We keep local history alive by managing a community centre that houses an internationally important quilt collection. Through exhibitions, workshops, talks and outreach, we promote patchwork, quilting and care for our collection of antique and heritage quilts.
Each year we welcome thousands of visitors through our doors, to explore and learn about our collection and be inspired! Our Trustees steer and guide The Quilt Asssociation, keeping us growing and sustainable. Working collectively as a Board, Trustees ensure the organisation fulfils its charitable aims, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, and continues to develop as a nationally significant centre for quilting and textile heritage and arts.
Position: Trustee
Responsible to: Chair of Trustees
Location: We are based in Llanidloes, Mid Wales, but you don't have to be. We are open to remote and hybrid volunteering, however we do ask that you be within a reasonable distance to attend our key dates and exhibitions.
Hours: Approx 6 hours per month to include the Trustee Board meeting, any preparation work and subgroups.
Expenses: This role is voluntary, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our Expenses policy.
Key responsibilities
As a trustee, you will contribute to the overall development and oversight of organisational strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring the organisation operates in line with its charitable objectives and governing documents, including risk management and compliance with relevant regulations. You'll safeguard the long-term sustainability of the organisation, including financial stability and act as an ambassador for the organisation. As a trustee, you'll also have the opportunity to be involved in the care, conservation, and accessibility of the quilt collection.
We are looking to build on the skills of our current board and are seeking trustees who can take a lead role in one of the following areas:
IT / Digital - Supporting digital infrastructure, data management, systems, and opportunities for digital engagement
Textile Conservation - Providing expertise in the care, preservation, and documentation of heritage textiles
Marketing and Communications - Supporting audience development, promotion of exhibitions and events, and strengthening the organisation’s profile
Property / Facilities Management - Advising on the maintenance, development, and effective use of Minerva Arts Centre
Arts, Culture and Heritage Sector Experience - Bringing insight, networks and strategic understanding of the wider cultural landscape

Role summary
To be the first point of contact for patients, clients and visitors to St Helena, maintaining a professional approach while being warm and welcoming, responding to general enquiries as part of the reception team.
Provide telephonist and reception services to St Helena Hospice.
Welcome and direct clients arriving for counselling or therapy sessions and maintain a presentable and welcoming venue.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
Main duties of this role may include any of the following:
· Be the first point of contact for patients, clients and visitors to St Helena, maintaining a professional approach while being warm and welcoming and responding to general enquiries where possible.
· Ensure visitors sign in on arrival and follow current directions for sanitising hands and PPE where required.
· Inform staff members promptly of clients arriving for counselling or therapy sessions offering and providing refreshments.
· Receive and transfer telephone calls through the main switchboard relaying messages via email, written message or hand delivery ensuring they are directed to the right person.
· Direct couriers to the main reception for deliveries and collections.
· Ensure all information is kept secure and maintain confidentiality under data protection regulations at all times regarding all patients, clients, staff and other volunteers.
· Open and close up reception area at start or end of each shift.
· Maintain a clean and presentable reception area.
· Check counselling rooms before and after sessions to ensure they are presentable for use, tidying where necessary.
· Check the kitchen remains tidy and restock with tea, coffee, and milk as required.
· Take payments for purchase of goods, using card payment system or cash handling, documenting record of sales following relevant guidance.
Training & supervision
· All volunteers are required to complete mandatory online training relevant to the area of their voluntary role; this will include safeguarding.
· First day induction with line manager.
· Attend any reception meetings as required, to remain up to date with organisational changes.
· Supervision and regular updates with dedicated line manager.
· Enhanced DBS check.
Experience & qualifications required
· Experience of working on reception desirable but not essential as training will be given.
· Experience in a customer or patient facing role.
· Able to demonstrate good organisation and attention to detail.

CHAS runs a number of charity shops locally, selling donated stock as well as new goods to raise the vital funds required to care for children and their families. DofE Award Program Manager / Co-ordinator
Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.
As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.
Summary
CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a UK charity that makes a difference to young people’s lives and prepares them for life and work. Young people from every possible background take part in the DofE programme each year to broaden their horizons, develop their leadership skills, learn to work with others, volunteer in their local communities, increase their employability, and prove to themselves they can succeed at a serious challenge.
The DofE Manager will perform a vital role to ensure that The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is operated in accordance with the terms of the CAG Licence agreement and support the DofE’s mission. They will develop, support and promote the delivery of the DofE within the remit of CAG.
Description
We are looking for someone to manage and coordinate our DofE program. To get the most out of this role, you’ll probably have worked with young people before and have a love of the great outdoors and maybe into paddling, cycling, mountain biking and walking. You’ll be comfortable with the skills needed to complete expeditions (e.g. navigation, map reading, using a compass), and be able to cope with changing and challenging situations.
Formal qualifications in outdoor leadership (e.g. BEL or ML awards) or other skills (e.g.canoeing) are welcomed but not essential.
The key tasks of the role are to:
Young People
Ensure the delivery of high quality programmes and identify opportunities for increased participation.
Manage the provision of safe and enjoyable DofE programs for participants.
Issue badges and certificates on completion of Awards.
Arrange suitable opportunities to celebrate young people’s DofE achievements.
Purchase Welcome Packs and assign Participation Places.
Deal with complaints and queries in an efficient manner.
DofE Groups
Authorise, manage and set up sufficient DofE groups to ensure access to a DofE programme for all participants who wish to take part.
Approve the appointment of Leaders, Instructors, Supervisors and Assessors and ensure they have access to appropriate training/qualifications for their role.
Manage and support Leaders – support them in their role, ensure they have undergone appropriate training and actively manage the recruitment of new Leaders when necessary.
Use eDofE to actively manage DofE groups and leaders.
Ensure that all DofE groups are adhering to the correct policies and procedures.
Run an active volunteer recruitment programme.
General
In conjunction with the relevant DofE Regional/Country Office develop, implement and review a DofE development plan, which includes supporting the DofE to meet its strategic aims.
Use eDofE to support the delivery and management of DofE
Use the eDofE reporting functions to measure performance and set development targets.
Attend at least one meeting/event organised by your DofE Regional/Country Office per year to keep up to date with DofE developments.
Ensure compliance with all aspects of the DofE Licence.
Be a champion for the DofE within CAG and actively promote the DofE within the local community.
In addition you must undertake the e-induction and Introduction to the DofE courses.
Ideally you should have / be:
An ability to communicate with adults and young people, both verbally and in writing.
An ability to organise and plan effectively.
Office software literate.
Ability to manage staff effectively.
Able to provide inspirational leadership and motivate adults.
Build, maintain and facilitate effective working relationships with a wide range of people.
Plan, manage and monitor your own tasks and time.
Construct and implement long-term plans that improve and expand DofE programmes offered to young people and identify any training, resources and other needs required to undertake this work.

Making a difference - what impact will the opportunity have?
Your input is key to the running of CAG as well as securing its future. This role puts you in a real position to support young people in developing their skills in expedition activities. You will play an invaluable part of the quality checking process of the expeditions. If you’re thinking of a career in teaching, youth work or outdoor education, or wish to further your experience as an expedition expert, this role will give you invaluable experience.

About the location
Where will the volunteer be working?
The volunteer can do some of the work remotely, for instance, access eDofE from home and contact participants via online messaging services. However, most of your time will be spent working in close contact with the DofE participants at our unit in Bickenhill on Tuesday meeting nights or on some weekends away on training and practice expeditions.

Some remote work but mainly on Tuesday nights at our meeting place in Bickenhill, Solihull
When will the volunteer be working?
Volunteer availability
Mostly Tuesday evenings (CAG’s meeting night 7pm - 9pm during term time).
Expeditions happen several times a year, in locations locally and further afield so you will need to be available for some weekends away for expedition training and practice - for instance in the Derbyshire Peak District, Shropshire etc.
Estimate of time commitment
0 - 4 hours / week - the candidate will be able to offer further time as they wish.

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer
People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them. This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve. Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.
As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:
Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support
Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes
Raise concerns
Keep detailed notes and records
Make a real difference to someone’s life
Hospital Visitor Volunteer
Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
This role entails weekly visits to either Townsend Court and Poplar Wards (Luton) on Fridays 1-4 or Fountains Court (Bedford) on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
As a hospital volunteer, you might:

share information
assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre
Support Session Volunteer
