Why we need your help
We provide free games and activity sessions with tailored support for children with additional needs and disabilities. We support over 100 children, known as our ‘athletes’, with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, non-visible disabilities, and global development delay. At KEEN London, we strive to use fun and games to improve young people's wellbeing, and personal, social and emotional development as well as broadening experiences to increase skills and confidence.
Purpose of the role
Our Volunteer Coaches are the backbone of a KEEN London session! You’ll provide one-to-one support to an athlete, helping them to access all the activities on offer, achieve their personal development goals, and of course have tons of fun! You can expect to get involved with a wide range of playground games, ball games, nature walks, and creative activities. From time to time, we also run trips for our athletes, and previous trips have included trampoline parks, high ropes courses, pedalo boating and slime-making classes.
Tasks and activities
● You’ll support our athletes to engage with the session, and have fun while they’re doing it.
● You’ll help our Service Coordinators develop goals for our athletes, track their progress, and give them lots of encouragement along the way.
● You’ll work with your Service Coordinators and fellow Coaches to come up with new games, develop resources, and plan activities.
● We want our athletes to enjoy being active, making friends, and trying new things - and we want you to join in the activities with them!
● Our athletes love working with energetic and enthusiastic people, and we’ll ensure that all your hard work will be rewarded with a great time.
Please note: To ensure that you are equipped and ready to take on this role, there is a thorough application process which includes but is not limited to: an information session, an in-person onboarding training evening, an enhanced DBS check, reference checks and a safeguarding quiz. All elements of the onboarding process have to be completed satisfactorily before you can start volunteering in this role.
Why Volunteer with KEEN London?
KEEN London would not be what it is without the volunteers who support our work, and we want to ensure that all our volunteers gain just as much from their volunteering journey as they put into the charity. Here’s what you’ll get in return for supporting us:
● Regular volunteer social events, and opportunities to meet other coaches
● We will provide you with ongoing feedback and support to enable you to reach your full potential at KEEN, you will receive an induction and handbook prior to starting your role and you will receive access to a virtual training portal with additional resources.
● We will give you opportunities to access other roles to help you broaden your skills, such as becoming a Captain or Session Leader.
● Long-term volunteers receive t-shirts, badges, and advance sign-ups to our popular events
● We have a budget set aside to cover volunteer expenses (see Volunteer Agreement below)
● We will provide job/character references to volunteers after a reasonable period of volunteering with us.
Volunteer Agreement
All KEEN London volunteers are asked to observe the Volunteer Agreement. This agreement is binding in honour only, is not intended to be a legally binding contract between us and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intends any employment relationship to be created either now or at any time in the future.

We’re seeking a Trustee with strategic finance (CFO-level) expertise to strengthen our board as we grow and to help us scale our mission to bring economic opportunites to those impacted by homelessness.
You’ll bring commercial acumen to our mission—helping us plan sustainably, understand our unit economics, and scale responsibly—without being “the accountant.” Our operations are hospitality-led, so experience in catering, hospitality, or multi-site venues is helpful (not essential).

What you’ll do
· Support the Board and Chair with financial strategy, planning, and risk management.
· Challenge and refine our financial model, forecasting, and cashflow planning (12–36 months).
· Help shape P&L, balance sheet and cash visibility that operators can use day-to-day.
· Advise on site-level unit economics, menu margin mix, labour model, and cost control.
· Strengthen budgeting, KPI dashboards, and scenario modelling for growth (e.g., second site in Brighton).
· Support funding strategy: grants, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, social investment.
· Create a Finance & Risk Committee (chair if appropriate).
· Ensure robust governance, internal controls, and compliance with charity and company law.
· Act as a critical friend—asking the right questions, mentoring our leadership and on site General Manager and team, and championing our mission.
We’re not looking for
· A bookkeeper or day-to-day accountant. We want a strategic finance leader who can translate numbers into decisions and coach an operations-minded team.

The Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity for a career step-up, providing experience in managing legal teams and departmental operations within a social justice framework. In this Head of Department capacity, you will gain the leadership credentials and strategic oversight necessary to advance your professional trajectory while ensuring every individual we support is empowered to achieve their full potential.
Role Purpose
The Head of Department (Legal) oversees a team of dedicated legal professionals and graduates who operate in a capacity similar to paralegals. You will bridge the gap between Directors and the legal team, turning high-level objectives into actionable legal support plans while ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct and social justice advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight: Developing and managing the legal department’s roadmap to support Quilombo UK’s social justice initiatives.
Team Supervision: Overseeing the work of legal graduates, many of whom are working towards their LLM (Master of Laws), ensuring their contributions are technically sound and ethically grounded.
Departmental Leadership: Coaching the legal team to maintain 100% project visibility and ensuring all work meets the rigorous standards required for future SRA accreditation.
Social Justice Advocacy: Managing caseloads and research projects that tackle systemic inequalities and discrimination within the community.
Operational Control: Maintaining 100% visibility of all legal tasks via project management tools and providing weekly reports to Directors on risks, progress, and Work in Progress (WIP).
Additional Professional Benefits
Career Development: A full CV and profile review conducted by our Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams.
Operational Support: Access to the services of the Legal, Graphic Design, PR, and Production teams for up to 10 hours per month for professional or departmental support.
Proactive Recruitment: Use of the Talent Acquisition team to actively search out new roles and opportunities via industry portals and LinkedIn.
Financial Incentives
15% Profit Share: A share of the commission for work carried out, divided among individuals at the HoD level for specific tasks.
10% Business Development: An additional commission if new work or clients are brought into the organisation independently by the HoD.
Requirements
A strong legal background (GDL, or equivalent) with a deep commitment to social justice.
Experience in a supervisory or management role, ideally overseeing paralegals or junior legal researchers.
