Zambia Orphans Aid UK (ZOA-UK) is looking for part-time volunteers to support our Digital & Communications work. The ideal candidates will have passion for all things digital and an interest in international development. We are seeking people who have good digital understanding, a flare for design and experience of creating social media content across a range of platforms.

You will possess a positive attitude together with a proactive approach to problem solving. You will be home-based and have the freedom to set your own hours, so self-motivation is essential.

Volunteers support ZOA-UK’s communications and digital activities to increase the reach, profile and influence of the charity and build our brand as a leading charity supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. The volunteers will support the small team to create a cohesive and effective approach to delivering our messages to target audiences, driving supporter engagement and donations, and raising awareness of the needs of orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia. 

Range of likely duties to include:

1. Write up case studies and stories of change and ensure they and accompanying photographs and video footage are stored securely in our image and case study database

2. Help build our social media activity to achieve measurable outcomes in terms of raising awareness, and increasing numbers of supporters who convert to become donors

3. Create and schedule inspiring content for social media channels – Instagram, facebook, X, linkedin, ticktock etc

4. Create blogs, infographics and other content for our wordpress website, supporter newsletters and annual report

About the Role

The HR Programme Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the HR Programme and managing the HR Liaison. Responsibilities

• Manage and show leadership to our Social media team
• Responsible for creating engaging content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
• Monitor social media channels for trends, feedback, and engagement opportunities.
• Help manage the scheduling and posting of content across all platforms.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop campaigns that align with our brand voice and objectives.
• Conduct research on industry trends and competitor activities to inform content strategies.
• Support the analysis of social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and suggest improvements.
• Host team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing our social media presence.
• Report to senior management

Requirements

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

JOB PURPOSE: We are seeking a passionate, creative, and community-driven Book Club Manager / Community Lead (Volunteer) to help build and grow a thought-provoking book club focused on awakening, education, critical thinking, and personal growth. This role involves developing the vision and structure of the book club, curating impactful reading materials, and creating a welcoming space where members can engage in meaningful discussions and self-reflection. The successful candidate will lead both online and offline sessions, organize engaging events, and foster a strong sense of community among members aged 16–35. The ideal volunteer is someone who enjoys bringing people together through ideas, conversations, and learning experiences, while encouraging intellectual curiosity and personal development.

About the role: The purpose of the Book Club Manager / Community Lead (Volunteer) role is to establish, manage, and grow an engaging and intellectually stimulating book club community that promotes education, awareness, personal development, and critical thinking. The role holder will be responsible for creating and implementing the club’s structure, coordinating discussions and events, curating impactful reading materials, and developing systems that enhance member participation and overall community experience. This position aims to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where members can explore new perspectives, challenge mainstream narratives, and build meaningful connections through shared learning and discussion.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Experience running or managing book clubs, discussion groups, or community programs is a plus, but passionate and motivated individuals are encouraged to apply.
Strong organizational and event management skills.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills for leading discussions.
Knowledge of tools and platforms for virtual book clubs (Zoom, Discord, social media, event management platforms, etc.).
Ability to research, source, and recommend books that challenge mainstream narratives and promote critical thinking.
Passion for personal growth, education and community development.
Ability to engage members aged 16–35 and fosters a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

Develop and establish the structure of the book club, including mission, themes, and long-term goals.
Schedule and organize regular book club sessions, both online and offline.
Manage and moderate discussions to ensure engaging, respectful, and thought-provoking conversations.
Source, curate, and recommend books aligned with the club’s mission of awakening, education, and self-reflection.
Create and host events such as webinars, author talks, workshops, or live discussions.
Promote the book club through social media, community networks, and other channels to grow membership.
Develop systems and processes to streamline operations, track member engagement, and improve overall club experience.
Mentor and guide members on critical thinking, awareness, and personal growth.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
