Job description

Salary: £53,381-£58,818 per annum (inclusive of London Supplement)
Contract: Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week

The Royal British Legion is looking for an experienced and analytical Senior Acquisition Manager to lead its mass fundraising acquisition activity and drive sustainable growth across multiple channels.

This is a senior role at the heart of RBL’s acquisition strategy, responsible for bringing new supporters into the organisation and creating the foundations for long-term engagement and income. You will lead acquisition across digital, TV, face-to-face and wider campaign activity, ensuring channels work together to deliver a consistent supporter experience. Crucially, you will ensure acquisition is designed as the first stage of an ongoing supporter journey, with clear connections into Welcome, Retention and Growth and a shared focus on building lasting relationships with supporters.

Reporting to the Head of Acquisition and Development, you will define acquisition plans, set priorities and make informed decisions about investment, performance and future growth. Working closely with colleagues across Planning, Product, Digital, Brand and Fundraising, you will use data, insight and audience understanding to identify opportunities, optimise activity and continually improve performance. You will also work closely with colleagues across the wider supporter journey to ensure acquisition activity is coordinated with what follows, creating a cohesive experience from a supporter’s first interaction with RBL onwards.

You will also lead and develop a team of Acquisition Managers and Officers, creating clarity, supporting high performance and embedding new ways of working across the team. Strong stakeholder management will be essential, as you build effective relationships across RBL and with external agencies, while constructively challenging activity to ensure it delivers against wider fundraising objectives.

The ideal candidate will bring significant experience of developing mass fundraising or marketing strategies at scale, strong analytical and commercial skills, and a proven track record of managing teams in complex organisations. You will be confident working with substantial budgets, using data to inform decisions and translating organisational strategy into clear plans and objectives for your team.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of RBL’s mass fundraising, helping to attract and engage more supporters and generate the sustainable income needed to support the Armed Forces community.
