. You will also signpost households to wider support, including funded retrofit measures, financial and debt advice, and health and wellbeing services.
This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive and motivated by making a tangible difference to local people. You will be comfortable working independently in residents’ homes, collaborating with colleagues and partners, and contributing to a community-led organisation committed to a fairer, greener future.
Alongside your direct advice work, you will act as Team Lead and mentor for Selce’s team of energy advisors, helping colleagues feel supported, confident and equipped to deliver effective services.
As Advice Team Lead, you will help ensure our advice services are delivered to a consistently high standard. You will help coordinate, motivate and support staff to deliver quality services and achieve agreed targets and objectives.
Experience of people management is desirable, but the role may also appeal to an experienced energy advisor with strong technical knowledge who is looking to develop supervisory skills and support holistic service delivery across related advice areas.
Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, along with a solution-focused approach and an understanding of how to motivate individuals to succeed. You will bring a positive, collaborative approach to leading a team and working with others to achieve wider organisational goals.
The Role:
· Provide clear, practical and impartial energy advice to residents, tailored to their individual circumstances, through home visits, telephone support and outreach events.
· Deliver home energy support to vulnerable residents, including low-income households, older people, disabled people and families with young children.
· Use initiative and sound judgement to identify residents’ energy-related challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.

· Support householders to access additional help, including funded retrofit measures, financial and debt advice, health and wellbeing services, and other relevant support.
· Advocate for householders with energy suppliers where appropriate, helping residents to resolve issues, reduce costs and access available support.
· Recognise safeguarding concerns and follow organisational safeguarding procedures, escalating concerns appropriately.
· Handle sensitive personal data safely and confidentially in line with organisational data protection policies and procedures.
· Complete accurate records of all resident engagement, support provided and outcomes achieved using the appropriate systems.
· Manage a diary of appointments, visits, meetings and outreach activity, ensuring visits and calls remain focused while demonstrating empathy and understanding.
· Work effectively with Selce colleagues, partner organisations and community groups to deliver joined-up support for residents.
· Act as Team Lead for Selce’s energy advice team, providing day-to-day guidance, encouragement and practical support to advisors.
· Support advisors to manage caseloads, prioritise work appropriately and deliver timely, high-quality support to residents.
· Provide mentoring, coaching and informal supervision to energy advisors, helping colleagues develop confidence, knowledge and good practice.
· Monitor service quality, casework standards and resident outcomes, identifying improvements and sharing learning across the team.
· Contribute to planning, reporting and performance monitoring for funded projects and wider advice work, helping the team meet agreed targets and objectives.
· Support induction and training for new advisors, including sharing technical knowledge, service procedures and safeguarding expectations.
· Work closely with the Operations Manager to escalate risks, resolve operational issues and support continuous improvement.
· Develop and maintain relationships with local partners to support regular referrals into the project.
· Maintain awareness of wider local support networks and make appropriate referrals to services that can assist residents with their wider needs.
· Monitor and maintain stock levels of materials, tools and equipment, ensuring they are used safely and kept in good order.
· Carry out administrative duties accurately and to a high standard, including data inputting, paperwork and reporting.
· Promote the project within the community, including through energy advice cafés, events and other outreach activity.
· Work towards agreed goals and targets with a minimum of supervision, while contributing actively to the wider team.
· Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly, respectful and positive approach with all clients and partners.
· Comply with all organisational policies, procedures and systems, and actively promote a positive image of Selce.

About South East London Community Energy
South East London Community Energy (Selce) was born in 2014, when a group of people living in Greenwich & Lewisham became so concerned about climate change that they decided to come up with a formula that would help to create a clean and just energy future.
Throughout our first ten-years, we have set up projects that address inequality and seek to reduce our collective carbon footprint at different points in the energy systems.
To date we have built 12 solar arrays on community buildings in SE London and 11 buildings’ lighting systems to be more energy efficient. We are opening share offers this year for further lighting system upgrades and solar arrays on community buildings.
We’ve helped well over 4000 house holds with their energy bills and we are pleased to now be able to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient through the Love Lofts and Future Fit Homes pilot programmes.

About us
Carers UK’s vision is to create a society that recognises, values and supports carers. As the leading national charity for unpaid carers, we exist to make life better for carers, however caring affects them. Our support, advice, information and campaigning work are now needed more than ever, as unpaid carers are providing more and more care, adversely impacting on their own health and wellbeing.
About the role
We recognise the value of social media in communicating with all our audiences; whether unpaid carers or their friends and families, employers, politicians, service providers, supporters and all those people who may become a carer for a partner, family member, friend or neighbour and will need information, support, and to know that there are people working to make their lives better.
This role works with colleagues across the organisation, including our senior management team - but also in partnership with external organisations and agencies - with targets set for engagement (and other indicators of the success of our campaigns). We're working on multiple campaigns simultaneously; whether that's Carers Week, campaigns to influence changes to the law to better support carers, encouraging unpaid carers to join us as members, updating on activities in the devolved nations or getting people to fundraise for Carers UK. And we use a mix of owned, earned and paid communications to drive engagement in a challenging and crowded environment in order to get our messages to cut through. It's a busy, but varied role, in a supportive and collaborative team.
About you
Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.
You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.
You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. Plus you'll have a great eye for detail and be confident in your ability to prioritise (and sometimes reprioritise) your workload as needed.
We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

Carers UK is committed to becoming a diverse and truly inclusive organisation; fostering an environment and working culture that celebrates and promotes diversity and inclusion. We strive to create a workplace where our colleagues and volunteers can truly be themselves and feel like they belong and constantly seek to ensure all voices are heard.
To embrace this culture of diversity, our employee and volunteer recruitment should reflect our stakeholders and the society that we serve and support, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, physical abilities, disabilities or religious practices. We value individual diversity and are actively building diverse teams here at Carers UK and value our colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds.
As a membership charity for carers, we particularly seek employees and volunteers with a real understanding of the issues faced by carers. Reasonable adjustments can be made to the process and role, dependent on the needs of the applicant.
We are proud to be an Employers for Carers member. We have signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge and achieved the Disability Confident Employer accreditation. We aim to offer interviews to those who have a disability covered under the definition outlined in the Equality Act 2010 and who meet the minimum criteria for the role. The minimum criteria can be found under the Essential section of the Person Specification of the recruitment pack.
