As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you!

It is a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

o face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.

o online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.

o bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

o engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

About Candlelighters 

Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. When a child is diagnosed, lives are turned upside down instantly: not just for the child but the entire family. Getting well again can be a long and challenging journey, emotionally, physically, and financially.

Supporting children and families throughout that journey is why our charity, Candlelighters, was formed more than 40 years ago. Our mission is to bring light to every family affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire by providing emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer. 

Purpose of the Role and Key Activities: 

Families who have been affected by children’s cancer(including patients, parents, siblings and grandparents) can come to The Square for a coffee and a chat, as well as book and access a variety of support services, including: 

• Wellbeing Services & Activities 

• Specialist 1:1 Support 

• Family Support Groups and Events 

As a Front of House Volunteer, you will support the Family Support Worker role and the rest of the Team at Candlelighters with a variety of tasks including (but not limited to): 

• Meeting and greeting families and other visitors 

• Making drinks for families and visitors

• Answering the telephone, transferring calls and taking messages 

• Making bookings and updating our database 

• Keeping the reception area clean and tidy 

• Keeping the kitchen, meeting rooms and other communal areas clean and tidy 

• Cleaning and maintaining the coffee machine 

• Setting up rooms for meetings and events 

• Assisting the Team with other tasks and activities as required 

• Maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to Candlelighters’ policies and procedures 

• Checking stock levels and dates in Champs Pantry 

• Re-stocking refreshments and drinks 

We are looking for volunteers who: 

• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

• Have experience of working in a customer service environment 

• Have excellent customer care skills

• Can communicate effectively with a variety of people 

• Are confident, friendly and approachable 

• Have a fun and positive outlook

• Are experienced in working as part of a team

This role is subject to an enhanced criminal record check, which is processed through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We recognise that family members accessing Candlelighters’ services may wish to volunteer with Candlelighters. However, this role is not suitable for family members receiving support from Candlelighters. Do you want to raise some money for Shelter, while having fun along the way?

Information about the role

This role involves supporting at a range of events to help raise money and awareness to tackle the housing emergency. It’s a really flexible opportunity. Once you’re signed up, we’ll let you know about upcoming events and tasks, and you can decide which you’d like to do.

Location: Sheffield

Suggested contribution: It’s up to you! Ideally, you’d help out at least 4-5 times per year, but this is flexible.

Availability: This is a varied opportunity with events taking place at different times and on different days throughout the year, including evenings and weekends. You can choose the events that best suit your availability.

This is a flexible and diverse role. Here are some of the activities you might get involved in:

• Represent us at a range of events including, community fairs, gigs, Pride marches, sporting events and street stalls.
• Support some of our fundraising activity such as holding collection cans in public spaces or bag packing in supermarkets.

This role fights the housing emergency by raising funds that enable Shelter to provide advice and support and campaigning for change. The events you’ll be attending are also great for raising awareness of the housing emergency and how people can get involved to help tackle it.

Become a Helpline, Text & Email Listening Volunteer in Bristol 

Sift has been supporting people affected by self-harm for 40 years. Our wonderful team of volunteers provide valuable, non-judgemental listening to a community that often faces stigma, misunderstanding and a lack of support. 

For this training, we're recruiting Bristol-based volunteers to work across our helpline, text and email services on our Monday and Thursday shifts. These volunteers work from our office, located in the city centre.

Our volunteer training course for this opportunity takes place online over Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026. Volunteers must attend all four dates to complete the training.

Every quarter, you’ll meet a group of your peers to discuss volunteering and have a safe and confidential space to reflect on the work. 

Who can volunteer? 

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and life experiences. You may have your own experiences of self-harm or mental health challenges or be keen to learn more about how to support others through these experiences. 

You don’t need previous listening or counselling experience, just an open mind, a commitment to the role, and a willingness to learn. 

We're looking for anyone who wants to offer meaningful support, and can listen with empathy and an understanding that everyone’s situation is unique. We're keen to recruit volunteers who are flexible, adaptable, and open to new learning experiences.

After you submit the form, we'll get in touch to arrange a chat if we feel you'd be the right fit for our services. We have limited training spaces available and may only be able to respond if your application is successful. Practical details: 

• An Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for this role, which will be paid for by Sift. 

• Volunteers train on and work across all three of our services: helpline, text and email.

• We ask that volunteers commit to a year on the service after completion of training. If you're looking for a shorter commitment, this may not be the role for you. 

• You must be available on the training dates mentioned above, and available for one evening shift per week on Mondays and/or Thursdays.

The Dementia Services supports people to live independently and safely at home for as long as possible, stay socially engaged and carry on doing what they love. The service supports Camden residents over the age of 55 in the early or moderate stages of dementia.

We offer clients from the Dementia Services (befriending and wellbeing) a short performance or creative activity delivered by a volunteer visual artist, musician, dancer, actor, performer, and other creative artforms. You may choose to share a creative hobby or an art form you practice professionally.

What does the role involve? 

·Share your creative talent or hobby with older people living with dementia by delivering a short performance to an older person at home or providing an opportunity for them to participate in a creative activity.

·Visit a minimum of 4 times per year for up to 1.5 hours each time, including 20/30 minutes for the performance/activity.

·Provide opportunities for connection with older people during your visit through conversation and engagement.

• Liaise with service coordinators to link with clients who have asked to receive these visits/calls.
• Provide feedback after every performance, including positive impact, improvements to the delivery of visits or concerns regarding the client.

What are the benefits for people living with dementia?

 Many of the clients we support in this service are housebound or do not have the confidence or opportunity to attend events. Some clients may be artists, performers and creatives in their own right who do not get an opportunity to engage with or experience this aspect of their lives anymore.

Giving people who are living with memory loss an opportunity to be part of creative activities is a stimulating, fun way of putting them in touch with memories, other people and the wider community.

Bringing your artform into peoples’ homes can have a huge impact on reducing isolation, encouraging connection and bring a sprinkle of joy to those living with dementia.

We are looking for people who have:

• An interest in sharing or performing their creative, artistic skill whether you are a hobbyist or a professional: 
• Singing

·Playing a musical instrument

·Visual art activity

·Poetry/acting

·Dancing

·Culture-specific art/music/dance/poetry

These are just a handful of examples, but we will consider applications from a variety of artists/musicians/ performers and are open to suggestions.

What other attributes do you need?

• Good verbal and written skills in English 

• Enjoy conversation.
• A desire to learn more about an individual and their interests and their past, and life history

• An ability to empathise and understand the needs and experiences of an individual with dementia and memory loss.

Volunteering Hours 

Performances/activities:Usually approx. 20 -30 minutes but 1-1.5hrs are assigned to the visit

 Minimum of 4 - 6 visits a year (you can opt to do more). 

Visits will be a time agreed between you and the older person you are matched with.

Please note, early morning and late evenings are generally not suitable times for visits. 

Training and induction are provided for the role and includes: 

• Online Dementia Awareness course 
• Age UK Camden organisational induction 
• Induction to Dementia Befriending and Dementia Wellbeing Services and relationships, how to deliver a performer visit
• Safeguarding Adults online course
• Data Awareness online course

We will give you:

• Ongoing support including regular supervision by the coordinator of the service.
• Reimbursement of agreed expenses 
• Access to Volunteer Forum events

 If you are interested, we will ask you to: 

• Complete an application form

• Meet with Dementia Services staff member
• Provide details of two Referees
• Complete an Enhanced DBS check (we arrange this with you)
• Induction and training (as laid out above)

We understand that completing the various steps takes time, and we support and keep in touch with you through the process. 

As this role brings our volunteers into regular contact with vulnerable older people, we make sure that all volunteers understand their role and have completed our recruitment procedures to both our and their satisfaction.

Business Launchpad (BLP) is an enterprise charity based in Tooting, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. We support young people aged 18 to 30 to start and grow their own businesses, access employment, and build skills for economic independence.

Our core programmes are:

• Pathways, our flagship 12-week enterprise cohort programme, guiding young people from idea to early-stage business.

• Business Lab, a 6-week pipeline programme for young people exploring enterprise as a route forward.

• Career Connect, our annual employability fair connecting young people with employers and opportunities.

About this Volunteer role:

Location: Tooting Works, Tooting, London SW17

Duration: Minimum 4 weeks, up to 12 weeks (flexible by arrangement)

Hours: Part-time or full-time by arrangement

This role sits within our Programmes and Delivery team. You will work alongside our Programme Coordinator on the recruitment, onboarding and administrative tasks that keep our programmes running day to day.

It is a practical role with real responsibility. You will see how a charity programme team works from the inside, including how we bring young people onto our programmes, track their progress and stay in contact with partners and referrers.

What You Will do:

Recruitment and Participant Outreach:

• Support recruitment campaigns for Pathways and Business Lab across digital channels.

• Help manage the enquiries inbox and respond to initial expressions of interest.

Onboarding and Administration:

• Help prepare and send out welcome packs, joining instructions and programme information.

• Assist with collecting participant documents, consent forms and eligibility evidence.

• Help communicate session timetables and any changes to participants.

Programme Administration:

• Help prepare session materials, including printing, digital uploads and room or resource coordination.

• Maintain recruitment progress tracking spreadsheets.

• Assist with gathering participant feedback to support our monitoring and evaluation.

Communications Support:

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the programme team, including sending emails, texts messages and making phone calls with programme participants.

• Follow up new leads for programme interest and support with discovery chat bookings and follow ups.

What We Are Looking For:

You do not need previous charity experience. We are looking for someone reliable and well organised who genuinely wants to support young people. We will give you the training and supervision you need to do the role well.

Essential

• Some experience or interest in the charity, education or public sector.

• Experience supporting events, recruitment or communications work.

• Some knowledge of the challenges young people face in finding work or starting a business.

• First-hand experience of how a funded charity programme is planned, recruited and delivered.

• Practical experience using a CRM system (Salesforce) and a Learning Management System.

• Stronger skills in participant communications, data management and programme administration.

• A good working knowledge of the youth enterprise and employability sector in London.

• A reference from Business Launchpad on completion.

• Access to the BLP alumni network and future opportunities where relevant.

Volunteering Arrangements

The placement is based at Tooting Works in South London. Some tasks may be done remotely, depending on the stage of the programme cycle, and this can be agreed with your line manager.

We ask volunteers to commit to their agreed hours and to give notice if they cannot attend. We will agree a schedule at the start that works for both of us.
