Volunteer Role
High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Job description

For many people affected by MS, getting around is vital to their wellbeing. Our transport volunteers help make sure people affected by MS can access activities and events.

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Volunteer Driver for the South West Buckinghamshire Group.

We are seeking new Volunteer Drivers to add to our rota to help reduce isolation by driving people who wouldn't be able to attend their local group's activities and events at our South West Bucks MS Society Group. We have a committee of four people and a small group of volunteers who help with the driving and at our monthly socials. The role involves enabling people with MS to attend local activities by driving the group transport and assisting passengers getting in/out of the vehicle and during the journey. The role also involves ensuring that the vehicle is safe and roadworthy and completing all relevant safety checks as identified in the transport risk assessment process.

Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary but we estimate about 4-5 hours split over 2 pick-ups for the monthly socials on the first Saturday of each month. We also organise 2 or 3 outings a year for which we need a driver.

You'll have support from the Group Coordinator and also have a welcome and induction checklist which lists what resources are available to support you in your role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be friendly and welcoming and have previous experience of driving a minibus.

You must live in the south West Bucks area to carry out this role.
