1. Purpose of the Role

About Chapter One
Chapter One is a small but growing charity, working to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,500 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 180 local and national businesses. The volunteer task is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About Sculpt UK
Sculpt is a UK-based charity with over 20 years’ experience, who support young people to shape their own future. Our vision is that we live in a society where young people can be fulfilled through their education, work and participation in wider society. The need for our work is clear given the increasing problems young people face and their lack of confidence and awareness regarding their journey into the world of work.
We run a range of bespoke programmes that work directly with young people in conjunction with partners - schools, careers hubs, employers, local government and further/higher education. Sculpt addresses interconnected areas that contribute towards our vision: Employability, Youth Voice and Leadership, and Community Action. We build the skills and experience of young people focusing on the transitions between school, education and work. What does the role involve?
Sculpt UK is hiring a youth programme officer who would deliver our direct intervention work with young people with a focus on skills building around employment through our holistic work experience programmes. Approximately 75% of our work involves working with young people who have SEND or who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training).

Lead on the Futures Unlocked programme delivery – working with 375 students across London on Free School Meals with SEND to run work experience days with a range of employers
