We are asking Local Coordinators to launch Amnesty Human Rights Where You Live initiatives in their area of the East Midlands, helping to bring together local people with an interest in human rights. This is an on-the-ground role promoting activism in your area.
Over the next twelve months, Coordinators would then support their local team to:
Raise awareness of and campaign on human rights issues locally.
Persuade local politicians to put human rights at the heart of their decisions
Engage their local community and ‘change the conversation’ on human rights
Mark International Human Rights Day on 10 December
Set up an Amnesty local group with fundraising to enable future campaigning
They would also have the chance to team up with other Coordinators to help develop and deliver a human rights campaign for the East Midlands.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in your local area on issues you are passionate about while also gaining experience and confidence with a wide range of campaign and communication skills.
What support would I get?
Coordinators will be supported at every step by the Amnesty East Midlands Regional Organiser and other staff, who will provide:
Support for a local launch meeting for Human Rights Where You Live
Training in knowledge and skills
1-1 coaching
Organising, campaigning and fundraising resources
Face-to-face and online networking with other activists as a regional team.
My main staff point of contact would be: East Midlands Regional Organiser
All Coordinators would:
Communicate regularly with the East Midlands Regional Organiser
Feedback on their activities on a regular and structured basis.
Aim to attend a reasonable number of core training and networking sessions online and in-person, depending on individual circumstances.
What skills and knowledge are needed?
Some knowledge of your local area in the East Midlands.
Good written and oral communications skills
Experience of team-working
Basic IT competency (email, word processing, etc.) and internet access
Experience of campaigning is always welcome but not essential – we find that people often have skills from something else they have done that would be very helpful for the role.
How much time is needed?
We would estimate around 2-3 hours a week would be the average, although there may be some periods where more or less commitment is needed. We’d ask that you commit to your local Human Rights Where You Live project for at least one year, although we recognize that people’s circumstances do change.
We also understand that this role may need to fit around your family, studies, caring or other commitments.
Any other requirements?
Coordinators would need to be living in the East Midlands and unlikely to move in the next 12 months. We welcome interest from students at East Midlands universities.
We would ask that any Coordinator be at least 18. However, if you are under 18 but would still like to get involved in Amnesty, please do get in touch to find more about our youth groups.
We welcome interest from people who are already volunteering with another community or campaign group with an interest in human rights, and who are interested in doing a local Human Rights Where You Live project as a collaboration between Amnesty and that group.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

HELP US LAUNCH MINDSET — AND BUILD THE DIGITAL SYSTEMS THAT POWER OUR MISSION
We’re ideally seeking volunteers based in London, but we welcome passionate people from across England who can join virtually and help shape the future of a charity with huge potential.
We’re MINDSET Charity, a bold new start‑up in London on a mission to equip and empower men and boys with the tools they need for better mental health, stronger resilience and long‑term personal growth.
We’re building a stigma‑free movement — a space where men and boys can learn real, practical, non‑clinical skills that help them build better habits, better mindsets and better lives. From 1:1 Life Coaching, to 6‑ and 12‑week self‑improvement programmes, to school workshops for teenage boys, we’re creating something powerful.
And right now, we’re getting ready to launch — and we need an IT & Digital Systems Coordinator who can build the digital infrastructure that keeps MINDSET running safely, smoothly and professionally.
YOUR IMPACT WILL BE HUGE
Joining MINDSET at this early stage means you’re not just “doing IT” — you’re building the systems that will support every volunteer, every programme and every young person or man we help.
Your leadership will directly influence:
how strong and secure our digital foundation becomes;
how effectively we track impact, case notes and programme outcomes;
how smoothly volunteers can work across our platforms;
how safe and protected our data and devices remain;
how quickly and confidently we can launch our charity.
This is your chance to help build a charity from the ground up — shaping its digital infrastructure, its security and its future.
THE ROLE: IT & DIGITAL SYSTEMS COORDINATOR (VOLUNTEER)
As our IT & Digital Systems Coordinator, you’ll research, create and set up the free digital tools that power MINDSET — from cloud‑based CRMs and case‑note systems to impact‑tracking platforms and volunteer management tools.
You’ll configure our Office 365, emails and SharePoint so they’re secure, organised and built for charity use. You’ll lock down our devices — laptops, tablets and phones — so they’re protected, purpose‑built and safe for storing sensitive data.
This role is perfect for someone who loves tech, enjoys problem‑solving and wants to help build a charity from the ground up.
WHAT YOU’LL HELP US BUILD
1. Digital Systems & Infrastructure
Researching and setting up free cloud‑based CRM platforms.
Creating case‑note recording systems to track impact.
Building digital workflows that support volunteers and programmes.
Ensuring systems are simple, secure and fit for purpose.
2. Office 365, Email & SharePoint Setup
Configuring Office 365 for charity use.
Setting up secure email accounts and access levels.
Building a structured, safe SharePoint Drive.
Ensuring everything is compliant, organised and easy to use.
3. Device Configuration & Security
Setting up laptops, tablets and phones for MINDSET use only.
Locking devices so they cannot be used for other purposes.
Ensuring all data is encrypted, protected and secure.
Implementing best‑practice security measures.
4. Digital Support & Volunteer Enablement
Helping volunteers navigate systems with confidence.
Troubleshooting issues and keeping everything running smoothly.
Creating simple guides, walkthroughs and support materials.
Making sure every volunteer feels supported and capable.
5. Building a Strong Digital Foundation
Creating systems future teams can rely on.
Supporting risk management and data protection.
Helping MINDSET grow safely, professionally and sustainably.
WE’RE NOT JUST LOOKING FOR ANYONE
We’re especially interested in people who:
have experience with IT systems, cloud platforms or digital tools;
enjoy researching, testing and building new digital solutions;
understand data security, device protection and good digital practice;
bring clarity, structure and problem‑solving skills;
care deeply about men’s mental health, wellbeing and personal growth;
want to help build a charity from scratch;
enjoy empowering volunteers through simple, effective systems.
If you’re someone who loves building systems, solving problems and creating digital foundations — this is your moment.

As the Guild has grown in the past few years, our risk management, financial controls, and body of policies and procedures have also matured. Following the scheduled departure of two trustees earlier this year, the Guild’s Finance Subcommittee is seeking to welcome an independent member with relevant skills to attend meetings and advise on financial matters to help us make good decisions effectively.
This voluntary role supports trustees and staff by providing independent insight, constructive scrutiny, and professional expertise on financial planning, budgeting, risk, and long-term sustainability. As a guest to Finance Subcommittee meetings, you will review financial information, contribute to discussions, and help ensure resources are used effectively to maximise our charitable impact for students.
The Finance Subcommittee currently consists of two elected Officers, two external Trustees, and may include a student trustee in future. Papers and reports are ordinarily provided by the Guild Director, who is a non-voting guest to Subcommittee meetings. The Subcommittee normally meets four times per year for around two hours.
Students’ Union experience is not essential, but we are seeking a volunteer able to operate within our distinctive context. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in finance, accounting, audit, charity governance, or business management.
We enrich the lives of all college, university, and apprentice learners at University College Birmingham so that they can achieve their full potential
