DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic communications 

• Lead the development, implementation, and management of MAP’s strategic communications and support public engagement initiatives. 

• Oversee the organisation’s language and messaging frameworks, including the maintenance of the language guide and key messaging documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with MAP’s mission and communications objectives. 

• Develop, implement and manage integrated, cross channel communications plans and strategies.

• Bring a prospector’s mindset, spotting openings, anticipating debate moments and positioning MAP ahead of the curve rather than reacting to events. 

• Support the organisation in contributing to crisis communications planning and responding to mitigate reputational risks. 

Media management  

• Lead on the development and delivery of high-impact content to raise MAP’s profile and influence, and to drive public and supporter engagement. 

• Actively seek out and develop opportunities for MAP to shape public, political and sector debates, including through opinion pieces, broadcast opportunities, podcasts, industry and specialist media, conferences and high-level events. 

• Manage MAP’s Senior Media and Communications Officer, fostering professional growth, confidence and judgement. Conduct regular one to ones, appraisals, and support their work.

• Manage the production, review and sign off of all media materials including press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, media updates, and other external communications content where necessary. Ensure efficient delegation where required. 

• Lead media engagement, including briefing spokespeople and coordinating MAP’s responses to media inquiries, ensuring delegation where required.

• Provide high-quality briefing, messaging development, and media preparation for senior staff engaging externally. 

• Maintain and build strong, trusted relationships with journalists and editors across UK and international media. 

• Alert MAP’s staff to imminent news and current affairs stories, and recommend communications actions or restraint as appropriate. 

Advocacy and campaigns communications 

• Develop strategic communications plans for MAP’s advocacy and campaigning initiatives (such as, party conferences, parliamentary and UN engagement), identifying media opportunities, and ensuring key messaging is aligned with advocacy objectives and reaches targeted audiences. 

• Work closely with MAP’s Advocacy and Campaigns Team to amplify campaign impact through coordinated media and supporter-facing communications. 

• Strengthen MAP’s role in advocacy coalitions by leading collaborative media and communications outputs with partners. 

• Help ensure that communities MAP supports have a voice in campaigns, that their perspectives shape messaging and that communications do not expose staff, partners or communities to undue risk. 

• Advise on the strategic communication opportunities to profile and disseminate policy and research outputs.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Experience and knowledge 

• Substantial, relevant and recent experience of communications at a national and/or international level within humanitarian, healthcare or human rights organisations. 

• Strong track record of developing and implementing communications strategies to achieve advocacy and fundraising objectives. 

• Experience in overseeing organisational language and messaging frameworks in politically sensitive contexts. 

• Strong experience in media relations, including briefing spokespeople, drafting press releases, reactive and proactive media handling, and securing media coverage. 

• Understanding of digital communications and campaign tools (e.g., petitions, email campaigns) and audience engagement strategies. 

• Experience working with fundraising/marketing teams, consultants and agencies. 

• Strong understanding of political risk, reputational management and crisis communications.

Job Title: Finance Officer

Reports to: Financial Controller

 The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) is a membership organisation and the voice of the profession, with over 4,500 members in the UK and overseas. Our role is to champion the specialty, set standards of training and practice, and influence change to make a difference to the lives of patients with eye conditions.  

 Job Purpose

You’ll support the day-to-day running of the charity’s finance function—ensuring income and expenditure are processed accurately, reconciliations are completed on time, strong controls are maintained, and colleagues receive responsive support. You’ll also act as the key finance contact for payroll administration delivered via an external provider (providing inputs, checking outputs, and ensuring accurate postings into Xero).

Key responsibilities

1) Accounts payable (supplier invoices & payments)

• Process supplier invoices end-to-end: query resolution, correct coding (including VAT), approvals, posting to Xero, and maintaining an audit trail.
• Prepare and run supplier payment batches in line with controls and delegated authorities.
• Maintain supplier records and support efficient, professional supplier query handling.

2) Expenses & corporate cards (Payhawk) and posting to Xero

• Administer Payhawk expenses and card transactions: ensure receipts are submitted, policy rules are followed, and transactions are coded accurately.
• Configure and maintain Payhawk mappings (chart of accounts, VAT rates, tracking categories) to support clean exports into Xero.
• Export approved expenses/payments to Xero and support reconciliation between Payhawk activity, Xero postings, and bank/feeds.

3) Income processing and reconciliations (including donations)

• Raise sales invoices (where required), allocate receipts, and support routine credit control as appropriate.
• Reconcile income from bank, donation platforms, and other sources; ensure accurate allocation to the correct funds/projects (including restricted funding where relevant).
• Support Gift Aid record-keeping and processes (where applicable).

4) Payroll support (external payroll provider)

• Act as the key liaison with the external payroll provider to deliver monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Collate and submit monthly inputs by agreed cut-offs (e.g., starters/leavers, salary changes, contractual changes, statutory leave, pension changes and other agreed adjustments).
• Review payroll reports for accuracy and reasonableness (e.g., gross-to-net checks, variance checks vs prior month, starters/leavers reflected correctly).
• Coordinate payroll approvals internally and confirm release of payroll payments in line with controls.
• Ensure payroll-related payments (e.g., pensions and statutory deductions as applicable) are scheduled/processed accurately and on time.
• Post payroll journals into Xero, maintain supporting documentation, and reconcile payroll control accounts.
• Respond to staff payroll queries sensitively and confidentially, escalating complex items to the provider or Financial Controller as appropriate.

5) Month-end support & reporting

• Support month-end processes (journals, accruals/prepayments, reconciliations) and help produce routine finance reports (e.g., budget monitoring, cash, aged creditors/debtors).
• Assist with audit preparation and information requests; maintain clear documentation and controls.

6) Continuous improvement, controls and compliance

• Help improve finance processes (especially around expenses, coding consistency, and reconciliation routines).
• Contribute to maintaining robust financial controls and good practice across the organisation.

Person Specification

• Experience in a finance operations role covering transactional processing and reconciliations.
• Practical knowledge of Xero and confidence completing bank reconciliations and day-to-day postings.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel (comfortable with data checks and reconciliations).
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and sound judgement with confidential information.

Jangala is seeking an ambitious and strategic Fundraising Manager to sustain and grow our income from trusts, foundations and corporate partners. This is a hands-on role for an experienced fundraiser who enjoys translating complex work into compelling funding propositions and building strong relationships with supporters. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will lead on our trusts and foundations pipeline, manage key corporate partners, write high-quality funding applications and support the development of our stewardship and wider fundraising strategies.

This is initially a 6 month contract, with the aim of becoming permanent subject to funding. As Jangala is a growing organisation, you will also help shape fundraising tools/processes and there is potential for this role to evolve according to your skills, interests and development goals over time.

Key responsibilities will include:

Trusts & Foundations

• Leading a pipeline of UK and global trusts and foundations and other grantmakers, including researching and cultivating new opportunities, developing proposals, coordinating internal inputs and submitting high-quality bids

• Managing relationships with our current funders, with a focus on stewardship, reporting and renewals, ensuring accurate, timely and engaging updates on progress and impact

• Working with Head of Fundraising to review our current pipeline, refine our trusts and foundations strategy and identify our approach for priority opportunities, including National Lottery

• Developing and implementing a clear stewardship strategy for trusts and foundation funders

Corporate Partnerships

• Account managing key corporate partners to maintain strong relationships and identify opportunities to deepen engagement over time

• Leading on partnership planning, relationship management, partnership storytelling, impact reporting and, where relevant, corporate volunteering activities

Fundraising Strategy & Support

• Working with programme and technology teams to develop a strong understanding of Jangala’s work and translate this into compelling fundraising narratives

• Supporting the Head of Fundraising with pipeline management, forecasting and fundraising planning

• Maintaining accurate records in Jangala’s CRM and funder tracking systems

• Contributing to the development of fundraising materials, case studies and impact content

The person we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser who is confident writing funding applications and managing relationships, and who is motivated by Jangala’s mission and values. Role Mission. 

As part of a newly created Outreach squad focused on reaching and engaging with the bereaved military community, you will use digital marketing skills to help us develop a thriving online community. 

You’ll take full ownership of our day-to-day social media activity across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. From scheduling content and managing the calendar, to engaging with our audience and contributing to campaign ideas.You’ll also help deliver key marketing tasks that support outreach, engagement and growth, connecting families to the services we offer.

Social Media (Core Accountability) 

Planning & Scheduling 

• Own and manage the social media content calendar, ensuring consistent, relevant output aligned to Outreach priorities.

• Use insights to recommend improvements and help the Outreach Squad learn what content resonates. 

• Keep up to date with platform changes, trends, and best practice. 

Marketing Execution (Additional Responsibilities) 

Email Marketing 

• Own the creation, scheduling, and sending of regular email updates to bereaved families using agreed platforms. 

• Maintain email lists in line with data protection requirements and agreed segmentation. 

• Track basic performance metrics (open rates, click-throughs) and share insights with the Head of Outreach. 

Website Content Support 

• Upload and maintain marketing content on the website, including news articles, blogs, and impact updates. 

• Ensure content is accurate, on-brand, and correctly formatted. 

• Work with the Head of Outreach to ensure content is published in a timely and coordinated way. 

General Marketing Support 

• Support the delivery of wider marketing and outreach activity as required (e.g. campaign roll-outs, asset updates, coordination tasks).

• Independently running day-to-day social media activity maintaining consistency in quality, tone and frequency.

What You’ll Need to Succeed 

Must Have 

• Practical experience managing professional social media accounts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. 

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences and platforms. 

• Confidence using social media scheduling tools and basic design platforms such as Canva. 

• High emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism, particularly around sensitive topics such as bereavement. 

• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. 

• A genuine belief in Scotty’s mission and a commitment to representing the charity thoughtfully and responsibly online. 

Nice to Have 

• Experience uploading and managing content on a CMS (e.g. WordPress or similar). 

• Familiarity with interpreting basic performance data (social insights, email open and click-through rates) to inform improvements. 

• Experience of the UK military community. 

• An interest in community-building and using digital channels to create connection, not just visibility.

• Experience delivering or supporting email marketing campaigns, including writing copy and sending campaigns.

Our Second Home (OSH) is the UK’s youth movement for people with refugee backgrounds. We support young people to build community, become leaders, and flourish into adulthood in the place they call home.

Each year, hundreds of young people from dozens of countries and living in London & Bristol take part in our residential programmes, leadership training and youth hubs. Our residentials are often the first step – immersive, relationship-rich spaces where young people connect, reflect and begin to see themselves as leaders. From there, many move into leadership training and take on volunteer roles within the movement.

Our work is youth-led and rooted in lived experience. We are now implementing our 2025–2028 strategy, focused on strengthening quality, embedding learning and ensuring our growth is sustainable and safe.

The Head of Programmes is a senior leadership role, reporting to the CEO and managing two senior colleagues. You will hold responsibility for the quality, coherence and safeguarding of all programme activity.

Programme Leadership & Strategy in Practice

• Lead implementation of OSH’s 2025–2028 programme strategy.

As Community Project Coordinator, you will be part of a dedicated team overseeing the efficient day-to-day operation of our Pet Food Bank project and wider community-based initiatives. Working closely with the Community Project Lead, you will help deliver projects that improve the lives of people and pets, with dignity at the heart of everything we do. This includes supporting a national network of pet food banks and partners, increasing awareness of Blue Cross, and ensuring practical, compassionate support reaches pet owners in short term crisis.

More about the role

This is a home-based role within Oxfordshire, ideally located within one hour of our Burford offices, as you will be required to travel to Burford on a weekly basis to manage deliveries at our Warehouse. Due to the rural location and less frequent public transport, travelling by car is often the most practical option. While the role is home based, you will be contractually attached to the Burford site. Travel to Burford will therefore be treated as normal commuting and expenses will not be payable for travel to this site.

Working across a defined geographic region, you will support the development and smooth running of the Pet Food Bank project and other community initiatives. This will involve close collaboration with pet food banks, suppliers, local authorities, community groups and volunteers to ensure effective coordination, communication and logistics.

You will secure donations of pet food and services, oversee the movement of food and equipment, and regularly travel to food bank partners and other organisations. A key part of the role involves liaising with volunteers and colleagues by phone and in person, ensuring everyone is supported, informed and working together effectively.

Alongside core project delivery, you will support the planning, preparation and delivery of a large-scale summer event in June 2026, working in partnership with one of our corporate partners. This event will play an important role in expanding our outreach and support for pet owners in need. You will also provide essential administrative support, contribute to reporting, and help deliver a clear and effective communication plan to support project and event activity.

Occasional travel to other partner organisations or Blue Cross locations will be required. Travel to locations other than your attached Burford site will be claimable in line with Blue Cross expenses policy.

You will act as a positive ambassador for Blue Cross, ensure policies and procedures are followed, and support the Community Project Lead with income delivery and media activity where required.
