Aim of the role
As a Homeless Health Peer Advocate, you will form part of our team helping those experiencing homelessness to achieve better health outcomes.
Homeless Health Peer Advocacy is a pioneering model of advocacy style support. It aims to work towards an inclusive health system where everyone has access to the healthcare they need; ultimately moving people out of homelessness. Main Tasks
This is a varied role, and you could do some or all the following activities:
- Arranging and committing to regular time each week to support clients to get help with their health needs.
- Acting as an advocate for the client, preparing for and supporting with appointments, results, letters and helping them to speak up for themselves.
- Updating your supervisor about calls to people experiencing homelessness and reporting any information/advice/guidance that has been requested
- Reporting any concerns about safety
- Providing feedback to help improve and develop the service
- Sometimes you may meet a client for a one-off appointment, or you might be working with a client over several weeks or months, depending upon their health needs.

We are looking for:
- People with lived experience of homelessness or risk of homelessness (all forms e.g., rough sleeping, sofa surfing, hidden homelessness)
- Experience of multiple disadvantage: domestic abuse or sexual violence, experience of the criminal justice system, mental ill health, neurodivergence, substance misuse, barriers to accessing healthcare.
- Friendly with good listening skills
- Able to listen and respond to information provided
- A positive, can-do attitude
- Good timekeeping and reliability

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.
If successful, you will be joining a growing team of diverse, but likeminded individuals, collaborating to increase the reach of the Charity and improve support provisions available to young people. All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers, but that doesn't stop us keeping in touch and maintaining a strong positive culture amongst our whole team.
About the role
Our Peer Mentors are at the forefront of our Youth Services delivery, tackling head on the issues that young people are facing everyday. As a Peer Mentor, you will engage with young people who reach out to Youth4Youth for support, taking time to coach and guide them through the difficulties that they are facing. This exciting opportunity, targeted at individuals who are between the ages of 16 and 25, provides young people with the space to directly impact and transform the lives of young people, significantly improving their overall wellbeing.
Ideal candidates are those who are able to commit to regular volunteering activity of at least 2 hours per week (on average) and who are able to comfortably communicate via written e-mail and other remote chat functionalities.
Responsibilities:
Your core responsibilities as a Peer Mentor at Youth4Youth include:
- Building strong, professional relationships with young people seeking mentoring support.
- Demonstrating commitment to the charity by regular volunteer engagement to maintain ongoing communication with young people (which includes responding to young people within an agreed and reasonable time frame).
- Providing light support, advice and guidance to young people in relation to the troubles that they are facing, in line with the resources provided to you by the charity.
- Maintaining professional boundaries with young people and not seeking to offer support beyond your capability that may put a young person at risk.
- Maintaining regular contact with your Youth4Youth supervisor, with the expectation that you will meet at least once per month for a supervision session that involves reflective practice and a focus on your development as a mentor.
- Providing support as part of our Peer Mentor network to colleagues across the Charity who are also directly supporting young people.
- Maintaining compliance with all policies. Most importantly this means maintaining the right level of confidentiality around your conversations with young people and recognising your safeguarding responsibilities in raising concerns as they arise to keep young people safe.
Peer Mentors are also actively encouraged to get involved in fundraising, outreach and social media activities where they feel comfortable and able to.
Skills
- Strong written communication skills, such as being able to effectively compose a written e-mail in response to a young person.
- Ability to build strong, professional relationships and maintain trust between yourself and a young person, such as through active listening and adapting to the individual needs of different young people.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy to others.
- Ability to work in a challenging environment and recognise when you may need support yourself.
- Proficient in the use of IT tools, such as Microsoft Outlook.

Skills development for you:
As a Peer Mentor at Youth4Youth, you will be required to take part and graduate our Youth Services Academy. This program requires an upfront commitment of 10 - 13 hours of training prior to taking on the role of communicating with young people. This investment in you not only equips you with the understanding of what it takes to be a successful peer mentor, and the skills that you will need, but also is an investment in you. This training will provide you with core soft skills that are transferrable to many opportunities, whether that's in everyday life for you, your education setting or your place of work. All Mentors graduating from the Youth Services Academy will be provided with an electronic certificate to demonstrate your successful completion of the program, which can be shared with potential employers.

Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Read Easy Sheffield is a successful local charity that provides free, confidential, one to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, affiliated to national charity Read Easy UK. We are currently looking to expand our work and for this we need some more volunteers to join our friendly management team, and we excited to be seeking a new Literacy Specialist.
The Literacy Specialist is a vital and interesting role within the Read Easy Sheffield Management Team to make sure that all readers get the support they need during their reading journey. You’ll provide literacy support to the volunteer coaches and give advice on specific challenges they may be facing. This voluntary position would be fantastic for someone who has experience with literacy and education, and can be patient and flexible. You will receive training and support from Read Easy UK to develop your skills, and get to work alongside an enthusiastic Management Team. You will play an instrumental part in making sure our group continues to thrive!
What will you be doing?
- Providing literacy support to the Coordinators and Reading Coaches.
- Visiting reading pairs to advise on specific situations and challenges that Readers and Coaches may be facing.
- Contributing to the content, delivery and organisation of coach meetings.
- Finding or creating useful activities and resources that Coaches can use to support and extend their Readers’ learning.
- Attending monthly Management Team meetings.

We are looking for a finance professional to join our engaged and friendly board as Treasurer, with specific oversight of the charity’s financial management. While day-to-day financial administration is carried out by employees or external providers, the Treasurer works closely with them and the Board to ensure sound financial governance. Our board meet once a month (either virtually or in person in London) for around 90 minutes. We aim to have strategy days twice a year. You will meet with the CEO and Finance Manager once a month, and be available for ad hoc emails, advice. Trustees are usually appointed for a three-year term, which can usually be extended.
We will provide access to training (typically one day) if you do not have direct experience in charity finance.
You will also bring a commitment to the values, aims, and objectives of the charity, and a desire to help children and young people who have experienced grief.

Nearly 400,000 women experience pregnancy and maternity discrimination at work each year, with just 1% filling a complaint with the Employment Tribunal. For those that do, the process can be extremely stressful and intimidating, as they face a battle against organisations who often have the resources to afford the very best solicitors. We’ve heard from many women and parents who have shared the impact Tribunal claims have had on their mental health, with the process leaving them feeling burdened, alone and frightened.
We are looking for volunteers who have been through the Employment Tribunal process before, and would like to use that experience to support others during their claims.
Our Tribunal Mentors give around 1-2 hours a week of their time to offer peer support to their mentees for 12 weeks. They offer a listening ear through regular calls, and kind, empathetic support to help build the confidence to face an Employment Tribunal claim. Tribunal Mentors are not legal experts and can’t give advice on claims, however they are willing to share learning and insights from their own experience. About the role

Time Commitment
We ask that all new Tribunal Mentors can commit to at least six months of volunteering for approximately one hour a week.
Mentoring matches offer 12 weeks of support, this is usually through weekly one-hour calls. However there is some flexibility available depending on both the mentee and mentors needs.
Main Role Purpose
To offer Tribunal Mentees peer support and regular check-ins for 12 weeks. Mentors should be comfortable discussing their own experience of the Employment Tribunal process and offering emotional support to their mentee as they navigate the system and their claim.
Essential requirements
• Experience of filing an Employment Tribunal claim.
• Able to commit to at least six months of volunteering, for approximately one hour per week.
• Access to a mobile phone/laptop/tablet to receive calls. You will not be charged for calls and your number will not be shared.
• Access to a reliable and secure WIFI connection.
• Excellent active and empathetic listening skills.
• A kind and welcoming telephone manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities
• Communicate with your mentees regularly for around 12 weeks. This is usually done through a weekly one-hour call.
• Listen actively, empathise, and provide guidance and support for mentees.
• Signpost to further information and other support organisations if necessary.
• Connect with and support other Mentors on the programme, usually through our Volunteer WhatsApp group.
• Record all mentoring calls on our CRM system.
• Maintain professionalism in all interactions, adhering to all Pregnant Then Screwed guidelines and policies.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced treasurer who has a comprehensive understanding of charity finances, requirements and regulations and will actively support other board members to fulfil their collective responsibilities around finance.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Gut UK’s ambitious growth plans are achievable, and sustainable for the long term. As a charity we need to do more, fund more, and support more people and we need a treasurer who shares our passion in achieving this.
As treasurer, you will play a vital role in ensuring our financial health, sustainability, and transparency. You guide and advise the Board on financial strategy, budgeting, and risk management, Chair the Finance, Fundraising, Audit & Risk Committee, ensuring robust oversight of financial and operational matters, support the CEO and COO, offering expert insight and challenge on financial planning and reporting, and champion good governance, transparency, and accountability across the organisation.

Just Like Us is recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees, to oversee Just Like Us’ financial affairs. This is a voluntary role and applicants should have Chartered Accountant status.
Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Founded in 2016, we work with schools across the UK to change this; empowering young people and teachers to champion LGBT+ equality.
We run programmes in schools across the UK:
● School Diversity Week and Resource Library: More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools are signed up to receive our free educational resources to help them celebrate in June every year
● Ambassadors and School talks: We train LGBT+ young people (18 to 25 year olds) to deliver relatable talks in secondary schools on allyship and growing up LGBT+
● Pride Groups: We help secondary schools and young leaders to set up a Pride Group for LGBT+ pupils and their allies; providing training, resources and 121 support

● We are the UK’s leading LGBT+ young people’s charity
● More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools across the UK take part in our programmes
● Our funding has quickly grown to just over £1m annual income since the charity began in 2016

Role Profile
General Responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities outlined in The Charity Commission’s The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, as a trustee you will be expected to:
● Review board papers and attend board meetings (minimum of 4 times a year)
● Give firm strategic direction to the organisation, assess risk and evaluate performance
● Ensure that Just Like Us pursues its charitable objectives and complies with its governing document and other relevant legislation or regulations
● Support the employed leadership team
● Represent Just Like Us at events
Specific Responsibilities
As Treasurer, you will also be expected to:
● Oversee Just Like Us’ financial affairs, ensuring our ongoing financial viability and compliance with legal and constitutional obligations including the Charities SORP
● Ensure that the Board of Trustees understands and complies with their financial obligations, and guide the Board in their financial appraisal of Just Like Us
● Ensure that effective and appropriate financial procedures and controls are in place
● Work with the leadership team to review and report on Just Like Us’ financial risk management process and financial health at board meetings
● Work with the CEO to produce our annual accounts and budget forecasts, and be a key point of contact during the annual audit of accounts
● Act as a counter signatory for online banking and applications to funders
As Treasurer you should have:
● Chartered Accountant status
● Awareness and knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and the Charities SORP
● Commitment to our vision and mission
● Strategic vision and good, independent, critical judgement
● Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
● Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement
● Willingness to be available to employed staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis

Background information:
Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focussing on paediatric hydrocephalus. Our mission is to make life better for children and their families who are affected by hydrocephalus. We work towards this aim through:
• Awareness: raising awareness of paediatric hydrocephalus through workshops and training.
• Research: supporting research and funding training (for front-line medical, health and social care workers) to increase understanding of the condition.
• Signposting and support: directing families affected by the condition to organisations that can offer support, advice and guidance and by providing access to our peer-to-peer programme. We do not, however, provide advocacy.
We currently have a vacancy on our Trustee Board for an individual with experience in fundraising and income generation. The Charity is ambitious about extending its reach and ensuring that more families and professionals can benefit from our work. To achieve this, we recognise the importance of growing and diversifying our income.
Key responsibilities of the role:
• Actively participating in Trustee Board meetings.
• Attending quarterly Fundraising and Risk Group meetings, held in the evening for approximately 1.5 hours.
• Working closely with the CEO to support the fundraising pipeline and to ensure all grant applications complement the mission and values of the charity.
• Working with the CEO and other Trustees to strengthen the charity’s fundraising strategy and ensure it aligns with our long-term goals.
• Supporting the development of sustainable income streams, including grants, corporate partnerships, individual giving, and community fundraising.
• Providing ad-hoc input on subjects raised by the Trustee, staff, and volunteer teams.
• Voting on grant applications from medical professionals and clinical researchers. Trustee would also be able to participate in specific projects if they wished to.
Required skills and experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience of fundraising or income generation in a charity or relevant setting. The key attributes for the role are as follows:
• Knowledge of different fundraising approaches such as grants, corporate partnerships, or community fundraising.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to display sound judgement and objectivity.
• Experience of working in partnership with healthcare or other relevant organisations or programmes.
• Clear understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
• Discretion when working with sensitive information, and strict adherence to confidentiality when required. Time commitment
• Attendance at six Trustee Board meetings per year (usually Sunday evenings, 18:00–19:30, via Teams).
• Attendance at quarterly Fundraising and Risk Group meetings (1.5 hours, evening).
• Attendance at two 1-2-1 meetings per year with the Chair of Trustees.
• Participation in the AGM and other relevant meetings as needed.
• Timely responses to communications from Trustees, staff, and volunteers.
• Completion of mandatory online training modules. Term and remuneration
• The initial term is 1–3 years, which can be extended by agreement.
• This is a voluntary role. Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
• All new Trustees, including the Vice Chair, will serve a 3-month probation period.
