The Philanthropy Officer will work closely with and report to the Grants, Trusts & Foundations Manager and Head of Philanthropy to develop the Trust and Major Donor pipelines, along with instrumental cross-team work on applications and reporting processes for other income streams. Whilst we work towards developing a more diverse funding model and navigate changes to the external Trust and HNWI environments, sustaining and growing income from both of these income steams will remain vital.
The post-holder will be key in taking the Trust and Major Donor programmes to the next level, securing new grants, building relationships, increasing multi-year gifts and improving both quality and volume of applications. They will also support the Grants, Trusts & Foundations Manager, and the wider team, to the same end with their respective portfolios.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced team leader and high value fundraiser to join at a pivotal moment. Reporting into the Director of Income Generation, the Head of Major Giving will lead a passionate and well-established team spanning Philanthropy, Trusts & Foundations, Strategic Partnerships and Events. With 12 people in the team and five direct reports, you'll set direction, inspire high performance and play a key role in championing a culture of philanthropy and partnerships across the organisation.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Major Giving strategy, driving significant income growth and pipeline development. Central to the role will be retaining and deepening relationships with loyal supporters, while attracting new, long-term funders; refreshing stewardship and cultivation approaches to deliver ambitious growth plans and ensure Friends of the Earth has the resources to respond to an evolving external landscape.
To be successful, you will bring demonstrable experience of income growth and pipeline development, alongside a strong track record of motivating and inspiring teams to achieve high, sustainable performance. You can bring experience in one or more high value funding streams (Major Donors, Trusts & Foundations, Corporate Partnerships). You'll be highly collaborative, confident building relationships cross-organisationally, and an excellent networker. Experience of, or knowledge of campaigning organisations and/or organisations going through strategic change would be an advantage.

You will be part of a small energetic and committed team supporting the delivery of Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s philanthropy and income generation ambitions. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will help grow and steward support from individuals, corporate, charitable and statutory donors, with a lead responsibility for a defined portfolio of relationships and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Individual Giving strategy in collaboration with the CEO and senior leadership team
- Lead national fundraising appeals, including Sea Sunday and seasonal campaigns
- Recruit, retain and steward individual supporters through effective donor journeys
- Grow income through regular giving, legacies, volunteering and other giving products
- Manage and develop the Individual Giving team
- Oversee Salesforce CRM usage, data quality, reporting and compliance
- Manage budgets, income forecasting and campaign analysis

About You
You will bring:
- Significant experience in direct marketing fundraising (ideally in the charity sector)
- Proven experience of managing national fundraising campaigns
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience using charity CRMs (e.g. Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire support
- Confidence working with data to inform strategy and decision making
- A resilient, proactive and collaborative approach
Desirable:
- Experience fundraising in a faith based setting
- Knowledge of the Catholic Church
- Experience managing volunteers and external agencies
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising
Salary of £54,000 per annum

We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser and team leader to join us as Head of Development (maternity cover). You will lead a talented team of seven which cover Fundraising (Memberships, Legacies, Grants, Trusts and Foundations and Philanthropy) and Marketing (Communications, Campaigns & Marketing).
