As we approach our 40th year, we're developing an ambitious five-year strategy to strengthen our impact, grow our supporter base and build long-term financial sustainability. This new trustee will play an important role in helping us achieve those ambitions.

You don't need previous trustee experience—we welcome applications from first-time trustees as well as those with Board experience. What's most important is that you can bring strategic thinking, good judgement and a collaborative approach.

We're particularly interested in people with experience in one or more of the following:

• Developing or leading fundraising strategy

This voluntary role is an opportunity to use your expertise to help shape the future of a life-saving charity. A bit more information about this role and the team

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone who enjoys being part of local community events and wants to make a meaningful difference for cats across the South West. As a fundraising events helper, you will support a range of enjoyable activities such as craft fairs, coffee mornings, quiz nights, county shows and supermarket collections. Your support at these events helps raise the vital funds needed to care for cats and kittens in need.

Every event you take part in truly makes a difference. Even small amounts go a long way. Just £5 can feed a cat in our care for 25 days, helping us provide the food, warmth and comfort they rely on.

You do not need previous experience. All you need is a friendly attitude, a willingness to get involved and an interest in helping cats. Whether you prefer setting up stalls, chatting to members of the public or supporting activities throughout the day, there is a place for you on the team. Any time you can give will help us continue our work and support cats who need it most.

This role is very flexible. You can choose to volunteer at a single event for a couple of hours or join multiple events throughout the year. We will keep you updated with upcoming opportunities so you can choose what suits you best.

Wherever you are based in the South West, you will have full support from your fellow volunteers and the Fundraising Hub team. They are always available to offer guidance, resources and encouragement.

 About African Child Trust (ACT)

ACT is a growing international development charity with a Christian ethos, dedicated to educating disadvantaged children and empowering widows in sub-Saharan Africa. Since 1998, we’ve supported children from primary school through to university and equipped widows with income-generating skills to sustain their families. At Women for Refugee Women, we support refugee and asylum-seeking women who have fled persecution to rebuild their lives on their own terms.

We have an overarching vision that women who come to the UK in search of safety experience a fair and compassionate asylum system and are supported to feel free, welcome and able to rebuild their lives. We currently work in three main areas:  

Power: To support women who have sought asylum to reclaim their power through opportunities to develop new and existing skills, access information and advice, and build confidence and connections. 

Influence: To amplify the voices of women who have sought asylum to wide audiences through research, events, creative projects, the arts, social media, print and digital media and other means of communication.

Role Description 

Time commitment 

• 2-hour quarterly Board meetings - plus pre-reading of Board papers.

• Annual strategy planning meeting (full day).

• 1.5-hour quarterly Finance & HR Committee meetings - plus pre-reading of papers

About The Stray Cat Charity (TSCC)

The Stray Cat Charity is a newly established UK-registered CIO working to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray cats in Greece, starting in Patras. Our current priority campaign is to raise £35,000 to build a dedicated stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece, which will provide safe housing, veterinary care, and a pathway to adoption for vulnerable cats. As a growing new charity, we are building our fundraising and outreach network across the UK.

We are looking for a motivated volunteer to support the growth of our charity by helping identify and connect with potential supporters in their local area. This includes community groups, schools, corporates, and potential major donors who may be interested in supporting or fundraising for stray cats in Greece. The aim of this role is to help generate awareness, build relationships, and support fundraising activity for our current and future campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

The volunteer may support with:

• Researching local community groups, schools, faith groups, and businesses
• Identifying potential corporate partners and supporters in their region
• Contacting organisations to introduce The Stray Cat Charity and its mission
• Encouraging groups to support the charity through donations or fundraising
• Promoting our current campaign to raise £35,000 for a stray cat shelter in Patras, Greece
• Supporting or initiating community fundraising activities where appropriate (e.g. sponsored events, school fundraisers, awareness campaigns)
• Helping to raise awareness of stray cat welfare issues in Greece through local outreach

Fundraising Options

Volunteers may either:

• Focus on outreach and relationship-building, or
• Actively support or lead local fundraising efforts for the charity’s campaigns

The Role

As our Volunteer Fundraising & Partnerships Officer, you will play a key role in helping us secure the funding needed to expand our impact.

You will have the opportunity to develop and implement creative fundraising ideas while building meaningful relationships with businesses, community groups, and individual supporters.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop innovative fundraising campaigns and ideas.
• Identify new fundraising opportunities and income streams.
• Approach local and national businesses for sponsorship and corporate donations.
• Build relationships with corporate partners and community organisations.
• Research charitable trusts, foundations, and grant opportunities.
• Support online fundraising campaigns and digital donation initiatives.
• Promote fundraising activities through social media and online platforms.
• Help organise fundraising events and community initiatives.
• Encourage regular giving and supporter engagement.
• Work alongside the charity's leadership team to develop long-term fundraising strategies.

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Is passionate about supporting disadvantaged young people.
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Is creative, proactive, and full of ideas.
• Enjoys networking and engaging with businesses and communities.
• Can work independently and take initiative.
• Has an interest in fundraising, sales, business development, marketing, or partnerships (experience is welcome but not essential).
• Is confident using email, social media, and online research tools.
