The Role
The role of the Events team within Alpha International is to oversee the organising of Leadership Conference (LC) in-person, any events around Leadership Conference (including Donor events, Wednesday CEF event, Alpha Staff day, regional satellite events) and London-based Alpha events across the year (such as Alpha Collective and Experience Alpha).
This role is responsible for managing health and safety across the HTB sites, catering (crew, bloom café, Brompton road food vans and green rooms), internal deliveries and LC app, along with other LC related tasks.
The Key Responsibilities
Logistical arrangements:
o Development and execution of the events Day Plan. This is a minute-by-minute detailed plan that holds all the information of what will take place at the event
o Gathering technical and logistical requirements from speakers, stream leaders and internal departments; then negotiating this with the IT, Production, Vergers and Volunteers Teams or with an external venue or AV suppliers
o Determining catering requirements and caterer management
o Hiring of any additional venues as required and HTB site logistics
o Attending site visits (for external venues that might be used)
o Hiring of any additional equipment required for the event
o Liaising with the Production, IT, Verger, Worship team and all other internal departments
o Ensuring any legal and insurance tasks are thought about and in place for the event taking place
o Creating floor plans for the vergers to use
o Liaising on interpretation needs are met including BSL
o Liaising regarding speakers and associated tasks including contracts, gifts and accommodation
o Liaising and implementing programme decisions
o Developing and implementing new floor plans and layouts at events
o Ensuring event Health and Safety has been implemented
o Delivery plans
o Any other event related task
Marketing and communications:
o Working closely with the marketing team on the marketing plan and budget
o Steer and monitor social media campaigns, alongside internal creative services teams
o Ensuring all GDPR protocols are followed – keeping the login access tracker up to date
o Overseeing LC app contract and content
o Delegate collateral e.g. packing tote bags
Staffing:
o Volunteer recruitment working closely with the Alpha leadership on this
o Communication with HTB staff as to their specific roles and responsibilities & conducting staff briefings
o Building working relationships with volunteers and team when onsite
Registration and Ticketing:
o Oversight of the busy Leadership Conference inbox for guest queries
o Creating booking system for taking in person events registrations using an online event platform
o Ensuring the Alpha leadership gets regular booking reports
o Oversight of IT equipment owned by team
o Granting access to systems
Safeguarding
o Linking in with the Safeguarding Lead if any safeguarding issues come up in the inboxes or at the event
Debrief
o Debrief to be done for different areas involved in
Leadership Conference Week Responsibilities
o Taking a lead role on several key packages assigned to this role
o Create and maintain comprehensive event documentation
o Writing papers on the different areas for senior management to review as and when is required
o Stay within the budget allocated and make adjustments to event constraints based on financial situation. Looking for ways to save money on all areas you look after
o Developing and implementing new and improved processes
o Holding the Alpha standard on communication in everything we do or send before, during or after the event
o Attend senior leadership meetings to provide updates as an when is required on your different areas
o Managing admin across the event, dealing with sign off, budgets and compiling post event reporting – to take learnings for next years event
o Looking at ways to improve LC year on year by researching competitor events and market knowledge

Job Title: Public Affairs Manager
Reports to: Head of Policy and Campaigns
Location: Hybrid & Borough High Street, London SE1 (2 days a week in the office)
Salary: £46,000
Contract: 18 months (with potential for extension)

About the role
We’re looking for a resourceful, experienced public affairs manager to join our dedicated team working to bringjustice, meaningful recognition and lasting health improvements to a community that has suffered as a result of the biggest treatment scandal in NHS history.
This is a rare opportunity to work for an organisation with a high profile within the political and health policy landscape with a 50-year track record of effective advocacy for our small community of people living with genetic and acquired bleeding disorders and their families. Most importantly, this role has the potential to directly improve peoples’ lives.
Around two thirds of our members are impacted by the contaminated blood scandal of the 1970s and 80s, which was recently investigated by the Infected Blood Inquiry. The resulting report in 2024 recommended improved health resources for people with bleeding disorders as well as compensation and support for those infected and affected by the scandal.
Although significant progress has been made, there’s a lot more to do. Maintaining political pressure and keeping this issue in the public eye are essential to ensure our members receive the support and recognition they deserve. As public affairs manager you will bring energy, contacts, knowledge and ideas to strengthen and broaden engagement with MPs, peers and decision-makers.
In addition to our infected blood work, you will support other projects, including challenging gender inequality in accessing treatment and care and ensuring that people living with rare bleeding disorders have access to the latest cutting edge technologies.

We are the only UK-wide charity for all those affected by a genetic bleeding disorder, a community of individuals and families, healthcare professionals and supporters.
For more than 75 years we have campaigned for better treatment, been a source of information and advice and supported people living with life-long conditions.

- Develop our public affairs strategy to forward the policy goals of THS
- Translate the governmenthealth strategy and communicate its impact on the bleeding disorders community.
- Support the APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood, acting in capacity as THS secretariat to the group
- Develop and maintain relationships with MPs, peers and other health policy stakeholders. Recognising and creating opportunities to promote the work and strategies of THS and raise issues in the houses
- Working closely with the team to lead on the legislative changes which would impact on the infected blood community

Health & Safety Coordinator

The role:
The Health & Safety Coordinator will provide support across the Rothschild Foundation to ensure that all appropriate health and safety, risk management, and related compliance systems and procedures are in place, reviewed and updated regularly.
This role is responsible for producing incident reports and submitting RIDDOR reports, undertaking weekly and quarterly playground inspections, as well as responding to all queries - both internally and externally - relating to health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations into workplace and visitor incidents, and be directly responsible for the necessary record keeping and any claims management.
- Working with the Security Department, and supporting as required with fire testing and safety. You will work with the Head of Security on disaster planning and the disaster team in general

- Undertake weekly and quarterly routine inspection of the children’s woodland playground at Waddesdon Manor, ensuring all paperwork is completed, reporting any required works, and liaising with ROSPA and the insurers during their annual inspection
- Make the action points for the H&S Committee meeting, distribute these in a timely manner, and support preparation of the agenda in advance of the meeting
- Ensure Heads of Departments update and maintain all risk assessments for their business area and that record of awareness forms are completed annually, and remind Heads of Department about conducting new activity risk assessments
- Coordinate mandatory training for the Rothschild Foundation using the e-learning system and regularly produce reports on staff members that have not completed the required modules and flag to the relevant line manager

Job Purpose
To support the manager and deliver on the home and settle services across two hospitals, supporting the wider team, and provide leadership when necessary. You will work in collaboration with AUKEL, the hospitals, and other community health and social care colleagues.
The service supports people returning home after a stay in hospital, helping them to settle back at home, regain confidence and support with some practical tasks, e.g. shopping/cleaning. You will manage referrals, carry out assessments, and with the Manager, allocate service users to Discharge and Settle Worker caseloads. You will provide direct frontline support and co-ordinate visits to the service users’ home in preparation for their return home, as necessary. You will work collaboratively to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users. The service is time limited, usually up to 6 weeks, to adjust and settle back in their homes.
Key Tasks

Act as the first point of contact for all referrals across the hospital they are attached to.

Meet with patients in the community and/or hospital and carrying out assessments and risk assessments

Enter referrals on to AUKEL’s case management system (currently Charity Log) in accordance with GDPR guidelines.

Allocate referrals to Discharge and Settle workers using tech available (currently the Call Round App), training will be available.

Collecting feedback from service users and uploading to case management system.

Prepare and keep stock of AUKEL Welcome Packs and service leaflets.

Deputise for the Manger at discharge planning and other meetings as directed.

Support the hospital to improve the patient’s experience of the discharge process

Monitor the case loads of each of the Discharge and Settle workers (DSW) to ensure they are evenly and fairly balanced.

Plan and develop person centred interventions to provide short term support for people after hospital discharge.

Ensure wards have good supply of service leaflets and referral forms.

Ensure data collected meets the requirements of the service’s contract monitoring and key performance indicators.

Ensure customer feedback questionnaires are sent at the end of each intervention and record returns.

Ensure admin tasks relating to service users, Discharge and Settle workers or general admin is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

About the role
Since LRU started campaigning for rent controls in 2024, we’ve secured the support of MPs, trade unions and charities, organised large demonstrations and pushed the issue of rising rents up the political agenda.
The purpose of this role is to work alongside members and other union staff to take our campaigning for rent controls to the next level through a combination of protests, local organising, coalition building and targeting of power holders, landlords and corporations.
How we work at LRU
You will be part of the LRU staff team alongside 12 other staff, who work with members to build the power of the union by organising, campaigning, training and supporting peer support and member solidarity actions.
