Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.

Role Summary

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping create and implementing strategies to fundraise from both existing and new sources (individuals, mosques, grants etc.) with the aim of securing the long-term financial stability of Roots Academy.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve income goals.
• Identify potential new funding sources and opportunities for income generation.

Campaign Management:

• Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and fundraising events at mosques.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling fundraising material.

Proposal Development:

• Research trusts, foundations and corporations for grant opportunities.
• Work with the team to develop proposals, supporting with grant writing when needed.

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in organising fundraising campaigns and events, including digital fundraising strategies
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organisation’s mission and impact to diverse audiences
• Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective fundraising plans
• Strong understanding of Islam and the Muslim Community

Maintenance Volunteer

About the Role

As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will help maintain and improve the homes and environments of people with autism, sight loss, and learning disabilities. Your support will help create safe, comfortable, and welcoming spaces where people can thrive.

This role involves practical tasks such as painting, decorating, gardening, and general DIY. Please note that electrical, plumbing, and gas work are not included in this volunteer role.

How can you help? 

As an Events Team Support Volunteer, you will play an important behind-thescenes role in helping our fundraising events run smoothly. You'll help create a positive experience for our supporters from the moment they sign up through to celebrating their achievements after event day. You may be asked to support with a range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Supporter communications: Making phone calls to wish participants good luck before their event, congratulate them afterwards and thank them for their incredible fundraising efforts, as well as preparing and posting good luck cards and other supporter mailings.
• Participant materials: Preparing fundraising packs, participant welcome materials and certificates, ensuring participants receive everything they need.
• Event preparation: Packing event day materials and organising and assembling cheer packs, including banners, pom-poms, signs and other supporter resources.
• Data and administration: Assisting with data entry, updating supporter records, envelope stuffing, labelling and other general administrative tasks.
• Event and team support: Assisting with event logistics in the lead-up to busy fundraising events and helping to ensure the Events Team workspace is tidy, organised and well-stocked.
• Ad hoc support: Supporting wider Events Team projects and administrative tasks, particularly during busy periods, to help keep things running smoothly.

Location and time commitment

This is an office-based volunteering role. We’re therefore looking for someone who is happy to volunteer at our Fleet, Hampshire office initially, before continuing at our new Woking office from early 2027 onwards.

During our busier spring and autumn seasons, we’re looking for a commitment of approximately two hours per week, ideally on a Wednesday. During the quieter summer and winter seasons, this would reduce to approximately two hours every two weeks. We understand that volunteers have other commitments, so we can offer some flexibility and can tailor your experience around your availability. 

Practical considerations You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the Events team, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers may be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. Chair of Trustees and Trustees

The Genie’s Wish is looking for a new Chair of Trustees and two Trustees to help guide the charity through its next stage of development based in Nantwich, Cheshire.

About The Genie’s Wish

Established in 2021, The Genie’s Wish grants life-changing wishes and creates unforgettable experiences for children, young people and young adults aged 0 to 40 who are living with a serious or life-limiting condition.

We also support young carers aged 5 to 18, recognising the resilience and selflessness they show in caring for a loved one.

Our work brings joy, hope and a sense of possibility during some of life’s toughest moments. By supporting young adults and young carers who are often overlooked by traditional wish provision, we fill an important gap and create a lasting impact for individuals and families across England and Wales.

The opportunity

As a member of the Board, you will share responsibility for the charity’s governance, strategic direction and effective management.

You will work collaboratively with fellow trustees and the charity’s Co-Founders, using your experience and independent judgement to support effective decision-making and help safeguard the charity’s future.

Chair of Trustees

The Chair will provide inclusive and effective leadership to the Board, helping trustees work well together and ensuring meetings, decisions and governance arrangements remain focused on the charity’s purpose and beneficiaries.

We are particularly interested in someone with previous board, governance or senior leadership experience who can:

• Lead constructive and well-informed Board discussions
• Build strong working relationships with trustees and the Co-Founders
• Support effective oversight, accountability and strategic planning
• Act as an ambassador for The Genie’s Wish and its values

Trustees

The two new Trustees will help broaden the Board’s knowledge, networks and perspective.

We would particularly welcome applicants with professional experience in one or more of the following areas, but is not essential:

• Law
• Accountancy, finance or audit
• Media, communications, marketing or public relations
• Business, enterprise or organisational growth

Previous trustee experience is welcome but is not essential. We are equally interested in people who can bring relevant professional expertise, thoughtful challenge and a genuine commitment to the charity’s work.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law and other relevant legislation and regulations
• Keep the charity focused on its objectives and ensure its resources are used appropriately
• Contribute to strategy, policy, goal setting and the review of organisational performance
• Help ensure the charity is effectively administered and remains financially stable
• Safeguard the charity’s reputation, values and confidential information
• Declare and appropriately manage any actual or potential conflicts of interest
• Use your skills and experience to scrutinise information, contribute to discussions and guide new initiatives
• Represent and promote the charity at meetings, events and within your professional networks where appropriate

• A genuine commitment to The Genie’s Wish, its objectives and beneficiaries
• Integrity, discretion and an understanding of collective responsibility
• Strategic vision, sound independent judgement and the confidence to contribute constructively
• The ability to think creatively and work effectively as part of a team
• A willingness to dedicate the necessary time, prepare for meetings and participate actively
• A commitment to accountability, openness, honesty, objectivity, selflessness and leadership

Commitment and appointment

Trustees are expected to attend at least 75% of trustee meetings each year, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Appointments are for a term of up to three years and may be renewed for a further term.

These are voluntary, unpaid positions. Reasonable expenses may be reimbursed in line with the charity’s procedures.

Successful applicants must be eligible to act as a charity trustee. They will also be expected to follow the Trustee Code of Conduct, maintain confidentiality and complete a Declaration of Interests.

The difference you will make to cats and people

From elderly moggies to energetic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

You can expect us to

• Ensure you have all you need in place to foster the cat(s) in your care, for example equipment and food
• Cover all your foster cats’ expenses and agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

To deliver engaging and inspiring wellbeing sessions at the Baytree Centre, fostering a healthier and happier community. By sharing your expertise and creating a supportive environment, the role empowers participants to explore different aspects of wellbeing and adopt positive lifestyle choices. Topics may include mindfulness, creative arts, physical fitness, nutrition or other wellbeing-related activities.

Main Responsibilities:

- Lead and deliver wellbeing workshops on agreed topics.

- Prepare and set up the space, ensuring all materials and resources are available and organised for each session.

- Create a supportive and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable to learn, share, and engage in discussions.

- Encourage connections between participants.

- Provide guidance, encouragement, and practical tips to help participants integrate wellbeing practices into their daily lives.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualities Required:

- Expertise or experience in one or more wellbeing areas such as mindfulness, creative arts, fitness, nutrition, or similar.

- Strong facilitation skills to engage participants and encourage active involvement.

- Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to support participants from diverse backgrounds.

- Good organisational skills to ensure smooth preparation and delivery of sessions.

- Excellent communication skills to convey information clearly and encourage meaningful discussion.

- Interest in health, wellbeing, or community engagement.

Commitment:

- Deliver wellbeing workshops, (day and time subject to the timetable).

- Minimum commitment of 2 terms for continuity and effectiveness.

Purpose of the Role:

ESOL Teaching Support Volunteer To provide one-to-one support to students who need extra help in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Literacy classes at the Baytree Centre. Working under the guidance of the class teacher, you will reinforce lesson content, help students build confidence, and contribute to an inclusive and positive learning environment for adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities:

- Work alongside the teaching team to support ESOL and Literacy classes.

- Provide one-to-one assistance to students who require extra support, following the teacher’s delivery.

- Reinforce learning activities and encourage student participation.

- Acknowledge achievements and promote positive behaviour to motivate learners.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualities Required:

- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both students and educators.

- Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity to support students with diverse needs.

- Good organisational skills to help ensure smooth running of classes.

- Ability to collaborate as part of a team while remaining flexible to classroom needs.

- Reliable, punctual, and committed to supporting learners’ progress.

- Interest in language learning, education, or community support.

Commitment:

- Assist in one ESOL and Literacy class (day and time subject to the timetable).

At Doorstep Library, we’re dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support.

With 1 in 4 children in the UK leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train in-person and online volunteers to introduce children from under-resourced areas to the pleasure of reading.

What’s Involved?

As a Doorstep Library reading volunteer, you’ll visit the same families via Zoom every week with eBooks to share with the children and encourage their love of reading.

You will:

• Handpick eBooks from our online portals based on the children’s age, interests, and reading level
• Join families via Zoom with your volunteer partner for 20-minute reading sessions  
• Make notes after the session to keep track of how the child/ren are progressing

Our unique home-based approach allows our volunteers to build trusting relationships with families, helping them to connect with the community and equip them with the skills they need to succeed later in life.

When and Where?

You can be based anywhere in the UK to become a Doorstep Library online volunteer.

• Time commitment: One evening a week (Regular Volunteer), one evening every other week (Semi-Regular Volunteer) or once every 3 weeks (Stand-In Volunteer) during school term times
• Hours per week: 2
• Days: Our projects run on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays from 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Doorstep Library is committed tosafeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and all those it comes into contact with.All volunteersundergo rigorous safer recruitment processes including specified interview questions, a DBS check, and the collection of written and/or verbal references.  Safeguarding training is a mandatory part of the induction process for all volunteers, and they are expected to always adhere to our safeguarding policies and procedures. 

The difference you will make to cats and people

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

What we need from you

You'll be:

• overseeing the collection and delivery of collection boxes in different locations
• recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters
• researching local areas for collection box ‘hot spots’
• sharing fundraising ideas with other volunteers and putting these into practice 
• sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

Time expectation

Our collection box fundraising volunteers usually spend 1 to 2 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Hertfordshire’s Family Centre Service brings children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing together, to provide a more joined-up service for children, young people, and their families.

The centres deliver a range of support groups and activities for children and their families to help them be healthy, grow and develop. To make it easy for families to fit sessions and services around their busy lives, access is available from any Hertfordshire Family centre. We have locations across the entire county so please do enquire ensuring you have provided your postcode. 

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/ Activities

To support Public Health Nursing teams by helping parents use baby weighing equipment in a welcoming and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Welcome parents, carers, and babies to the self-weigh session in a friendly and approachable way.

· Explain how to use the weighing equipment safely and accurately (training provided).

· Support parents to record their baby’s weight on growth charts or apps as appropriate.

· Ensure the weighing area is safe, clean, and ready for families to use.

· Provide reassurance and encouragement to parents and carers.

· Signpost any questions or concerns about a baby’s health or development to a Family Centre staff member

Skills / Abilities / Experience / Qualities

· Friendly, patient, and approachable.

· Good communication and listening skills.

· Confident in supporting parents to use simple equipment (training given).

· Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.

· Respectful and non-judgemental towards all families.

Training / Support

· A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided.

· Requirement to undertake One YMCA online training courses

· To understand and implement One YMCA’s policies.

· Ongoing support and regular 1:1 meetings

· Access to organisational events throughout the year including Socials, Conferences and Training opportunities.

The British Horseback Archery Association (BHAA) is seeking a volunteer Finance Committee Member to help strengthen our financial governance as we continue to grow participation, develop our national programmes and represent Great Britain on the international stage.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to a small but ambitious National Governing Body. Your expertise will help ensure we remain financially sustainable while investing in the future of horseback archery across the UK.

About the role

Working alongside the Chair and Board of Directors, you'll provide independent financial oversight and support by:

• Reviewing budgets, financial reports and expenditure

• Providing financial guidance on strategic decisions

• Supporting good financial governance and accountability

• Helping monitor organisational reserves and financial sustainability

• Advising on financial policies and processes

• Bringing an objective financial perspective to Board discussions when required

Who we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from people who have experience in areas such as:

• Finance

• Accounting

• Financial planning

• Audit

• Charity finance

• Commercial finance

Professional qualifications are welcomed but not essential. More important is a sound understanding of financial management and a desire to help a volunteer-led organisation succeed.

Time commitment

Approximately 2–4 hours per month, with occasional attendance at online Board meetings if required.
