Grants from charitable trusts and foundations are an essential source of funding for community organisations working with deaf children, young people and their families. This support allows communities to develop work that meets the needs of deaf children and young people. With your knowledge of grants and persuasive writing skills, you’ll help support communities to research and submit life-changing funding bids.

About you

What you will do

• Support community groups and organisations to identify and win new sources of funding

• Research trusts and foundations (both locally and nationally) that may support work in communities

• Prepare information about funders including deadlines and criteria for applications

• Develop links with funders and share information

• Work with organisations to write compelling applications that meet the required conditions

• Understand the boundaries of the role and ask for support where appropriate

RSPCA Finchley, Golders Green, Hendon & District Branch

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual who can devote their time to volunteering with us as a Volunteer Coordinator, helping specifically to recruit, train and retain volunteers across the branch.

This role focuses on building and strengthening the branch’s volunteer base, enabling us to deliver vital local animal welfare services while ensuring our charity shops operate efficiently and effectively.

Be part of an unforgettable day of adventure, achievement and community spirit at Slieve Donard. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support and cheer on participants taking part in the Slieve Donard Trek a fully guided 11km hike climbing 840 metres over 5–8 hours.

Our participants will push themselves all the way to the summit of Northern Ireland’s highest mountain and we are asking you to help support us on the day.

Your role will include either helping set up and wish walkers good luck as they head off on their journey on the morning slot Or welcoming trekkers back down the mountain, congratulating them on their incredible achievement and helping to create a warm, supportive and uplifting atmosphere at the finish area in the afternoon slot.

The Branch Chair role is vital to the running of the branch as they act as a leader and a coordinator for the branch. Without these roles, we would not have as many branches as we do.

• Planning, arranging, and chairing committee meetings and public meetings.

• Delegating tasks to other committee members or volunteers

• Keeping your Senior Branch Engagement Officer informed about branch activities and events
• Overseeing the moderation of the branch online support group / forum
• Liaising with newsletter editor on contents and production of bi-monthly newsletter

CHAS runs a number of charity shops locally, selling donated stock as well as new goods to raise the vital funds required to care for children and their families. You will be volunteering within our busy retail team, assisting with important stock room management tasks, the day to day running of the shop floor and providing excellent customer service.

By selling goods in the shops you are directly raising the funds that enable us to support children with a life-shortening condition and their families.

You can volunteer Monday to Sunday, in the morning or afternoon. Shifts usually last for four hours, but this can be flexible. This can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and even on a bank basis.

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop
Our Holywood, Belfast Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Punk Against Poverty are looking for new stars to join our team of volunteers. Our mission is to break the poverty cycle and change local peoples lives for the better, but to do that we need your help!

To raise the money we need to make change we rely on our shops and we are currently looking for Sales Assistants to join our team in St Marychurch, Torquay.

Experience in retail is not necessary as full training and support is provided.

Role summary

To work as part of a busy team, assisting the Donation Centre team to maximise income by supporting Drivers on deliveries and collections in the shops and some processing of stock. This role requires a level of fitness. 

Main duties of the role

• Accompany Drivers on deliveries and support with moving of cages and stock to and from the shops

• Assist in the shops with moving of stock and removal of unwanted items

• To act as Banksman when the drivers when moving vehicles in tight areas, to ensure that the vehicle is moved safely

• If required help with the sorting and assigning of donations to shops

• Be aware of and adhere to health & safety regulations at all times

Training & supervision

• Health and safety training is mandatory (repeated annually), some of which is online

• Training on site at Donation Centre for handling of stock and cages.

• Banksman training will be given

Experience & qualifications required

• Some customer services/warehouse environment experience would be advantageous

• Must have good communications skills to be able to explain trading standards regulations in a professional and polite manner when goods cannot be accepted

• Experience of having worked in similar role 

Supporting our events has something for everyone! With roles based at our community events and mass participation events there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in a fun, memorable event experience.

Event support volunteers help our events by marshalling, welcoming participants, setting up and stewarding.

Our volunteers help to run and structure the events better, keep participants safe and allow us to continue to raise money for our care services.
