Fundraising management volunteer roles

The UK Men’s Sheds Association is seeking a small number of new trustees, based anywhere in the UK. The role is voluntary (reasonable expenses are covered) but is an opportunity to be part of an engaged, effective and friendly Board of an important national charity.

While the roles are primarily as general trustees, there will also be opportunities to serve on one of our two formal sub-committees – Audit & Risk and People. We are also recruiting for a trustee to act as our Treasurer (a role-specific advert is on our website). 

The UKMSA Board fulfils a governance function, ensuring we use our resources responsibly, and that we comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. As a trustee, you will play a key role in ensuring UKMSA’s sustainability and effectiveness, overseeing our strategy and governance, including ensuring we continue to operate to the public benefit. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to use their professional and personal expertise to make a meaningful difference to communities across the UK.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, and you do not need previous charity Board experience.

We regularly review the collective skills and experience of the Board members, and use this to inform recruitment. In particular, we are looking this time around for applicants who can bring significant charity or broader financial experience (not only for the Treasurer role but also to support our Audit & Risk function); experience of national or significant fundraising; and a background in HR or ‘people skills’. These are, however, not prescriptive and we welcome applications from anyone who feels they may have something to offer a medium-sized national charity which has significant impact which belies its size.

Our recruitment is also informed by our policies, especially our EDI and volunteering policies. While the Men’s Sheds movement itself has an understandable male focus, we are keen to maintain a truly diverse Board, both in terms of the protected characteristics under the Equalities Act and in terms of the diversity of experience and background our trustees bring. It is not a UKMSA policy per se, but we aim to maintain a balance of trustees who come from the Shedding movement alongside those who bring external perspectives. Trustees may be based in any part of the UK (we aim to have at least one trustee who is based in every one of the UK home nations). 

We ask that all trustees explicitly sign up to their responsibilities, both statutory and regulatory, with a commitment to good governance and ethical leadership. We also expect a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a diverse and supportive Board, and as a constructive critical friend with the CEO and staff senior leadership team.

SolidariTee is an international charity run and led entirely by volunteers who are students and young people. We're working to make lasting change in the way refugees and other people forced to flee persecution and violence are treated, through a combination of awareness-raising, advocacy, and fundraising to support grassroots NGOs providing vital refugee legal aid and mental health support.

We are currently looking for volunteers to join our Central and Leadership teams!

Our Central Team includes students and other young people from around the UK and works together to coordinate SolidariTee’s core functions and organise opportunities to bring our volunteers and supporters together. Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As a Group Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group reaches out to people affected by MS.

The role is varied, and will enable you to further develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.

We’re looking for three Support Group Volunteer over the age of 18 years old, based in Scotland.

You’ll be volunteering fortnightly Thursday between 10:30am and 11:30am plus additional time for volunteer team meetings and training.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

The volunteer will be

Feeding Britain is the charity established in 2015 to implement the recommendations of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Hunger in the United Kingdom. We are working toward a future where nobody in the UK goes hungry, through a combination of direct project delivery, the allocation of grants to local partner organisations, and through our parliamentary links which enable us to provide policy recommendations based on the findings of our own Academic Advisory Group.

Feeding Britain is radically reforming the role, characteristics, and functions of community food provision across the UK through the establishment and development of Affordable Food Clubs which offer beneficiaries attainable pathways from poverty with a reduced risk of depending on emergency food parcels.

Expansion has been rapid: we are soon to establish our 150th local Feeding Britain partnership. In late 2023 we were selected as one of three Christmas Appeal charities by The Times & Sunday Times, in 2025 we were chosen as The Old Vic’s Christmas fundraising charity partner, and in 2026 we announced a long-term partnership with Gordon Ramsay. This is in addition to our Nourish The Nation partnership with Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s.

We are expanding our trustee board and seek a recruit with interest and expertise in finance and/or risk management, to serve as the trustee lead to oversee this aspect of our work. In addition, candidates should have a strong empathy towards our mission to tackle food poverty in innovative and creative ways. Role Description

The Trustee will take on the functions of an Honorary Treasurer, in monitoring the financial administration of the charity and, alongside the Finance Director, reporting to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health.

Responsibilities may include:

· Leading in the board’s duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements

· Leading in the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost‐management and investment policies, as well as financial control and risk-management procedures alongside sound budgetary and accounting practices

· Liaising, where applicable, with the appropriate member of staff responsible for the financial activities of the organisation

· Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity

· Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan

· Acting as a counter signatory on charity cheques and important applications to funders

· Board‐level liaison with the external auditors on specific issues such as the Auditors’ Management Letter and the related board representations.

Essential Person Specifications:

· Current knowledge of accountancy, auditing, bookkeeping and financial management practices

· Strategic financial planning, forecasting, and reporting skills

· The ability to present and communicate financial information in an accessible way

· An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of a trustee

· A commitment to devote the necessary time to prepare for, attend and contribute meaningfully at trustee meetings

Aim of this role
Research and Campaigns volunteers support our work to change the policies and practice that affect the lives of our clients.

As an R&C volunteer, you will be a part of the R&C team. You will:

• complete an induction to Citizens Advice and training for your role

• keep up-to-date with trends of the concerns affecting clients locally as well as areas identified by national Citizens Advice, and raise call for evidence

• research and gather quality information on key issues affecting local residents

• ensure all volunteers/staff are aware of the purpose of Research and Campaigns and how to write evidence forms

• produce useful, appealing and easily accessible campaign materials and publications for information purposes

• feed back to assessors and advisers on the results of their work and provide them with assistance in completing evidence forms

• help national Citizens Advice to carry out research about how certain issues affect clients in your local area

• gather case studies and client stories

• ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted in our R&C work

• adhere to Citizens Advice Merton and Lambeth’s (CAML) aims and principles

• comply with all relevant GDPR rules and regulations

This role is based in our Mitcham office with some occasional traveling to our other offices in Morden and Kennington. All three offices are well-connected to public transport, and the office in Mitcham has a car park.

This is a chance to make a huge difference through volunteering as Trustee for a life-saving charity which has been having a positive impact in North Somerset since 1994.  We provide professional, low cost counselling and mental health support for people who cannot get the help they need through the NHS and cannot afford to pay for private therapy.  You will hear testimonies of adults and teenagers who have had their lives turned around because of Wellspring.  The Finance Trustee plays a vital role in keeping our organisation on track by ensuring accounts are kept up to date and accurately, having oversight of all our financial matters and providing forecasting to help keep the charity viable and sustainable.

The Finance Trustee should be or have been a finance professional preferably with experience in accounting.  You will keep in contact with the Director and Administrator regularly (1-2 times per month), and meet with the other friendly and caring Board of Trustees once every two months to report on our finances.

In detail the role inovles:

• Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting

procedures and controls are in place.

• Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being

implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial

reserves, and cost management.

• Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

• Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with

Director and Senior Administrator.

• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including

overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process

• Ensuring investments and assets are maximised.

• Lead on the appointment of and liaison with the Independent Examiner.

• Oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating

and reporting corporate risk.

• Acting as Company Secretary for the Charity.

• Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by

relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar

of Companies.

• Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities and

liaising with the Director to develop the financial understanding of the Board of

Trustees.

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As an Activities Organiser, you'll bring your skills, energy and enthusiasm to lead, develop and plan activities and events with your local group. You’ll get involved in creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events, making sure they’re run safely and effectively, to be accessible to our MS community. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day, inspiring your fellow volunteers to get involved.  

Norfolk Tennis is the county governing body for tennis and padel in Norfolk and a volunteer-led Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Charity No. 1203480). We work in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association to support clubs, venues, coaches and players across the county, helping more people enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of tennis and padel. Our work aligns with the LTA’s “Tennis Opened Up” strategy, which aims to make the sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Norfolk Tennis is governed by a Board of Trustees supported by a volunteer Management Committee representing clubs, venues and key development areas across the county. As tennis and padel continue to grow, Norfolk Tennis is seeking individuals to join its Board of Trustees and contribute strategic leadership to the development of tennis and padel across the county.

About the Trustee Role
Trustees play a vital role in ensuring Norfolk Tennis is well governed, financially sustainable and strategically focused. Working collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Management Committee, Trustees help ensure the organisation operates effectively as a charity while delivering meaningful impact for tennis and padel across the county.

Trustees are responsible for:

• Supporting the strategic direction of Norfolk Tennis

Governance & Charity Law Trustee
To support strong governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Norfolk Tennis is seeking a volunteer trustee with expertise in charity law.

This role focuses on providing guidance on legal responsibilities, governance best practice and risk management to support the organisation’s long-term stability and integrity.

Key contributions include:
• Advising the Board of Trustees on charity law, governance and regulatory requirements
• Supporting compliance with Charity Commission guidance and best practice
• Reviewing governing documents and supporting any required updates
• Providing input on policies, risk management and decision-making processes

This role would suit someone with experience in charity law, governance, legal advisory or regulatory compliance, ideally with an understanding of the charitable or sports sector.

Inclusion & Disability Trustee
Norfolk Tennis is committed to ensuring tennis and padel are open and accessible to all communities.

The Inclusion & Disability Trustee helps champion equality, diversity and accessibility across the county, supporting initiatives that widen participation and remove barriers to involvement.

The role includes:

• Supporting Norfolk Tennis in embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles
• Championing inclusive participation for disabled players and under-represented groups
• Advising on inclusive programme development and community engagement
• Supporting initiatives linked to the LTA’s Open Court disability tennis programme
• Helping identify partnerships with organisations supporting inclusive sport

This role would suit someone with experience in EDI leadership, disability sport, community engagement, education or inclusion policy.

Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applicants who bring professional expertise, leadership experience and an interest in supporting community sport.

Experience in tennis is not essential.

We particularly welcome individuals with backgrounds in:

• finance, accounting or investment
• governance, compliance or safeguarding
• equality, diversity and inclusion
• disability sport or community engagement
• commercial partnerships or business development

Most importantly, we are looking for people who bring sound judgement, integrity, collaborative working and a commitment to supporting tennis across Norfolk.

Time Commitment
The role is designed to fit alongside professional and personal commitments.

Typical involvement includes:

• periodic Trustee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• monthly (or every 5-6 weeks) Management Committee meetings (normally online/Zoom)
• periodic engagement on strategic matters within your area of expertise
