Chair of Trustees role:
You will be chairing the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we have minimum representation required for decisions to be made, keeping the board aligned in decision-making, ensuring all minutes are recorded and that all decisions by trustees are made with the appropriate context provided.
This is a great opportunity to develop further governance skills and experience, and help steer an important charity in the right direction.
Trustees meetings are usually held every six weeks, plus there is an AGM, away days, and any sub-committee meetings that trustees may be involved in. Most meetings will remain virtual but there will from time to time be a need to attend key meetings and events in Nottingham. The time commitment is approximately 4hours per month, but there may be occasions when more time is required for a short period.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous chairing experience
- Relevant experience in any of the following financial management, HR, charities, fundraising, social prescribing, NHS, local authorities, marketing, business development, governance, strategy or legal
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
- Good, independent judgement
- The ability to challenge and ask questions
- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

CHASE Africa is a UK-based international NGO that supports local partners in East Africa to improve health and wellbeing in marginalised rural communities. Your role will be vital in helping us achieve our future goals.
The Role
- Liaise with CEO and Trustees to ensure the financial viability of the organisation’s strategy
- Advise on the financial implications of CA’s strategic plan (3 year)
- Present CA’s financial position and broader context at Trustees Board meetings
- Support the finance manager with the production of an annual budget
- Ensure that the Board is aware of its financial duties and responsibilities and the need to comply with all legislation
- Take a lead in interpreting financial data for fellow Board members
- Ensure that all financial policies, procedures and the appointment of external financial advisors are reviewed on a regular basis
- Ensure relevant financial policies are in place as required by the charity commission
- Be willing to be available to support the charity’s CEO and Senior Finance Manager as needed
- Review the monthly management accounts report and cashflow with the CEO and finance manager
- Liaise with senior staff to ensure financial reports are user friendly for non-finance trustees
About You
- Good background in financial management and analysis
- Able to communicate financial information clearly and to people with different levels of financial and data literacy.
- Knowledge and experience of finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Have an excellent ability to interpret financial information and the confidence to raise questions and challenge
- Have a good understanding of, or be willing to learn, the rules and regulation around charity finance
- Have the ability to think creatively and strategically, exercising good and impartial judgement
- Knowledge of current accounting processes, tools and procedures
- High proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint for analysis and presentation
- Understands and accepts the legal duties, liabilities and responsibilities of Trustees, and the difference between governance functions and management functions
- High level of integrity and sound judgement
- Commitment to CA’s vision, purpose and culture and its way of working
- Able and willing to devote the necessary time to the role
Additional Desirable
- CCAB/CIMA qualified professional or qualified by experience in financial management
- Awareness and understanding of the campaigning world and the health community in developing countries.

At Release Therapy for Women, our mission is to ensure every woman in Sussex has access to high-quality therapeutic support. The Community Outreach & Inclusion Ambassador acts as a vital "bridge" between our charity and the local community. This is an active, relationship-focused role. * Removing Barriers: Briefly chat with potential participants to help diffuse any initial anxiety about "joining a group," explaining the supportive nature of our sessions.

This role would be in the SHPS Refugee Integration and Housing Team in Brent. The volunteer would support Refugee Housing Coaches to ensure clients are achieving their integration goals by meeting with them in person at the Crisis Skylight Brent (CSB) to review their Integration Support Plan (developed with their Coach), and connecting them with relevant community organizations and opportunities.
What will I be doing?
After clients are supported by Coaches to secure move-on accommodation from the asylum hotels in Wembley, they will be supported by the SHPS Refugee Service for an additional 8 months to sustain their accommodation and focus on their integration goals. The volunteer would help clients to achieve their goals by developing a comprehensive understanding of local services and opportunities i.e finding local ESOL classes, employment support, befriending opportunities, health and leisure activities and much more. The role will involve both mapping local integration opportunities and working 1:1 with clients at CSB to develop their integration plan and signpost/refer accordingly. The volunteer will then liaise with Coaches to update on the integration work completed with clients, and to share key learnings re local services/opportunities.

- Is able to communicate well with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including those who have a range of needs (for example mental health and substance misuse) and who may have English as a second language

- Has a good level of IT literacy as you will need to update member records and support members with understanding websites, email Lead Workers and carry out research

What do I need to do this role?

The role of a Non-Trustee Grants Committee Member
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Richmond Foundation team to participate in important decisions around awarding funding and to influence policy and strategic direction.
Terms of appointment
Appointments will be for a two-year term, with the possibility of renewing for an additional two-year term.
You will need to:
- Uphold Richmond Foundation’s vision, mission, objectives, and values
- Attend at least four Grants Committee meetings per year at our central Richmond location (1.5 hours from 5:00pm to 6:30pm)
- Prepare for meetings by reading all relevant documentation and reviewing minutes
- Attend relevant training and at least one event/visit hosted by a grant-funded organisation each year
- Attend our annual AGM meeting in November
Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic direction and expert guidance on our developing grants portfolio

SUMMARY OF ROLE

Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is a local charity formed in March 2017. We are a small and growing charity, whose volunteers and supporters have come together to welcome and help support the refugees who have fled the fighting and persecution in Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine, and are now resettling in our community.
Starting with just one refugee family, we have expanded our efforts over the years and are proud to have supported about 50 families as they settle and rebuild their lives in our community.
Purpose of Role:
Would you like to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of refugee families as they settle into life in Britain—supporting them to achieve independence and integrate confidently into their new communities?
As a member of the SWR Voluntary Leadership Team (VLT), you will contribute to the effective delivery of core services for refugees and help support and coordinate our valued volunteers.
Our work spans general support with settling in, integration, building independence, language learning, educational guidance, and assistance in accessing suitable employment. In this role, you’ll work closely with other VLT members, with a particular focus on the general support function, collaborating with volunteer teams and ensuring they are well-informed, resourced, and confident in providing person-centred support.

Key Responsibilities:
● Support communication between lead volunteers and central SWR services to help source equipment or assistance for families.

● Assist in developing and tracking Path to Independence Plans for families.

Key Responsibilities: ● Where the family is new, help them to settle in and pass on requests for help and equipment. ● See over the welfare and requirements of the family which will change incrementally over time. The level of support should gradually diminish as the family becomes more independent. ● Liaise with local government support workers (Refugee Council) as needed while the family is still receiving support from them. ● Liaise with the team around the family - general support, language and education - so that they work together; moderate a Whatsapp group for all volunteers supporting the family, whatever their role. ● Encourage and monitor the family’s path to independence ● Liaise with Education, Language and Employment specialities.
● Keep the Volunteer Leadership Team (VLT) Family Support Lead up to date as needed.

Support & Training Provided As well as general training for SWR volunteers on the essentials such as safeguarding and cultural awareness, we run workshops to find out more about how we can help children in their path through education, language learning and other matters that may be relevant. The VLT will ensure that the Family Liaison has support and backup as required and a mentor will be appointed to help a new Family Liaison in the initial stages of taking up the role.
