Role Overview

We are looking for a London-based Volunteer Social Media Assistant to support our Social Media Manager in growing LIVN Global’s online presence.

This role will combine digital support with on-the-ground content creation, helping us capture real moments from our events, outreach, and community activities. You will play a key role in helping us increase awareness and build a stronger, more engaged community of supporters.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Social Media Manager in planning and scheduling content
• Capture photo and video content at events, outreaches, and key moments across London
• Assist in creating engaging posts (reels, stories, captions, and graphics)
• Help maintain a consistent and compelling social media presence
• Engage with followers through comments and messages where appropriate
• Support campaigns aimed at increasing awareness and growing our community
• Identify content opportunities during live events and activities
• Assist with basic editing of photos and videos for social media use

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is based in or near London and able to attend events and activities in person
• Has an interest in social media, content creation, or digital marketing
• Has experience filming content on a smartphone or camera
• Is creative, proactive, and has a good eye for storytelling
• Has good written communication skills
• Is organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Aligns with the vision and values of LIVN Global
• Can commit at least 14 hours per week

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience editing short-form video content
• Basic design skills (e.g. Canva)
• Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
• Experience supporting live events or community initiatives

About Us

Mind of the Student is a youth mental health charity that works with schools, young people, and families to support emotional wellbeing and improve mental health awareness.

Our programmes include EmpowerU, Empowering Young Minds, school mental health workshops, Mind of the Parent, and Ambassador Training. Through these projects, we aim to create safe spaces where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered.

The Role

We are looking for Programme Support Volunteers to support our delivery team during workshops, school sessions, and community programmes.

This is a supportive role where volunteers work alongside a Project Lead or Lead Facilitator to help sessions run smoothly. Volunteers will not be expected to deliver content, but will play an important part in supporting students, helping manage group activities, maintaining appropriate ratios, and contributing to a positive environment during sessions.

This role would suit someone interested in mental health, youth work, education, psychology, counselling, or anyone looking to gain experience working with young people.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting Lead Facilitators during sessions and workshops
• Helping create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
• Encouraging student participation and engagement
• Providing general pastoral support to young people where appropriate
• Supporting behaviour management alongside staff
• Assisting with setting up and packing away resources
• Helping monitor student wellbeing during sessions
• Escalating any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns to senior staff
• Supporting the general organisation and smooth running of programmes

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for people who:

• Are passionate about supporting young people
• Have an interest in mental health and wellbeing
• Are approachable, reliable, and professional
• Feel comfortable working in school or youth settings
• Work well as part of a team
• Are willing to learn and take part in training

Previous experience is not essential.

We especially welcome applications from students or individuals looking for placements or practical experience within mental health, education, counselling, psychology, youth work, or related sectors.

Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be based within a 20 mile radius of Havering, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Croydon, or Southend on Sea
• Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Be able to commit to between 0 and 8 hours per week
• Share the values and mission of Mind of the Student

We're growing our volunteering team and looking to recruit 2 Lead Volunteers for our Communications & Marketing Team (and 2 Lead Volunteers specifically for Content.) The successful candidates will have the overall responsibility for the Charity’s communications and marketing. We’re looking for someone who has a passion for promoting a charity supporting a rare condition and can support and lead a volunteering team as well as plan and use communication tools such as websites, social media, Canva and other digital platforms.

This is a flexible volunteering opportunity, which means your commitment can be balanced around your lifestyle - being part of a team to ensure that communications to our community and supporters are up to date and timely.

You will provide leadership for your team and support the development of a communications plan for the charity.

Key Tasks and Objectives

● Lead a team of communications and marketing volunteers.

● Lead and co-ordinate internal projects, activities and campaigns that help build awareness of our organisation and its aims.

● Run the meetings for the Communications & Marketing Team on a monthly basis.

● Regularly meet with and be the point of contact for the lead volunteers for Content, Social Media and Email Marketing to co-ordinate and plan.

● Where and if possible, to also be an active part of the Communications & Marketing Team either as a content writer, copy writer or another role.

● Identifying, initiating and leading on projects which align to the strategy and realise our goals.

● Collaborate with the team.

● To support the charity in develping a visual form of our Annual Report or other reporting documents such as grant reports.

● Support the development and implementation of the Communications Strategy.

● Protecting our charity brand identity, ensuring it is delivered consistently, both internally and externally.

● Promote the charity across all our channels and forms of communication.

● Ensure effective, regular communication to both internal and external audiences.

● Review progress and effectiveness of the Communications Strategy on an annual basis.

● Creativity regarding message management and medium.

● Good IT skills.

● Ability to motivate and enthuse others.

● Previous experience in marketing, communications, or related fields.

● Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire volunteers.

● Experience of using Canva or similar design packages.

● A strong network of PR and media contacts would be highly advantageous.
